GTP_WRS-Online : Academy/D-League Racing - Suspended Until GT7

Sjaak thanks for the PM about this. Very tempted to run this one ,but won't register for this race as I won't have enough seat time in my new rig. Hopefully taking delivery Friday but maybe not till Saturday. That's just cutting it to close to be comfortable for a race :nervous:. I will defiantly get in on this in the future though. Yeah,I saw your post about your new rig,take your time to get familiar with it.:)

We have every week a new race so plenty of opportunities to step in.
 
I just registered as Instructor. At the moment I think it's a 50/50 chance I'll be there, I'll update at the end of the week.
 
Altough I love this weeks combination, I will not be racing on Saturday (will be in SPA for the WEC 6 hours). I will be joining the wednesday races on the other hand ;)

You guys are in for a good time, did the wednesday race and it was awsome close racing !!

That's the popup menu on track where you can adjust brake balance, ABS, etc. there is a video on it in the wrs online comprehensive guide thread.
 
Just registered for the Academy this Saturday, got my internet connection working again, finally.

I have been away from this far too long. I hope that I can keep up with you guys :)
 
Nobody practiced today? I can't make the academy tomorrow, but would be willing to give a few tips today... maybe in 15-20 minutes (~20:00 GMT) if anyone is interested. I'll open the lounge in any case and run some laps for about 15-20 minutes and if nobody shows up I'll switch over to the B lounge and run some F1 practice.

EDIT: Oh well... nobody showed. Good luck tomorrow guys.

EDIT: GDS came at the last second and we had a nice 15-20 minute session. 👍

Tim, thanks for opening the lounge. Unfortunatly I won't be able to attend today as my daughter wants me to help with loading (supervising) the truck for her move today. I guess the "young bucks" don't have a clue, just muscle!!

I can only drive for short periods now until this right wrist of mine decides to stop hurting and giving me problems.

I understand you're problem with pain. I have an old back injury that plagues me and a back brace does'nt help that much. Just give it time to heal. It's hard to concentrate on the prefection needed to get the times required to do well with the high degree of competition in these TT's.

Awesome battles, especially with Al. I think we were pretty much within 50 - 100 meters the whole race :dopey:
A special thank you to Bart for the nice instructions, practiced in the afternoon with little or less improvement, after the Academy I was able to improve by a full second :)

Hopefully see you all next week.

Bought the Bimmer and ran about 10 laps on GP/F. Got my Bobs breaking it in right now. I'm hoping to run this Saturday but I've not signed up yet. I want to see how the wrist feels later in the week before committing myself to the event.

Love this car. It has such great balance and feel on the track. Most cars require at least some tuning to get to a decent level of drivability but not this one. I haven't even had to change the brake balance. This is also one of my favorite tracks so I'm very keen to race this event.

Out of curiosity, why aren't we running the Tesla? Typically this event follows whatever the TT's are running but not this time. I'm not complaining, mind you. I'm just curious.

Yes,if I remember it correct you can not pit or something like that.
The Wednesday races are around one hour so pitting and recharging would be a problem.
 
You can pit the tesla, but it only charges the battery a tiny bit... so once the power is out you'd basically be stuck dead in the water. JTV tested it and that was the final nail in the coffin. Honestly, we weren't really considering it race-worthy before finding this out as it's a very difficult combo and it could be very "messy" racing.

We evaluate every TT before we decide to use it for the online events. Most of the time a good TT combo means a good race combo, but not always. We don't want to limit the TT to only combos that will race well online so in those cases we come up with a substitute which will provide a better online racing experience. Also gives us a chance to use "tuning prohibited" feature only available online and get to race the cars in stock form as they were meant to be driven and thus often with harder tires which is fun! Sometimes I actually look forward to TT that don't race well online so we can come up with something original using tuning prohibited. :dopey:
 
It's a shame you can't turn off fuel consumption independent of tire wear. I think it would be interesting to do a full race with the Tesla. I guess the only option for a full race would be to go with Comfort tires and turn off tire wear/fuel consumption and make the race a few laps longer to make it interesting and to make up for pit strategies.

I got my car run in so it's at max PP now. Ran another 10 laps and cut about 2 seconds off my best time so far. When we run a car like this it's easy to see why people are so fanatically devoted to the brand. The car is absolutely joyous to drive!

Join us for practice tomorrow in the "Z"... main lounge and tire wear on FAST @ 19:00 GMT or sooner depending when people set up the lounge.
 
Majed,the registry shows you as Div.3 gold now 👍 which is the cut for veteran or rookie.

The stewards would like to give you the oppertunity to keep racing in the Academy so you are eligible to do so.:)

now I get to keep battling Dean for longer time trying to pass him :dopey:

Doesn't the battery recharge on hard braking? I see the little wave light changing from red to white when you brake so I thought it was replenishing on braking. Haven't tested it out given the little braking done here but it might be worth a try :)

Could be, but too late now and the "Z" at GP/F is a pretty amazing race combo if you ask me. :lol: (pats himself on the back). :sly:
