Great lap!
Specs look correct and the lap is very clean.

Your submitted splits were .347 quicker to T2 than mine but your lap was only .037 quicker.
Our last corner was very similar in speed and I would think it was the way you turned into the second to last corner that cost you the 3 tenths.
You turned in sooner than I and then started braking about a third of the way to the apex.
You had to brake again at the apex so I'm not sure if it was your preferred line in this lap. It's hard to hit them perfect every time.
After braking in a straight line near the markers, I turned into the 2nd to last corner just before the 50 meter marker then coasted wide which let me get on the gas long before the last corner.
My example is like Crazytortise's lap but I have seen both entries to this corner while watching replays this week.

sigh, very disappointed with the lap, thanks for the replay check. I finally figured everything out with about an hour to go, remind me not to wait until the last minute to better my time. lol I had about 10 laps below 1'36. one was a .744 but they were all with me having three wheels in the grass after the next to last corner.... sigh. thats why I tapped the brakes one more time, I did that with about 15 minutes to go and wanted to make sure I bettered my time a little bit. I knew I was going to drop several places on the leaderboard.... and I didn't figure out the part of letting the car coast through some of the corners until the last day...

thanks again, hopefully I'll do better this week.

Good lap with the correct specs and clean.

You have the basics down for getting on the throttle.
You may need to be more confident in your braking.
I'm sure it's better than I could do with a controller, so 👍 to you.

The only suggestions I have about the lap, you were a bit deep going into Hammerhead and more important you should have taken the Follow Through at full speed.
You were too inside to take full advantage of speed here and it cost you a lot of time, maybe 1.5 seconds.
I say 1.5 seconds because I used your ghost and came out of Hammerhead along side you and had over a 2.5 second lead on you by the finish line.
It may be closer to 2 seconds because your last 2 corners were pretty good.

Keep at it!!

sigh, very disappointed with the lap, thanks for the replay check. *snip* hopefully I'll do better this week.

Don't be disappointed if you gave it your best. ;)

And as for doing better next week part..........as long as you don't beat me, again. :sly:

Here's my NTSC replay. Sorry for the close calls around the tires and the next-to-last corner, but I'm sure they're legal.

Man 01GTP is the checking machine! I'm grabbing Apollo33's so I don't seem like a slacker. I think that's the only unchecked NTSC...

Lap was clean , but it seems to have been run under just the "Carlos" account and not the "GTP_Carlos" account. Hopefully that is still accepted?

Apart from that, it is like watching a mirror image of my own lap, virtually indentical times (+0.002) and almost identical lines/speeds as well. One tip I noticed is the same mistake that I was making. Around hammerhead you were travelling around 46-48kph (just as I was), whereas all the faster guys were only doing 42kph but taking a tighter line (we were running a bit wide and not hugging the red line on exit). Not much advice I can give you though.
Right at the start on the straight I noticed you touched the dirt which may have slowed you down by the +0.002 :sly:

Thanks Sidplayos for the replay review – I’ll keep off the dirt next time (and hopefully beat you in the process)!!!

On a more serious note, I was concerned by your report that the replay not showing with my GTP tag. I had a play around last night and now understand what happened. My PS3 user account is ‘Carlos’ and is associated with my ‘GTP_Carlos’ PSN ID. This is the same account that I used to run my qualifier on, and sure enough, the replays for that both show the GTP tag. Additionally, my current saved replays for WRS week 9 are all with my GTP tag, but as you rightly point out, my week 8 replay just shows ‘Carlos’. Now, I always run with my PSN automatically signed in, but last week there were some network issues and it kept giving me an error when it tried to sign in. I raced on regardless assuming there to be no issue, but it now appears that if the PSN is not active i.e. not signed in, the game defaults to using the user account name, which in this case is Carlos.

Regardless of the reason, I have clearly, albeit unwittingly and without knowledge until it was raised by Sidplayos, contravened the WRS rules. As such, I will assume my time for week 8 be discounted and will abide by any penalty administered by Vaxen, EDK, Synwraith and the rest of the team.

I feel so dumb - my sincerest apologies to all.

I have wondered about that and I think you should be okay if it wouldn't sign you in to PSN. My profile name is completely different from PSN ID so if I couldn't sign in it would look like a completely different person running the race. My opinion is knowing there were outages for everyone last week it should be allowed, especially since this wasn't a week were you had to do an online time trial like a previous week.

@Carlos
You should check into renaming your PS3 user account to GTP_Carlos as well. When I created my GTP account I named my user the same because I think someone had mentioned this exact possibility.

I've had a Ps3 for almost 4 years and didn't know you could edit your user name or even add a photo until you mentioned it Apollo. You learn something new every day.:)

Thanks for the support guys. Hopefully the admins will agree with you mcfizzle.

@Apollo33 - In hindsight naming the user the same as the PSN would have been the smart move, especially as it is a user deliberately set up to run WRS, but hey, my life's littered with things like that! I did have a look into retrospectively editing the user name, but couldn't find out how. Would appreciate any pointers.

@Chuk - thanks man, that means a lot especially as it was my first WRS. Regardless of the final decision, I was happy with my time and my performance, and at the end of the day, that's all that matters really. Having said that, I seem to be running better this week (for now at least) so I would be a bit gutted if I were to get a suspension or something similar.

Again, thanks for the support guys.

I'm actually not sure if you can rename it, that's why I just said he should "check into it". But if he only uses it for GT5, I think he could make a new user with the GTP_Carlos name and copy over the GT5 save information from the other user since it's the same PSN login.

I wouldn't count the lap as being invalid yet. Everyone is quite reasonable here and what you mention i'm sure will be taken into consideration. Also like Chuck says, even if you are not 'officially' on the board it is still a great lap and no reason to apologize. Also this should not we counted as a DSQ as such, since it was just a mistake, not like you are trying to gain an unfair advantage by bashing into walls or running off the track. I think this would be treated more as if you just had not submitted a time at all (if they decide to do that). And it could be easily verified by something like becoming a members friend on request with the "Carlos" account, and then sending an email from the PS3 "Carlos" account to that member and they could confirm they got that message. That would prove it was indeed your account? I would be happy to do this for you if required to get your lap 'officially' validated.

As long as you had fun, and learnt something on the way then that's a great start anyway. But maybe check that your Week9 will be using a correct account to avoid this again.

I would be a bit gutted if I were to get a suspension or something similar.

I don't think they'll be that severe, because this isn't a case of you trying to deceive anyone. :) They may disallow the time to stand because it's not the right account, but you shouldn't, and probably won't, be punished for a logistical problem. But that's just my opinion. The admins will settle it when they wake up and get time to look at it.
We're all trying to learn how to do this better, and with 70-80 people from all over the world working to coordinate efforts every week, these things happen. Again, since no one suspects you did anything wrong to get an advantage, it's not a major infraction. The key will be to fix it, and there are plenty of people here who will help you do that. 👍
Any way you look at it, you ran a great race, and welcome to the WRS!!!

Race On!

And what Sid said.

Just to clarify on his behalf since I'm here: His PS3 user name is "Carlos", and it's tied to his PSN name "GTP_Carlos". When you do a race in GT5, if you're signed into PSN at the time it shows the driver as your PSN name (GTP_Carlos), but if you're not signed into PSN it shows the driver as your PS3 name (Carlos). So, it's all one account, and there's nothing to verify.

The only reason I'm aware of for having to create a GTP_ name is to represent the forum in online races, so because this wasn't an online race, I think the lap should count. But there are some who consider the rules to be ends in themselves, so you never know.

Clean lap, specs correct! You obviously don't need any pointers, as you were hanging tough with the Div3 podiums! Nice work! Those splits were what I was shooting for, and matched them a couple times, but you put it all together like a pro. 👍

Thanks for checking and for the kind words. :)

"Sleeping"... "knocked out so other people can have a chance"... same thing. :D

@Sid - definately had fun, and also learnt a thing or two, not least of which being my ageing 200degree driving force wheel is a bit sketchy at detecting understeer (that's my excuse anyway)! I'd be happy to verify any way it's requested, but it's as Apollo describes...

@Chuk - thanks again for the support. Like I said before, I only have to convince myself that I gave it my best to sleep well at night. I'm content, but I'll accept any decision handed down in the interests of keeping the WRS peace.

@Apollo - thanks man, guess we'll see what happens

Feeling the D3 love (and you too Sid)!

@Carlos - I did the same thing in my first week - I'm still here racing :)

It's no biggie - mistakes are there to be learned from, I learned from mine! :D

Thanks for the check, Apollo!

I haven't been able to view but one replay this week. :guilty:

Work and taxes [Gonna be filed by Friday!]! :grumpy:

Then time to catch up and watch some of those fast hot laps posted!! 👍

You can rename it. When the PS3 starts up move to the profile you want to change the name of, it should coincide with your GTP PSN account. Press triangle to bring up different options. Select 'information', I believe, and you can edit it there. You can also set a picture instead of that smiley face.👍

@01GTP, Thanks for checking my replay and the pointers. I do better with the controller, for some reason I can't figure out the wheel, I think I have to mess around with the set up more or just plain old more practice. I don't actually get alot of time where I can use it without upsetting the rest of the house unless I'm on Daytona (no noise just turning left!)

It felt like a fast lap, but I'm still in the middle of the pack.
