Where's the "Unlike" button? :grumpy:

I know... I was tempted to hit the report button, though... :P

I, too, realized there was something funny going on with those blue lines. At first, I thought I was going to be near the top of the list (in the FT-1 -- I was even ahead of all blue lines at T1!), but then saw that Bart, Jon and a couple more were at the top, but never saw their blue line.

I got gold on my first complete clean run (took a LOT of restarts, though), and then tried to improve for a little while, which I did, but not by much.

I have to agree with you @Speedy6543 - I don't have a problem using SRF to gold the seasonal TT's. I just want the money and the nice paint chips which are not available any other way, so shoot me, but it's not forced off so . . . blame PD.

I have a question that I've been meaning to ask on here. I was thinking because a lot of you use wheels it's the best place to ask rather than in the sim racing hardware forum because I would only be using it for GT6, not PC sims.

But anyway, which wheel is better - G27 or Fanatec Porsche GT3 RS with CSR Elites. These are my two choices, and all other variables aside I just wanted to gauge the general opinion about which one is better.

Fanatec, hands down... 👍 I've just moved up from a GT3RS and it has served me well. Had a G25 before that. The wheel is a step forward but the Fanatec pedals are leagues ahead of the Logitech ones.

I have had a G27 for a year. Can't say anything for Fanatec, but I can just tell you the G27 is lovely. Nice smooth FFB, feels lovely in your hands because of the leather, easy to reach shifters, 6 programmable face buttons. The shifter is meh, and pedals do the job. Summed up in a few words that is...

:D

I have used the G27 for a few years and it is a nice setup for the money. I have never used another wheel, so I can't compare it to anything else. I recently added the GTEYE spring to my brake pedal, which improved the feel of using the brake.

Yep that's the one. Its a great wheel and I was extremely happy with it until the missus said I could have the Clubsport :sly: However good the wheel is though, the biggest difference is with the Clubsport pedals; it can't be said enough how good they are, particularly the brake pedal and its load cell. The potentiometer in the throttle is magnetic too so no wearing out or getting dirty contacts.

Thank Chris. The good thing about this is, I can buy the bundle I linked, then upgrade the pedals. Then I can acquire the wheelbase and wheel later on so its not such a big hit all at once. That seems the way to go if a man can't dish out the money for the setup all at once.

I don't think there's much in it between the Elite pedals and Clubsports, ergo no need to upgrade. The Clubsport wheel though.... :mischievous:

That clubsport wheelbase makes me drool. As much as I hate to, I'll be buying another button ozone. I had some issues with the first one and even though they made it right, I'm still hesitant.

Hoping to be able to add some Clubsport v2 pedals to my T500RS rig pretty soon. Mr Basher is in the process of making a doohickey that'll magically allow the pedals to hook up to the wheel base and provide all of the necessary controls. Have to say though that since GT6 I'm not having nearly as much trouble with accelerator and brake control as I did on GT5 but having the added feel of the clubsports should take it to another level.

I will defenitly go in that same direction....

Sweet. I have three functional T500 bases and only 1 really functional set of pedals so this would be a good replacement when my pedals fail. Curious how much doohickey will cost.

Ps. I have 3 bases because I got the $150 deal on a new T500 from Microcenter and couldn't pass that up and got a used rig from a friend that barely used his for a good price. I'm set on bases for now. :sly:

Don't really know the $$$ yet Tim but it's got to be worth it though for building "the perfect rig"...Have you put your name on the list yet? If not I'll let you know when I get advice from him on availability etc 👍

BTW: you do know you have that the wrong way round right....multiple screens & one base not v.v.

I tried triple screens on the PS3 and dispatched it after two weeks. Too many glitches networking the three PS3's -- part way through races one or the other side screen always went offline.

It worked beautifully for one full length WRS-Online race though at Suzuka and it was stunning. I then tried it for our F1 race at Monaco last year and it was dizzying due to the speeds and the walls so close. But the glitches is what really killed it for me. I now use a side monitor connected to a PC which has GTP and google docs loaded and chat with the stewards during online races. So my triple monitor mount isn't wasted. :sly:

If I raced on the PC (which I don't) with one brain (the pc video card) driving all three screens (without an ethernet switch band-aiding them together) I'd use triple screens for sure.

I get confused just looking at one big screen...anything more and I'll need to hire an assistant :). Cool that you actually tried it though Tim and yes, the tech needs to improve before I'd have a go 👍

If I get wind of a price on the doohickey I'll post here.

Getting a wheel has been in my mind for ages. But let's just say a G27 sets me back around double of a mortgage payment in my country. I was really sick last year and out of a job for an year and a half. Just makes no sense...
For something completely different, People said the Megane understeered? That toyota front just won't turn...

Nothing wrong with the DS3 Javier, served me well for many years and to be honest I'm still not where I was on my DS3 so for me at least the change to a wheel has been hard but, worth it. Hope things improve for you and that you can get to try a wheel at some point.

That new Toyota is a handful, and it confused me. Not sure that it does under-steer but then I have no clue how to get it to go quick either. At first I thought it had no brakes :D

I actually really like the FT-1. I must be weird, but I had no trouble with it in an online race at Ascari. I think I won it too. It was at 550PP.

Just to be clear Iain, I hit the like button because you won a race with it not because I agree that your weird :D

From what I remember from the two laps I drove in the FT-1, it wasn't that understeering at all. I has a lot of straight line speed and the brakes are a bit weak, but the understeering can result from overspeeding into the corner ;) Or braking and turning at the same time.

Driving it just on the TT, at Laguna?

I did my lap last night, what I have on the board was my first, clean hotlap, I think a 1:32. I have a few racing hours on the track, both Sim and Real life.

A lot of straightline speed with the S1 tires, you definitely need to get the braking out of the way. I actually found it to have a lot of mid corner grip, as long as you slowed enough going in. The most troublesome turn for me on understeer vs. Real Life was turn 4, the fast right after T1. The game just feels narrower there, you can point the car and mash it in real life. And that includes in my Challenger. Just more so in the other cars I've driven there (1st gen MR2, E30, both stripped and caged).

Bang on same lap time I hit @EDK :) On that lap I actually struggled to get out of the final turn, tight left hander. Entered a tad early, but at an angle and speed I felt would see me through in most rear wheel drive cars, and it just wouldn't.

@EDK yep, on the TT for a 1:33 I think although I did then take it for a blast around Ascari and Trial Mountain and I think I got the hang of it but it's a confusing car. I thought initially it under-steered then that it had no brakes and then bizarrely that it actually went too fast.

Love watching your video's Kev and especially on Laguna. 👍.
