Gave it another go!

Thanks to Vagabond's setup and tips!!!!!!!!!!!
Done some fiddling.....raised LSD 38-40..ABS 7 [Just personal driving style]

197 @ 3600rpm - 323ft-lb 3200rpm - 50.3%....426 PP.

Still left some time on T1 and T3.

Would anybody be so kind as to share their lines through turn 1/2 and the crucial right-left just before the tunnel in T2?

I approach turn-1 (left curve) from the right-hand side, and go as straight as possible to the left-hand side, touching the left just before the 100m board. Just as the 100m board goes out of sight on the left, full braking. I kind of straight-line the entrance to turn-2 (hairpin), holding on to some of the brakes as I turn-in.

I've done first-split of .5 with different lines through turn 1; sometimes holding the apex all the way round - sometimes never catching the apex, but carrying more speed through and out of the corner. But most of the time I stay away from the apex for the 1st half, and catch a late apex with good traction/speed out.

Similarly for the right-left before the tunnel; I've used various lines through here. Most of the time I just position the car in the middle before the left-hander (carry a medium speed through the right-hander).

I think I'm done with this one, this car infuriates me. (Or maybe it's my driving? The back end comes around constantly and I don't know how to recognize it or stop it.) For tuning all I did was lower about -13 and raise spring rate, 'cause that's what the help thing says. :) I thought I was doing poorly but my times seem good compared to other people.

Thanks Vagabond for the great settings! - Works very well with DS3, I think I may have upped LSD Initial Torque and Accel by a couple of notches. ABS 2

Very happy with this lap! It's been tough to get a decent first split and then not make a real mess of the triple right-hander and tight-left into the tunnel. Very difficult combination of corners on these pretend tyres ;)

Try raising the rear ride back to around zero. Could also try using heavy positive toe (probably just rear that makes the difference); I copied RudiRaser's toe settings, and the reduction in oversteer was so strong.

I am happy you beat me on the splits Apollo, now it gives me some motivation to beat your splits :D

Hey Guys,

I dont really have a tune that I run.

For this week i have only played with the Camber front and rear, lowered the ride height and set the Max Speed to 230km/h.

Front and rear camber is set at -2.0'. The rest of my "tune" is all stock settings.

T1 for me is maxed out, i can constantly see mid to high .4's, T2 is where i am losing tenths. probably 2 or 3 to be gained there. And my T3 is maxed out, can't see me making any more time through the last sector.

Any questions, I am more than happy to answer.

Josh.

Josh. Are you doing any sliding, or always smooth & rolling? (in particular thinking about turn 1 [hairpin]).

Thanks for the help. Maybe if the other Div4 people pass me I'll have to try it again. :)

That's what I'm here for. 👍

Some quick times on the board allready. 👍
I need to drive a lot more on this although i like this combo,
My times are not impressive yet. :sly:

T1: 24.323
T2: 24.437
48.760

The goal is both 23s.:scared:

Glad my setup has been of use to a couple of folks. :)

Another step forward for me - tidied T1 up a bit, lost half a tenth in T2:

T1: 23.553
T2: 22.963

Think I'm just about at my limit with this one now but not giving up yet; its a fun combo. I'm enjoying this as much as I did the Camaro in week 1. :)

Vagabond
I have a question... How the hell are you going that fast? :sly:

Haha I don't know mate, not quick enough at the moment.

Hi Alan, turn 1 I am trail braking into the corner, straight back on part throttle to hold a bit of a slide, then on full as soon as the slide is gone. A bit of a steering correction halfway through the corner to atop the initial kick of the tail.

I am very sideways over the top of the hill straight after t1, too sideways.

Then tip toeing down the hill and double right handers with minimal inputs of steering and brake.

Hope this helps.

Ugh... another 45 minutes wasted. :yuck: Though I've seen -.3 in T1 I haven't actually finished a single clean lap in that session. :ouch:

Josh you are right.
This car with this tires, the set is not that importend.
Just do a clean lap, don´t push to much, find the right breakpoints etc.
And like always, slow in, fast out. :D

Did also some more laps today, a bit slower splits, (not wrote down) but 0.100 faster at the line. :)

Had a go with Vagabond's set up last night, could not get it to work for me. Ended up tightening the LSD by a whole lot, softening the suspension and reducing the front toe. I realise that making the LSD really high values might cost me a tiny bit of time, but I just couldnt get into, or out of corners smoothly with the DS3. I think the lack of fine control on steering is really costing me on the left into the tunnel too.

I did manage to take .2 off my total time, but was about .2 slower at T2 (forgot to write them down), so plenty of improvement to come. Did see a .583 T1, then binned it on the next corner.

On a brighter note, I got a lend of a DFGT of my brothers boss and had half an hour on it this morning (never used a wheel for gaming before). I could barely get to the start line without going off track. Need to fiddle with the FFB/dead zones when I get home I think. Any tips for a wheel noob?

Best tip = time.

It is a big adjustment going from ds3 to wheel. Take your time and be smooth. You will be a lot slower when you first start, but with practice and more practice you will get faster and faster.

Start off by driving at 50% pace to get a feel for steering inputs and pedals. Then once your comfortable, slowly build up speed.

But most importantly, have fun with it!!

Thanks mate, I had a feeling time was the key :).

Edit:

So after changing my car's color and going back to the track. I met my goal and I am quite excited

:(

Goal to get under 47.XXX at T2? Or a T3 goal?!

Amazing times though mate 👍

Thanks Munch 👍 The overall goal was to hit a certain total time, which I did. Although I think I can shave more time off. I might keep going although I decided to B-Spec for the rest of the night so I finish my marketing final.

Congrats 👍

I'm still slowly working towards my goal! Will get there even if it means some more late nights!

Is that some magical nano-paint with better aerodynamics?? Nice job! 👍

Sooo... Rudi's tune? I guess now I have to try it later. :)
