It would have been verifiable in the data logger if someone used so much extra power, but I think it would have been difficult to detect if someone used the extra power in combination with the Power Limiter.
Possibly yes - I still think the extra torque would result in a steeper acceleration gradient... but its academic now anyway :)

OK, another session with car at revised specs. Much better acceleration but a little trickier controlling that extra torque on the tighter exits. Used the same setup but changed Transmission Final setting to 4080.

I'm not optimising the extra torque yet and I reckon there's another tenth in sector 1 and possibly another in sector 2 as well. Hard to say on the whole lap - that chicane after the hairpin in sector 3 is a b****.

Yeah its well awkward and can ruin many a good 1st sector in a blink.

Edit - I suppose a new 1st sector video is in order for the new specs...?

The new config is fun, I love torque monsters 👍

I'm really going to have to work to get down to what I think will be competitive D3 times. The track is well to my liking (except the loop, it's just tooooooo looooong), so I'll get in quite a few runs around here :) And like others have stated, T3 is going to be a real decider!

Me? Nah, I was just bitten once by a genetically modified racing driver. Sometimes, when a car suits my driving style, I can turn out some decent times to try and play with the aliens... I am enjoying this track far more than I anticipated too, which is nice. :sly: I'll do another video later :)

Actually its a Honda paint - Aztec Green Pearl. I do love those TVR paints though and was going to choose Starmist Crimson again before deciding on this :)

I actually used Baron's tranny since I don't think Chris ever posted his individual ratios:

Tranny trick:
  1. Reset tranny to default settings
  2. Put the final gear all the way to the right
  3. Top speed to the left
  4. Individual gear ratios as specified below
  5. Set the final gear to your liking

Tranny trick, then

Final will need a slight adjustment now.

I found when I changed the rims that the original ratios didn't work for me. So I went back to the standard rims in order to use the tranny. Did I miss something or was that just a fluke or maybe I did perform the "trick" properly?
 
Tranny trick -

Put final to max (all the way to the right)
Put top speed to minimum (all the way to the left)
Set 1st to minimum (all the way to the left)
Set 6th to maximum (all the way to the right)
Set other ratios so they are evenly spread between 1st and 6th
Set final to 4080
Voila :)

I tried Vagabond's setup, and really liked it in 4th gear corners. However, I found it pushed too much in 5th gear stuff. If anybody is interested, I'll post my tune (like Baron, not many have liked my tunes in the past), but I'm still tweaking it.

Barons transmission worked for me tim with custom rims 👍

While I'm breaking in the car at SSRX , I'll comment on the tranny trick ..

There are many ways to use the so called "tranny trick"

But overall it all starts from knowing what speed the car must reach at the end of longest straith of track Y .
Then figure out and remember what the speed is at top of transmission tuning menu.

Now , the goal is to redo the gear and get that same speed to the top of transmission menu.

The max speed (auto setup) works as a slider like this:
180km/h --------I----- 420 km/h
short gears -----I---- wide gears

And for best results (for pure acceleration) , the final gear should be set as low as possible (all the way to left).


--car broken in

For example , stock FC gears = 289 km/h on top of transmission tuning menu.
The final gears is at 3.692 and 6th gear at 0.917 (stock rims)

1 The so called "tranny trick"..
This 289 km/h can be achieved by moving the final gear to 5.500 and then the max speed all the way to left. And then setting 6th gear all the way to right and final gear to 3.329 - 3.340 .

2 pure acceleration - super close/gears
Or by setting final gear to 4.125 , max speed all the way to left , 6th gear all the way to right and then moving final gear to 2.500 (all the way to left)

3 still all acceleration , less wheelspin in low gears
And by setting final gear to 2.502 , max speed to 300 km/h , 6th gear all the way to right and moving final gear to 2.500 (all the way to left)

3 wide gears
And like this: Final gear to 2.500 , max speed all the way to right , 6th all the way to right and move the final gear to 3.445 - 3.456

Nice video Chris 👍 I wish It had sector 2 I need a bit of help in that sector, losing about 6tenth there. And the chicane has messed up a lot of my times*:banghead:
 
I haven't yet got close to my previous splits. It's taking some getting used to the additional torque and rpm.

A fair bit tougher to control, but combatted with shorter shifting.

T3 last turn lost a tenth. Need to do better in T1 too. Best I could manage in 45 mins tonight and 1/4 sec faster with the extra power than before.

I suspect Baron will beat this fairly easily while I count sheep :dopey:

Nice splits, Tim. 👍 I've got splits from last night that are about 0.35 slower than those, but I didn't post them as I still need to check cleanliness. I think I'll try some more tonight.

There's still about a tenth in each of the first two sectors and a bunch in t3.

Only had about 45 minutes also. Had to adjust my tune a bit to get the power down better.
