Really strange this week. I cannot get below 36.5 in T1. I have no clue.
First off, there are a lot of ideas and even a video on the 1st sector posted in this thread, that's a good start.
Second, seat time will prevail most weeks.
Use the ghost to your benefit. When you need to go faster, beat him. When you need to find speed, follow him. Every ghost is like a new race to me. But then again, I'm probably not normal.
And what's normal nowadays.
I never really use the ghost since I find it distracting when it's very near. I miss the leaderboards from GT5Prologue where you could download a MAY or FAK or Timppaq replay which you would never be near anyway so it was much easier to follow from a safe distance of a second or so behind.
Third, it may be time to try Chuk's suggestion, if only to experiment with.
The ghost as Chuk said can help you find speed/time you have not found.
I also used the driving line almost all the time with Prologue and I still use the ghost all the time (more experience makes it less distracting) but with this car being blue it can be a distraction.
It's a flick of a button to turn on/off so no hassle there for the DFGT.
With the correctly colored car (greyish) the ghost is less distractive and why if I can choose the color, well, it's greyish, the color of the pavement.
The Prologue leaderboard would shed light on the last sectors and for that I miss them also but the top 10 were too fast for me to follow.
All I could do was watch and learn, then try to replicate.
I actually like that we have no ghost but our own to follow.
It brings back the GT4 feel of what can I achieve of my own in the last sector(s).
That is where the learning part comes into play.
Took 35 laps on the wheel to beat my DS3-after-10-laps time. Still pretty ugly, IMO.
Keep at the wheel and you will get faster with it.
The DS3 can be hard to beat on tight corners but the input to the pedals and wheel are more refined.
And using the wheel is just plain fun compared to the DS3.
