Throwing away 39.0's and 39.1's in T1, but I still can't break 20.700 in T2. :banghead: Fun combo, though. 👍

39.248
20.740

Using Chris's tune , and a tranny that gets me 124mph at the start/finish line.

Made a bit of improvement, but my splits don't show it. I keep thinking the car is going to spin or I'm going to fast and I lift off when I shouldn't.

39.741
20.897

Managed a faster lap but upon review, I brushed the wall just before the end of T1. :ouch:

Not getting the hang for this revision yet, seems to be looser.

Grappy T1.

I personally like the torquier version, but admit it takes a lot more throttle control. One thing I do with a torquey car, especially one with a custom tranny, is to short shift until I find the accelerator feel required. And with the gears being relatively short, with the fairly short straights, this is not too big of a handicap.

Another thing I did early on is to stay off the curbs. This car gets very unsettled on them (I find). Driving cleaner lines got me a lot of speed until I knew where I wanted to place the car and can now roll the curbs OK. This is true on the exit of the tight double apex in the middle of T1 too. Jumping the exit curb is OK IF you have the car well placed. Rolling just outside (ideally roll the right wheels on the edge) keeps the car more settled allowing earlier throttle application.

Cheers Chris, nice sector 1! i'l have a few laps in an hour or two. Its Jamie btw.

EDIT:-

Ok finally sending my g27 back just gonna take it to the post office now, then I can race when a new one returns. I've been running the tt's because brake flicker was intermittent so every now and again it would flicker.. hence I couldn't race! so see you in a week or so, good luck;)

Slight improvement through T1/T2, but 4 tenths at the line.

T1: 39.528
T2: 20.918

Not a good lap yet. And neither am I sure, if I like that setup I'm using...

Thanks for the advise! I try to short shift in the higher gears. I hit the curbs on the "square corner" but think I am taking it too tight.

Improving sector 1 and starting to figure out sector 3, sector 2 is pretty tricky, cant seem to get it right and when I do I blow it at the chicane.

I figured why not :sly:

I understand. I'm pretty consistent in sector 2 at this point, but whenever I string together a very good T1 and T2 I always mess up the hair pin in T3. However, if I have a bad T1 I'm almost guaranteed to nail the final sector. It's got to be psychological. Frustrating. I don't usually have this low a "bring it home" rate when I'm ahead of my ghost by a couple tenths so often. Eventually, I'll get lucky and string 3 together, but it may take 600 miles :dunce: That's "Gravitron-esque", but only if you add another 400 miles.

I'm already at around 600 miles. :dunce: But I didn't drive the first 200 of those. :dopey:

I did that too, I think when I mess up the first two sectors I dont care anymore about the lap, so I take a bit more risk in the hairpin and the chicane. I think ive figured out how to do it right, im not sure if we can talk about sector 3 on here though :sly: But I hate trying to chase my ghost, if im ahead ill always lose time, personally I would rather just get the splits at the end of the sector. I improved my time by quitting the game and restarting without the distraction of the ghost by almost 6tenths 👍, so you might wanna try that.

With the new car, my favourite turn is so hard.... Skidding massively now whereas it was controlled before. Need to try Chris's suspension and find better transmission cos I haven't managed Lucas's claimed 124 at the line, only a pathetic 123!

123 is about as common for me as 124. Once I saw 125.

For my current tranny, I did the tranny trick, except I left the Final drive at its default position in step 1, where you'd normally push it full-right, before pushing Max Speed full-left. Adjusted the gears individually, and then pushed Final to the left to get the upper right top speed to 146mph. The goal of this being to get the ending Final drive fairly low, as Pekka recommends. :)

Reset to default
Leave Final alone
Max Speed full left
3942
2995
2289
1886
1654
1512
2755 Final

It makes it fairly easy to take "your favorite turn" by dropping down to 4th. 👍

My current best lap starts at 125mph but finishes at 124... so I think that's about right to aim for. Great going Lucas 👍

So are you out this week then mate or do you have a submittable lap already? Hope its a fairly quick turn around with your wheel anyway.

Love the tranny trick! It makes better use of the power curve. 👍
Thanks for sharing that.

:) Much improvement with Gravitron's tranny trick!

I'm using the tune I developed for a 370Z GT Academy TT. That was on Tokyo, this is on Cape North, and here it's got some corner-exit oversteer issues I need to dial out.

Terrible t2, but 1 & 3 were both really good. I know how to do the corkscrew but its hit and miss, plenty of time to clean it up though.

Yeah out until I get it back.. unless I pick up the pad:tdown:
submitted my lap to fetchbot so their will be no improvement from me.

Had a few x.3 in T1, but never with a good T3 :grumpy: But a good session with a tenth and a half at the line.

Nice sector 3. Sector 2 was ok, but below average in terms of line on entry, was too fast.

Inspired by Lucas I made my own transmission, I wanted it slightly different but from the same starting point, so thanks for that.

My setup:

14.1 13.1
5/5 5/5 5/6

Hairy moment with fence which I'll need to check.

Thanks Chris for the tune and the mention. :)

And thanks Matt and Gayle for the nice words re: the tranny. I may try yours Matt. 👍

And since Baron's on top of D2 right now, here's a random homage to you. :P

I've got one more chance to set a lap tonight, and then I'm away until after the deadline. No pressure, though. :ouch:

Ok so where's my homage? ;)

I doubt those three thousandths will hold for long though :scared:

I'll go walk downtown Seattle in search of a tagged millross if you can tell me how the hell to break 20.7 in T2. :P It's only 2 turns! :dopey:
