Yeah, he's been doing overtime for a week straight now. I had to poke him 3 times before he responded ;)

It's strange that sometimes somehow the update process just stops... but if you manually run it once, the process continues (without changing anything).... but it's running again.

If it occurs once more, i'll dive into it deeper.

BTW: your problem with the submission is fixed, right? :)

Hey Guys,

The board has just been updated, i've pushed 2 changes through:

1) The split posting has changed so that we can just post the sector times without the need to calculate the splits.

The format stays exactly the same, but now you can just use the sector times. So now you can just post like this:

T1: 0'16.536
T2: 0'26.565
T3: 0'21.449

2) It is not needed to have the 'PSN: GTP_Joost' in your profile. The board now extracts your username from the post and cross references this with the official registry. So it's enough if your username is correct in the official registry thread.

No, the splits that are already posted can remain the same, the board will ignore those :).

So this only concerns splits that are posted from now on, so you can leave everything the way it was and just post the sector times from now on and everything will be processed correctly :)

Has the logic behind the "theoretical fastest time" been discussed before? Seeing the splits for weeks 1 and 2 really made me think about it, because in both cases the top person has the fastest splits but not the fastest sectors, which I found kind of funny. That made me realize that people really aiming for that first split might actually be setting themselves up for a slower overall lap.

For example, in Week 1 you can see that Sutuki hits Split-1 0.09s earlier than Eclipsi, but by Split-2, Eclipsi is only 0.006s behind, which likely means he's hitting the second split at a faster speed and could be on his way to a faster overall time. The point, then, is that it may well be impossible to hit Split-1 with Sutuki's time and also make it to Split-2 with Eclipsi's sector time, as the "theoretical time" would have you believe.

(The whole leaderboard and bot system is very impressive, btw. :))

Had a brainwave following all the work going on in replays and wondering whether there could be some system added to the current board to make it easier to keep a track of who has had their replay verified?

If you kept replay verification to a standard, such as, "GTP_Sureshot Time: 1'05.129 :greenflag:"

Adding the green flag we all use to the GTP smilies DB.

Of course not everyone who posts splits submits, and the other way around, so that may make it trickier to integrate it in to existing system, but something like getting FetchBot to read the results thread, identifying who needs a replay, showing this on the board, when someone verifies it, a green flag is put next to their name on the board.

You could also get FetchBot to read when someone posts their replay, again using a standard. Example:

"GTP_Sureshot Replay:"

With that information, you could have a link on the WRS board to the post of the user where the replay is in the results thread.

Maybe asking too much, but would improve replay verification, particularly with larger replay volume and participation. But to me, I think that would be the next logical step in the improvement of the WRS submission process.

Also, glad my job only involves suggesting software design improvements and largely not implementing it! Keep it up Joost and co, really doing a great job.👍

@Apollo33: that's very possible, but we wouldn't know until the time has been beaten :)

@Sureboss: very good idea, thanks for thinking with us! We had the same idea as well and are already working on something like that behind the scenes :)

The system will work just like described, except that it's not needed to post a replay with any standard text, the bot can extract all attachments which should be sufficient.

As you can see on the board (http://wrs.gtplanet.net/GT5P/results/107/) replays are already uploaded, we 'just' need to add the 'verification' part :)

Maybe I was just reading "theoretical" a different way, then. In my mind, if you say something is "theoretical" then it means it is possible given the perfect conditions or execution. In this case the time might be IMpossible. I guess my question was just whether people realized the time might not be possible. :)

Up-date 1.07
Allows you to see the final times driven by everyone in your friends list.
In season events TT that is,like last week.
So no more WRS at this part I guess?

Easily solved - use a faster car to set your time on the leader-board, then carry on with the WRS car. :)

With regards to Mr.Bot getting involved in the verification process. Would it be possible to have a standardised post to indicate that you have downloaded a replay, such as: GTP_DOUQA Replay downloaded, then get the fetchbot to indicate this on the list. Then you'd be able to check the list and see exactly which replays still need checking.

Its just an idea though, you guys already do an awesome job for the WRS and I'm sure whatever you come up with will improve it further. 👍

It would be nice if there were two "theoretical fastest times" posted; one for wheel users and another for controller users. It would save me a lot of scanning up and down the lists and would probably make for an interesting comparison in general.

The leaderboard is broke again. Seems like my splits are too fast.:sly:

EDIT: it's running again.

Yes, steps have already been taken to solve the problem.... we'll just have to wait until it gets fixed as I can't fix it myself.

Ditto, I would wait until the morning when JB gets back on. Probably can't handle all the people posting on the leaderboards.

The server is stressing again.... i've contacted Jordan for a server reboot.

In the meantime you guys can keep on submitting your final times to the bot.

When the board is up again the private messages will be handled correctly, so no submitted times will be lost.

Thanks for keeping us posted!

Ok guys, the board is back up (thanks Jordan).

You should have received replies on your PM's by now.

To make sure your time is correctly processed you can send a 'get entry' PM to the bot (see the first post in the weekly threads for details).

In anticipation to the server problems the interval for the PM handling has been changed from 2 minutes to 10 minutes. So if you send a PM to the bot it can take up to 10 minutes before you get a reply. But we're hoping this is part of the solution to get the board stable again.

Joost
