Good to be back!

T1: 24.395

A rare good start for me. Very happy this week.:)

THAT corner is a trap.... Second braking is a gamble 👎
T1: 24.372
T2: 22.476

Had to get in on this combo, as we are running same track this week in the Cappuccino Cup Series..

Yet I feel I haven't found the prober way to get a decent T2..
Any good advice?? ;)

T1: 24.591
T2: 23.093

Running 35/65 torque split, and 5/7 brake

Pretty fast splits

Feeling chatty this week Thomas? :P

Going pretty well there too Jack.

Welcome back Jon - time to get some miles under your belt mate. :)

Just had a nice little session - feels a bit like throwing yourself down a really narrow crooked staircase  I've discovered though that the best way to take that fast left hander just after T1 is with your eyes shut. If you don't hear the bang, you have time to open them again while you're going down the straight. Not sure I can replicate it but it worked this time.

Nice splits, guys. 👍

I bought the car in GT Mode last night, for $800K, just to look at its HP/torque curves.
I'll try to post a pic later, but it looks like the sweet spot is 3k-5.5k RPM. 👍
Hella short-shifts.

Another fun fact for the exit of turn 1...if you're accelerating out in 3rd gear, and can see that you're going too wide, the early shift to 4th can be just enough hesitation in the power delivery to avoid the wall on the right (as opposed to lifting off the throttle). :)

Thanks Chris - yes I need some practice to get up to speed (thanks for the link Lefty!) . D2 is very competitive at the moment. Lucas, I've been shifting at 5k as you can quite cleary see the rate of acceleration drop off from the speedo above that point.

Actually Lucas, you don't really need to buy the car in GTMode.
The specs of the car show when you're selecting the car in Arcade Mode
You don't get the curve but you do get an idea of where the optimal shifting area is.

Thank you, Sir..!! 👍
Didn't even thought about that possibility.. ;)

With all the grief I got from this track during the Academy Qualifier I remember that the fastest guys posted the secrets to the track there but they were the only ones that could follow there own advice, I only got more frustrated :banghead:

thanks for the link Lefty!

I haven't gone back there to re-read everything because it brings back a lot of stress. I'll just go off my recollections of those events and see if I can exercise my demons :nervous:

Very quick indeed thru T2 on your lap Chris. I was thinking a zero must be possible if I can get a one.:)

Getting the hang of this one. Very close in the first left of T2, but it is clean. Having fun this week.

...hmmmm... so just a second to find then to be competitive in D2  Going very well this week Jack and Baron (and Lucas for that matter, but I'm trying to ignore the fact that you're over half a second quicker than me!!)

right, a gamble
There is only a line there, and only a correct slip angle to take it right, and every lap the car unsettles in a different mode approaching it :ouch:
Of course, I'm trying to approach it with right tires above the kerb (not using the whole road)

By the way, I'm changing at 5200. I see no gain short-shifting at 5000.

I can do chatty me. Just see this: Left hander after T1 is :banghead: There are only two difficult corners on the entire lap. First turn and that. I just can't decide whether to use fourth or fifth gear through. Fifth is faster but I only get through in one piece once every ten laps or so which is very frustrating. The rest is easy (which probably means I'm going too slow in T3.) I do have a feeling that a 46 flat should be possible though.

... There are only two difficult corners on the entire lap. First turn and that. ...

I seem to have some more trouble.

I agree on the first, I try to keep it close and fast, but braking is very subtle. I even have trouble sometime on the third corner not to touch.
The corner after the first split is tricky (slip or not), but the one at the end of the straight is not that easy either I found (mainly the ideal line). Finally the big one before the pits also still troubles me, going slow and getting more speed for the straight or going fast through it and try to get early at the line with less speed?

Still have 2 sec to find somewhere to reach my goal:
24.816
23.203

Is it also correct that when you take the Arcade only car, you can only change the tires? (I wanted to check power, weight, etc ...) before starting the run, but it was not available.

Big gains for me.

T1: 25.046
T2: 23.048

Have to agree with Chris on the left hander . . "close eyes and hope for the best".
I have found though that there appears to be a line on the approach where the car seems to be alot more settled and so the passage seems to be less frantic.
Lots more research for me yet.

Cheers All !!!

Another 15 laps and a little more in both sectors. Still plenty to find...

Isn't it strange that you can go lap after lap with nearly identical T1 times and then suddenly, without seemingly changing anything, you go 2 tenths quicker for five laps in a row?

I'm sure you and others will close the gap before the end of the week. Also, I'm always leary of my T3 times. I'm always much better when chasing a specific time. Can't seem to push as hard when I don't have a defined goal.

Glad we don't have to tune this week. I seem to be a bit tone deaf when it comes to getting a car to handle properly.

I just wanted to try this combo for 2-3 laps... And here I am addicted to it hehe!

Here are my splits:
T1: 24.262
T2: 22.047

I'll find a track which I hate most than this, promised

T1: 24.324
T2: 22.350

Honestly, I'm not fond of the track in this direction, either.

I found this combo to be "acceptable" for running the track in this direction.

If I only allowed my personal opinion to guide my WRS combos, we would never run High Speed Ring, we would only run Deep Forest in Reverse, and we'd run Laguna Seca every other week. ;)

It's been a few weeks since my last WRS participation, but Rome is such a beautiful city. I have to drive here. :dopey:

It took over an hour to get these clean splits and there is certainly some time to be gained.

By the way, I do like this track a lot. In both directions. Maybe because it was the very first new GT track I was able to play at my local game store, some weeks before the game was out. 👍

'Bout time we get back to Laguna anyway, week 16 was the last time. Tim was asking me if I thought we'd get there soon. Do it before your real-life race there! 👍

Second go at this

24.839
22.645

Understeer is making it difficult for me.
