Just ordered three of these ASUS VN247H-P monitors from amazon.com and the obutto triple monitor mount... Should have the triple screen setup and running by the end of next week... maybe even use it for the F1 Monaco GP!!

Awsome, But I will stick to my big screen. The fact I need to have 3 pieces of everything, is the downfall. About the PS3 ; recently bought a new one, hope it gets me to the end of GT6 :)

Sweet setup Tim. 👍 I didn't realise you had the oZone seat. I tried the monitor mount when I first got mine but I thought it was too close and found it a little over-facing. I've ended up with a small table thingy in front of the pedals to put the monitor on - about 12" further back than with the mount. How do you find it?

Also on a happy racing gear note, my wonderful (and insane) missus has informed me she's getting me a Fanatec Clubsport wheel for my Birthday this year. :D With the Formula rim. I'm not sure what I've done to deserve it... and I've no idea how I can match it for her Birthday either. :sly: Only 4 months to wait...

Definitely jealous of that rig your gunna have Tim :)

And Chris, maybe she plays Gt5 in secret and has seen you beasting the time trials? :D

I've been using the single monitor mount with the obutto and a 26" for two years... Now moving down to 24" triples so it will be even "farther"... The distance is perfect for me unless there is any drop in frame rate or screen tearing.

I've had the obutto listed in my sig for two years so you must have sigs off. This was also my birthday gift from my wife! Got to hand it to the ladies!

Only problem now is the PVR is going to collect dust as the new monitors do not have composite input. I wish I had the newer haupage version with HDMI output... Not sure how I'm going to do videos and such now and definitely rules out live streams.

Put it down to my stunning powers of observation Tim. :dopey: And yeah, the wives of WRS are truly special.

I would agree! Mine bought me the PS3 and she bought my whole rig! I think she just wants me to stay out of her hair!!! LOL

👍 Better start saving up for 3 copy's of GT6, cause there is no way you would wanna go back.... :)

No wife here, so also no arguments about what I think I need ;)

Do you mean component?

That's an HDMI to Composite converter, we need an HDMI to Component converter. That's very hard to find, I once order one from a Japanese site and after about 4 weeks they returned my money saying it wasn't in stock.

Composite has the 3 way cable (one for image and 2 for stereo audio) for about 480p quality, Component has 5 (3 for image and 2 for stereo audio) for 1080i quality.

This is it. Try and order one.

Actually funny you should bring this up. Before getting a new TV, I used a HDMI to Component converter for about 2 years with no trouble, for the sole purpose of recording with my PVR.

This is the one I have, but as I said, this was bought about 2-3 years ago, so I'm sure there are better ones out there nowadays.

Edit: I should add, this one I had only properly supported 720p, but that was fine by me. (unless it was just my TV that couldnt handle the 1080i?)

Got my triple screen setup, but having a hard time getting the field of view and angles just right so the screens look like one continuous view... going to take some tweaking and research, but the monitors are pretty fabulous...

I'm going to attempt to do the Suzuka race tomorrow using triple screens, but it might send me over the deep end if I can't get the angles just right.

There is usefull thread in the GT 5 forum to help set them up easier, Ill try and find it.

Edit: found it https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=189301 hope the link works doing it on my phone.

Hurrah! After over a month waiting for it, my G27 FINALLY returned! This makes me pleased. Enough of that old DFGT!

does what wheel you have affect your speed that much? Clutch is prohibited so that is not the possible affect that i'm talking about.

I think Twissy is half serious. I'd say no, the wheel doesn't make that much of a difference as long as we are talking about relatively decent force feedback wheels and not some wanky plastic wheel without feedback. It doesn't hurt to have a higher quality wheel with better feedback and I think the experience can be better, but it doesn't make that much difference in pace.

Wheel versus controller is a different matter and can make a huge difference. More so on some combos then others and very relevant when tire wear is involved.

The pedals may be a bigger factor IMO. Often I think accurate braking and throttle control are more what separate the aliens from the earth bound rather than steering input.

Haha, this is the wheel I had before when I first started WRS. It was faulty so had to send it back and it took this long to be returned. I had forgotten how much of a nicer sensation it is compared with the DFGT. But yes, pedals are a huge thing.

I was wondering, since the online events are based on the time trials, who comes up with the car and track combination and tyre selection?

The team of admins do. Often it's EDK, but all of us on the team pitch in combo ideas.

Would I be correct in saying people can always suggest combos? Of course no guarantee it will be used.
