The other nice thing about the wheel is that you should have much better brake control.

Brake VERY lightly coming into that turn, I think I'm on the brakes until I get to the back and have to start to get to the second apex. Releasing the brake at that point tends to help with turn in as well.

License tests could be good to help with learning the wheel, but I think some of the special events that force SRF off (rather than on, like in the licenses) would help even more. Maybe do one and then the other.

AMG Academy that we use the quali for, but in the SL300 would be good. And the Grand Tour events would also be good.
Good point, I forgot about the SRF... ugh...

Yeah the added throttle control is what sped me up on the rest of the track. Instead of my speedo jumping from 72-78 and back to 72 I can maintain 75 for example exiting the corner at a higher speed.

I have been trying to avoid the brakes in turn 1 all together (or VERY light braking) and using the gears to slow the car down more. Its hard to explain but half of the time regardless of what I do, the car does a 90degree turn between 1 and 2. I have tried countersteering and it gets worse and I have tried going back to center which does nothing.

I appreciate your help with it and I will try applying these thoughts next time I start up the game and work on the WRS again (probably tonight)

A little bit of braking in a straight line should add some stability. No brake at all might be part of your problem, especially if you downshift too early and upset the car.

In those exchanges above, I don't see any mention of brake balance...I was also spinning out on most trips through turn 1, with the default 5/5 brake balance, and that went away when I changed to 5/2 (f/r).

I keep forgetting about the In Race Adjustment... Thanks! I bet that will help to adjust them to my liking

Much to my dismay, I ran more lap's and am actually starting to enjoy it:scared:. I think I may finally be finding a rhythm. Also my brake balance is now 3 front/ 1 rear.

T1- 21.765
T2- 17.556
T3- 18.546

Lol, thanks, these 3 laps probably won't stand as the other 2 laps were average so that will come down eventually. I'm just starting to figure T2 and 3, turn 1and 2 are still hit and miss. Hopefully, I can get some track time Sunday to improve to overall time.

Try getting pointed at the first apex sooner, so you don't have to turn as much while under braking.

I'm aiming for the inside rumble at about the time I cross the white line that runs all the way across the track leading up to turn 1. Downshift to 4th, light braking. (very light). Let the car carry to the back, downshift to 3rd and more light braking to make the second apex, which is definitely trickier, especially on a DS3. In other words, turn before you brake for the first half of the turn, that should help. 👍

I think that's about where i am shifting. Have kinda crappy TV (non-HD) so seeing exactly where is a little difficult. On the Tacho it has larger lines for 3,5000rpm, and smaller for 4,6000rpm. Red line i think is 7000, my shift point is somewhere around 6000-6500rpm.
If it helps i shift into fourth before the first left of the esses and back to 3rd in the next right.

just had a close look at my replay and i have been shifting at 6250 almost every time.
I forgot to say that thanks to you two I did that .3 T1 and a consistant .4 T1.👍
I think I shift at around 6250 now too.

Oh and I use BB 0/1 with ABS 1.

Same here, not at all consistency. The only sector I rarely do good time is the 3rd one...
Last 4-5 laps found that braking slightly worked a little better for me but we'll see :)

I've been lifting off the gas for that corner, every time I tried tapping the brakes it slowed me too much.

Wow, got to teach a D1 guy something today. :dopey:

It seems I'm full of these little tips and tricks that help make everyone else a little faster than me. I was giving Marc T3 tips during 3D3 quali on Wednesday, and he used them against me to take pole. :ouch:

But seriously, always happy to help. That's really what WRS is all about. Improving your driving when in the lower divisions and passing on what you learn when you move up. 👍

I must say your tips helped me a lot too. Before today, my best lap would have put me at the very bottom of the board. I spied on you on Wednesday after the race to try to get an idea of how to take turns 1 and 2, but it looks like you only get track-side cameras when doing this, so it was hard to figure out where you started turning, braking, etc.

Lucas' tip about BB helped a lot too. 👍

Sweet 👍👍 glad i could help, and from the times you have had all week i am surprised i could :)

The last sector has been my most consistent. In the last left of the essess I keep fairly tight in, no more than half track. Two wheels across the point at 1/8-0 throttle (no braking) until i have used 1/2-3/4 track width then keeping tight to the white striped lines before the grass. If i have correctly followed that line then i am full throttle at the around pit entry until corner 1.

edit: This time around i have been struggling to get consistent fast laps :yuck: anyway i think the most important part of sector 3 is from the white striped lines on be as close to the inside of the track as you can. is easy to lose two tenths or more from being a little wide.

I was finally able to string together 3 decent laps. here are my splits from my fastest lap.

T1: 22.072
T2: 17.731
T3: 19.000

I'm going to keep playing with it. That was my fastest T1 so far, and my 2nd fastest T2 and T3. I'm going to play with the brake bias a little and see how that goes.

Not doing so good on this one so far. My best try turned out to be dirty and my next best is half a second slower overall. Forgot to play with the brake bias though so should improve a bit next session.

Thanks for B.B tips (using F5 R3 now). Taken a little bit to readjust but i got some good consistency on my last run. Kinda sad that i couldn't beat my fastest :grumpy: but quicker overall

Went and did another three tries at it and got a little better. It's so hard to lift off to 75% throttle, I alway's end up kinda blipping it from 50-100% which makes the car a little unstable at times.

T1- 21.655
T2- 17.597
T3- 18.476

I can not string together another 3 clean laps... I either goof it on the first lap with cold tires or just overcook on the 3rd lap...

I feel for you, but keep calm, have patience.
If I find myself racing my ghost(or the marker on the map) every lap then I tend to make way more mistakes, so i give it little thought and try to follow similar lines and speeds that work well for me.
Your sector 2 time is right on my latest quick one. For the first corner i use the end of the pit exit white line as my braking/slow down point, usually gives me a good smooth run through the first corner.

Did not improve a great deal on the total time, though. But I think I am getting a bit more consistent with time. Inconsistency is one of my big problems, so this combo should help me quite a bit.

Some engines sound like a vacuum cleaner, others like a lawn mower... but this one reminds me of a church organ!

This is the same problem I had, except lap 1 has been my fastest lap every run I've done so far. I'd say the only place to really brake is turn's 1 and 2, the rest are all acceleration and a big lift off for the final right. Best thing for tires to me was reducing brake balance front and back, also coast around turn's 6 and 8 until confidence is there completely.

Need to be more consistent.

All week have been saying that to me, over and over and over again

Finally today some improvement

Don´t know if i have the will to give this one more try :ill:

Thanks Wes for the tip 👍 (B/B 0/1)

Fetchy doesn't seem to be updating. Have to check in the morning.

Nevermind. Had spaces in my times.

Just worked for me...

Edit: just pulled myself from the bottom of the list on wrs.gtplanet.net, woohoo!
