After half an hour of tuning and an hour of driving, my first forray in to chasing a fast lap in weeks (my only other driving has been casual racing with friends, and not much of it because my internet won't stay online for very long at a time, and the connection is terribly unstable):

T1- 31.441
T2- 57.867
T3- 1'14.461

My T1 was 0.2sec slower than my best, and my tune will have to wait for another day, if anyone wants it that is.

I wouldn't mind giving your tune a bit of a workout Paulie 👍 although I'm not sure if I could match those splits

By the way, how fast are you guys going when you cross the s/f line?

268 Km/s and 27x Km/s (where x is: 0, 1, & 2) and in an online race I was drafting and hit the rev-limiter at the start line guess it was 280+

Still not up there with a certain monkey who is chunkee, I'd need to have another go and nail T1 this time to do that (Nice lap Chunkee). At least I've hit the bus stop well this lap. Nice to meet you btw, always nice to see more Aussie floating around.

This car has some grip and that 🤬 wall at the first corner has some stopping power :banghead: I need a few more laps and another triple bomb before i post any splits!

I've never really liked this track. Now having tried one session in the Alfa I started wondering why and came to the conclusion that its because of my inconsistency in determining where to start braking for the corners. Especially after long straights this indecisiveness is poison for laptimes not to even mention in racing situations where I would lose even more time in fear of crashing into the guy in front of me. My usual method is trying to keep an eye on anything beside the track for example at the end of Fujis main straight theres a narrow strip of tarmac on the left side. This doesnt work so well for me on Daytona though so i was wondering if anyone could give me some tips (not for Daytona but improving braking technique overall.) I know practice practice and then some would probably be the best advice but Im more interested in what kind of methods other people use to perfect their braking. I dont know what kind of benefits pedals and wheel offer but I wont be able to use those because of my handicap.

Thanks in advance

For turn one there is a white strip on the outer edge of the road just before where the red/white barriers start on the outer edge, this white strip makes a great braking marker. For those who hadn't quite figured that out yet.

:tup:Thanks for the tip! 👍 I don't really have any experience on this track. Gave it a few laps at lunch. Look forward to getting better as the week goes on. My slower times should encourage others to post their on the leader board I hope.

Slowly getting better. Loving this combo! :)

First couple of laps. An easy drive compared to last week

A few tenths left in T1, sector 2 is really close my limit with Kevin's tune. I tweaked Kevins tune by reducing 5th and 6th gear and put ABS back to 1.

31.218
57.641
1'14.191

Slightly cautious through bus stop :P

First crack at this one, time to be made all over the place though.....

T1 - 31.623
T2 - 58.411
T3 - 1'15.088

I probably should have mentioned when I posted the tune that it was setup for online, and the slipstream. With top speed set at 170 MPH, you can get more speed at the start finish. 👍

I managed some slightly improved splits tonight.

Should make it back again before deadline, although I am away this weekend.

WOW! Just when I thought I was right behind you on the board you go and do something like this. Sweet splits all around - haven't seen that much red since I downloaded that PAL save data set from this place only to find out every car was red except the GT LM.

The individual sector times for the top 3 are really tight, well done to Aderrrm for edging ahead by the required incraments in each sector to build that great lap.👍:)

Really enjoying the combo, perhaps the first time I really like to go around Daytona Road. Paulie's tune felt ok but not great, so next session I'll try out Kevin's setup which is said to be a good one.

The combination with the online racing is really addictive and fun, I hope that in the full game we can do this more often 👍

First splits coming up tonight.

Also, nice to see that the new leaderboard is doing so great and being so stable. The design rework should be available any time next week to fit the functionality with a shiny look. Alba and Joost are true wizards with techno gook :D

Is there something I can do to make it better?

Errr ... about the gearbox, its max for Suzuka is not suited for DR (especially when also using it in draft in the online race-setup) and it hesitates from 2nd to 3rd - but that could also be the machine and not the tune. About the cornering, it would help if you could see if it could handle more predictable under the extreme circumstances of the first lefthander after the looong straight.

Thanks 👍

I'd love to give it a try if you would like to PM it to me. 👍

I've always suspected that DR is one of those tracks that you can't have a good tune for the whole thing. You can either design it to do well in the first 3 sectors or the last 2 sectors. You may have a tune that gets you to T3 really quick but if she can't get through the busstop with good speed then you're in trouble. To me, the busstop is nothing like any other part of that track and how you exit it and what speed you exit it with really means alot at the finish line.

Also, I used to think that tires were the great equalizer in this game and that once you got into the R series the lines between divisions could get blurred very quickly - clearly I'm wrong this week so far.

This would be a great week to do a final analysis on everyone's early splits and their final sectors - maybe I'll undertake that effort. :)

I too would also like to give Paulie's tune a run through. PM is good for me Paulie ;)

I gave EDK's tune a bit of a tweak that gave me a little more acceleration & gave me the splits that are current. :)

I know there is quite a bit of time I can cut off. Everytime I get an epic run I either get timid at the Busstop and brake way, way too much :nervous: or I lock up and hit the wall just outside of the Busstop. At that point my decent sector times are garbage.

Can't keep me down for long, missing you guys already 👍

Gave it a little go today lost a little to T3 but I'll find it again :sly:

T1: 0'31.440
T2: 0'58.089
T3: 1'14.795
