GTP_WRS Week 52 : Focus on the Apex

Think I may be getting the hang of that chicane with this car, still not too sure though. My times are more consistent, but still behind my best through there by roughly .050-.125. Any advice here would be greatly appreciated. Really struggling to find the groove here in that section with this car. My ass is stuck here in this seat today until I figure it out. :grumpy: I've locked the doors, pulled the shades, and turned off the phone.......dedication and determination, its what's for breakfast today.

I fight the oversteer in entering the chicane by smooth brake release and smooth acceleration while overlapping these two actions.

Yea, tried that and it doesn't seem to work for me. :banghead: I'll go back and try it some more, maybe I'm just being too aggressive with those actions. :boggled: Thanks Mike.

Some questions for anyone willing to help.

  • Entrance speed into there.
  • Speed at the shadow (from the overhead sign) in the middle part of that chicane
  • Exit speed
  • Is it better to use more lock and full throttle or less lock and feather the throttle (think I worded that right for what I mean :boggled:)
  • Line through there. Clipping the apexes? Start wide, then tighten up clipping the last apex? Keep tight at the beginning, then come out wide at exit?
Lot of questions I know, but I am just trying desperately to wrap my head around this section. I'm about ready to cry damnit. :guilty: :indiff:  Not really, but I am really frustrated at this point.

I think my last sector is quite good, but maybe a tiny bit slower then Mike's :P
Just try to be ready with braking before entering the chicane and focus on the exit speed and line. (around 116-120 km/h at the exit curb) Enter the long left from the left-middle of the track and reduce your speed when entering the tripple combo and keep it close until the last curb.

Thank you, trying it now. :)

EDIT: Do I enter in 3rd or 4th gear?

I certainly hope I did the final chicane well. I surprised myself last time the WRS event was here.

Slight improvement... not sure if I can do any better... still never really figured out T2.

17.909
36.892

On a separate note, can somebody help me with some terminology. A couple of you are using the term "lock" and I'm not quite sure exactly what it means.

@EDK was talking about "releasing lock" in T2 and @GTP_CargoRatt was talking about "using more lock"

Sorry if this is an ignorant question, but is anybody willing to elaborate on what precisely this means in terms of driving technique?

Its steering lock. How much you turn the wheel in one direction towards the locked position, or the point where it stops turning.

My wheel is so worn out if I try to go lock to lock it's just "gear - grind - teeth jump - chadder" ..... oh the good ol days. I have to start turning so early and pre slide the car so there is less to turn when I need to flick it. ......

Just threw away a 17.660/36.360. 🤬 :banghead:  :ouch: :grumpy:

Going into my 9th hour now , I will not stop until I get this. Its going to be a long night, morning, Sunday....whatever it takes....a marathon if you will. Hope I'm not annoying you guys with this small talk every now and then, but it kinda helps to keep me sane to take a small break and post something. Hopefully someone will be by from time to time to check on me throughout the night/morning. Who volunteers to have Ratt watch? I've come too far and have gotten too close to stop now....the marathon continues. :boggled:

"Burning Heart"
Two worlds collide
Rival nations
It's a primitive clash
Venting years of frustrations
Bravely we hope
Against all hope
There is so much at stake
Seems our freedom's up
Against the ropes
Does the crowd understand?
Is it East versus West
Or man against man
Can any nation stand alone

In the burning Heart
Just about to burst
There's a quest for answers
An unquenchable thirst
In the darkest night
Rising like a spire
In the burning heart
The unmistakable fire

In the burning heart

In the warriors code
There's no surrender
Though his body says stop
His spirit cries - never!
Deep in our soul
A quiet ember
Know it's you against you
It's the paradox
That drives us on
It's a battle of wills
In the heat of attack
It's the passion that kills
The victory is yours alone

In the burning Heart
Just about to burst
There's a quest for answers
An unquenchable thirst
In the darkest night
Rising like a spire
In the burning heart
The unmistakable fire

Just about to burst

Since I just can't wait any longer, I should have my new T300RS Monday. I have been holding off thinking that Sony and PD would finally release a GT (7 of some kind) Game/Console/Wheel package, so I thought I would start without them. I hope my times will reflect my investment :nervous:

I hope it's better then the G27 :dunce: (no need for a clutch but I do like my DFGT's remote shifter)

Now I'm going ta grab a high ball and a fatty, and flip on the combo as I proceed to finish off my old wheel and fight through the switch back :P
