Great idea, but a small correction:

The opera is called Die Walküre (The Valkyrie) and is the second of a series of four operas, the whole cycle of four being called Der Ring des Nibelungen. The ride of the Valkyries is of course that piece that was made very popular by, among other things, Apocalypse Now!
Thanks for the help mate, you are right. The ride of the Valkyries is just an excerpt of Die Walküre. Anyhow, I think this would be an majestically ride as the opera also is.

When it turns up, the Lotus 97T around Spa could be quite special... :D

Also a VLN type event around the 'Ring in one of the GT3 cars might be fun as well. Or the same track in the BMW 320 touring car...in the rain :mischievous:

My thoughts the instant I read the post. The book the movie is based on, Joseph Conrad's "Into the heart of darkness" is great too, as is anything that guy wrote. Throw a man into chaos and see what he is capable of.
And now for something completely different.
How about an absolute record for each track? I mean no car restrictions, tuning allowed, no SRF maybe three categories divided by hp (up to 300hp, 500hp, 500hp and over). Players post their laps as we do in WRS but add the replay and car specs. We could keep an LB with the fastest posted record for each track and category and keep the competition ongoing, without time frame. Anybody registered is free to choose car, track and setup as long as the Hp limits is respected.
Probably on the wild side but I'd like to see who is the king of each track...

I keep persevering with fast car combos and I can't do it, I'm old and lacking in fast-twitch muscle fibres. I really need a lower powered combo. My handicapped results from the last few combos have been:

Week 14 - 463 (304bhp) Subaru 22B: -0.22114
Week 15 - 518 (377bhp) Renault Megane: 0.22333
Week 16 - 511 (348bhp) Nissan Z: 0.17320
Week 17 - 611 (622bhp) Chevrolet Camaro: 0.33337
Week 18 - 507 (379bhp) Lotus Evora: -0.09164
Week 19 - 574 (493bhp) Honda HSV: 0.82907

I don't think it's any coincidence that my best performances were in Weeks 14 and 18. I'm not even going to try this week as a car like that is not just out of my comfort-zone, it's out of my comfort-universe!

If any other DS3 users have advice for an old, slow dinosaur on how to get to grips (literally!) with fast car combos I'd love to hear from you...I feel like a super-n00b setting traction control on high and letting it help me exit corners confidently?!?

In general, I am pretty average with the fast cars too. Have you messed about eith the steering sensitivity at all?
I use +2 for what its worth.

That's a good point, I've heard sensitivity mentioned before and I've not played much with it...I might do that next time I'm on the PS3. Cheers @Barra333 👍

Sorry, no advice here (and I don't use DS3) but I won't be running week 20 combo. I'm sure it made a lot of people happy but I'll wait for something slower.

For faster cars with traction (this week) I'll try a 2-3 sensitivity. Also if you're spinning to much on exit you can do a couple of things.. hold the throttle steady until it builds, or pumping the throttle in quick repetitions, getting on the gas hard and upshift when it starts to spin. You can also try holding your thumb stick straight up (or forward) and rotating it (counter) clockwise for more precise turning.

I know its frustrating on slippery weeks with a ds3, but if you take the time to learn what techniques work for you, you'll be greatly rewarded and have more satisfying weeks. Don't be afraid to try off the wall stuff.. sometimes against the grain wins. Good luck

I can understand why people are having issues with this combo. It is difficult, the car is hard to control but wouldn't the WRS be rather boring if we did the same "easier" combos week after week? I have on many occasions had to walk away from the TV and take a break because it was just soooooo hard and I couldn't figure out the car or the course. I have always taken the attitude that the WRS staff is trying to teach me something and I owe it to them to keep plugging away at it. I look back at my on going streak which started back in Oct of 2011 and I am pleased I never dropped a combo. D4 Bronze is where it began and D2 Bronze is where I am now. I must say that these really fast high grip combos are now my absolute favourites. Please reconsider giving it a go, you will only get better at them and there are no penalties for a + handicap any more!!!!!!

Just my thoughts, Al

I may give it a go over the weekend if I get time, I'm keen to tinker with this sensitivity malarkey...I'm trying to get Gold in that damn GT Academy Round 4 as well though! Fast cars have never been easy for me, ever since that Toyota around Monaco back in GT3 or whatever it was?!? Don't get me wrong, admin do a superb job putting these combos together and I can't praise them enough, I think it's just one of those things. I had wondered if it was a DS3 thing, but @ItsAllAboutWins and @Spud_Skills have proven that's not it...I'm pretty sure the problem exists between the PS3 and the lounge :sly:

While that would probably slightly more newb friendly I think we can really use a break from all these fast machines. I vote for a non-race car. Something fairly slow, maybe even FF. Alpine A110 would be fun.

Didn't say it had to be this week ;) just in the future, it could be fun.. i get what you're saying though. Need to tame it down some this week

Not sure how I can like this more times...there has to be a way :sly:👍

Circuit de la Sarthe combo.. this weekend.. make it happen in a gt1, 2 or 3 car..

On a completely unrelated note, I'll be spending a week banging head against a brick wall... because I'd rather do that than drive another lap of that track. :banghead:

 Not objecting to the suggestion, it's a good one in my opinion, just saying I won't be doing it if it happens. 👍

Surely something at Le Mans Matt?

Maybe one of the LM Vettes?
