GTP_WRS (GT5) Week 3 : FTDLXV?

If you use the green part of the last curve, going very close to the wall on the left, you'll gain exit speed there and as result when you start a lap your starting speed will be faster.

Well, regardless, this is going to be a very difficult week to stay of the walls, so I'm trying to keep the regulations as simple and straightforward as possible.

Unfortunately, even if that is the case, unless we used full replays in lieu of or in addition to best lap replays, we would not have a means of identifying whether participants exploited this.

I'm posting a respectable (for me) sector 1 and know I can find more time, but I'm way off in sector 2. I've tried several different lines through the first corner and different brake points for the second, but I can't seem to improve. Any tips or thoughts on where I could be losing speed? I'm using DFGT and have all assists off except ABS 1.

Updated splits:

T1: 0'24.250
T2: 0'22.035

Here's my first half hour session, pretty happy so far:

T1: 24.222
T2: 21.720

Not sure how much more I can shave off but I like that we're fighting for tenths and maybe even hundredths of seconds for this one 👍

EDIT: I just submitted my time but it was rejected...not sure if folks in charge of FetchBot are aware he's suffering from Daylight-Savings-Itis or something :)

Kevin,
about the "ds3 drivers go get a wheel" I was just been sarcastic, It's nice to push yourself to the limits...
...of understeer (ha ha)
No need to explain yourself although it's easy to guess that all car/tyres/track categories are to be used until GT6... (I wonder which car will be on N1's... plz not any Lotus...)
After scientific research it's not the walls that have magnets, its the Coloseum creating a weird magnetic field, which Kaz 90% recreated in the game (ha ha)...

Always with comedy and respect,
G3O

Edit: Something nice about the new replay system: if you grass hop or hit hard a wall and your time becomes red, then you cannot even save it as a best lap replay, If you do so near the end of the lap, also the next lap is invalidated. Only drawback about Rome is that green areas are considered in game from PD.

24.548

3rd lap. Hope to get better. Love Audi's, and I love Rome too!

Thanks EDK and WRS admins/helpers for this weekly fun!

Now I really don't understand it anymore. Can we use the green run-off area or not?

First try:
T1: 24.492
T2: 22.147

Getting sideways in these tires will put you straight into the wall!

Kevin's ruling on this has already been posted:

All hard surfaces are track. Plus, you only have to have 2 wheels on track, so the track surface part of the photo would be fine.

It's legal. Even if it wasn't legal, the use of the green area in the picture shown would be ok, since only two wheels are on the green.

The only restriction this week is against a wall touch.

Avoid touching walls, and you'll be clean.

Thanks Vaxen, his post confused me.

T1: 23.902
T2: 21.442

Nice 3rd sector, bad 1st and 2nd.

Wow. This is going to be tough. I didn't realize I'd hit the wall on the right-kink-after-the-straight-to-downhill until I watched my replay. When in doubt...consider it dirty.

Definitely a challenging combo... its tough to get that perfect line in the first and last set of turns while getting used to all the torque steer!

The first post is a bit confusing though since it clearly says:

"Runoff areas are not part of the track"

Maybe it should be updated?

what a horrible understeered car to drive...
however it is great fun to do so...

after 30 laps or so and not much of improvement left:

T1: 24.147
T2: 21.767

Kinda fun combo. Only tried for about 30min. Most of my first split involves smoke pouring from the rear. Twitchy braking tho.

T1: 23.964
T2: 21.582

Plenty-o time to be had.

OK, I took that out of the "Standard, Clean OLR Rules" in the first thread this week. In reality, those are the general rules that apply to any event, but as stewards, we have the right to over ride them with event specific rules.

I know those are the standard rules. But even I , being the seasoned, knowledgeable, not to mention intelligent, WRSer assumed that the green runoff areas were just runoff areas and therefore off limits. :D

My tyres kept locking up, I found ABS=2 was a bit better. But I'm not sure if that improved my time or I just got a bit better.

Ok, my second 10 lap run. Looking at the leaderboard the DS3 isn't doing too bad.

T1: 24.094
T2: 21.562

Wise thoughts. 👍

First session
T1 : 24.412
T2 : 21.648

Difficult combo, real challenge to keep it up with fellow Division guys this week.
Good luck all.

I love how this car will go into a 4WD drift and your still be able to shave more time off :D
