GTP_WRS'ers and their setups

My setup.

That is some sweet gear, and love the layout of that scalectics! (however that's spelled).

Cheers :) Yea rip the magnets out of the slotcars and its just another version of sim racing...Many of hours of fun building the track and racing my mates with a couple of beers.

Can't use this full time since it takes quite a bit of space.
My pregnant wife is already not so happy i am playing GT most of the time.
Probably will have to take this down once the holiday is over.

When i am not using the DS3, i got this:

IMGP9607-XL.jpg

Bonus points to whoever can guess from which car i got this seat from ;) ?

E30 is the correct answer :D

I wanted to find the sportier seat version (bucket style) on a 325i, but when you go to the salvage yard, you are pretty much at their mercy, or whatever they have on hand.

The steering is fixed, but everything else is adjustable!
The pedals move when needed obviously, and they are at the correct distance from the seat.
The seat can move up and down, recline and slide back and forth.

i designed and measured the set up to match my exact driving/sitting position in my E36.
When the seat is pull up all the way, my hands are at the correct shoulder height, and distance from my chest.
This is MY setup.

If a person is taller, he or she just have to move the seat back.
If a person is shorter, he or she just have to move the pedals closer.

And you move in and out of the cockpit as you would in a Formula car ;)
I am just missing the seat belt to make it feel more real :)

And everything is foldable and put away easily.
The 50 inch plasma looks small on the photos but it's the right size to play with GT5/6.

Now i have no excuses to put down lousy times... except for lack of times :P

Credits also go to my roomate who collaborated on the idea, and who pushed me to make it.
Also to my dad who improved it, putting the cherry on top of the cake.

Built this about a year ago after using a wheel stand and junk yard seat for a couple of years.

Shifter mount does right and wrong side on the fly, seat has sliders too. :sly:

A Lotus Exhige provided the ergonomics measurements.

Had to build it myself to get it right. :D

Sweet set-up and some pretty nice looking engineering 👍

BTW: How do you find the F1 wheel with the T500 ?

Thanks, spent a lot of time on it.

I really like the F1 rim, especially for open-wheelers, LMPs, and even the karts!
I probably use my 458 rim more than anything now though because its so versatile.
Removed my static paddle shifters after getting the 458 rim, I use the GT rim with TH8RS.

You must have read my mind :D. I have been thinking about getting the 458 rim but could only see your F1 in the picture hence the question.

Thanks for the info

Glad to be of help. :)
Will try to find a more up-to-date photo of the rig to post later.

Of the 10K miles I have done so far in GT6, I have to say about 7K were done on GTE 458 rim.
Of course that ratio may change if we get some F1 cars in the future...:sly:

Here is a shot of the GTE 458 & F1 rims front-to-front (almost same diameter).

I am using both F1 an the 458 wheel, did not like the GT wheel in the beginning cause of the noises it makes, but once you get used to it, it is a big improvement over the standard GT wheel. T500RS is the best investment i did so far for online racing, togheter with my rSeat....

That's all the confirmation I needed Frank, thanks....off to my nearest Thrustmaster retailer to get a 458 rim :D 👍

Edit: Ordered, will be with me early next week....wooohooo

There a 3 screws on the face of the GTE 458 rim that tend to loosen after a couple of hours of first use.
(thanks to Firecracker for the original post)
And thanks to mrbasher (of Basherboards.com) there is another tip regarding the "creaking" of the GTE 458 rim.
Seems that can be minimized by tightening a couple of screws on the back.
Some have even gone as far as opening the wheel and installing insulation.

Link to Firecracker's post on T500 thread about GTE 458 rim center screws.
Link to post about GTE 458 rim's two rear crosshead screws on T500 thread.
Link to post about insulation install on GTE 458 rim on T500 thread.
^^ (My worry is how this might affect the warranty)

And thanks guys for all the "likes" left for my rig. :)

Wow, thank you so much for this and for the initial confirmation about that 458 rim. Can't wait to get my hands on it now and I really owe you

@JogoAsobi @Racingworld68 The Ferrari rim is installed and it's an absolute beauty :). I'm not having any issues with noise or anything so maybe they have done something to the design recently.

Having the shifter paddles rotate with the wheel is so much better than the fixed paddles and the fact that they are closer to the rim makes it much more comfortable and much more natural for me.

Now all I need to do is figure out a button mapping that includes the RA menu :)

Thanks again for the recommendation 👍

Nice to hear it worked out for you.

I do the RA via my DS3, but its still borked, hopefully completely fixed in next update.
The R1/L1 on DS3 won't work when T500 is also being used, known bug.

A known bug that seems to have been fixed in 1.03! Very nice they have this back because I always use my DS3 to navigate menu's instead of the Button box thing that comes with the G27 with the gear stick.

This is my setup:
It's not much, but it's good enough for me. I hope you like my gloves as well.
I like the headphones. I have the same ones :)
Edit: @Dean Unless those are the 700's? They look a bit bigger in that pic, I have the 500's which is what most people have.

I started out with an AK Rocker chair and an Ikea stand...
...after that I had junkyard seat and wheel stand for a couple of years...
...so it looks pretty fine to me. As long as its stable, thats more than half the battle. 👍 👍

I am interested to know though, how do you ever type with your laptop tucked behind the wheel like that? I see what looks like a HDMI coming from your laptop so I presume you project your screen onto the bigger one behind, which I guess is hooked into the PS3 as well, but do you have a USB keyboard out of sight or something?
