GTPlanet 2015 - The Year according to Us.

Overall this year was pretty cool. I made new friends and it felt nice being known. GTP evolved, I think it was the Million Posts....and the Fun Runs team came back over the summer. So what I'm saying is, I don't care which part of the forum you're from. Yes, even the dreaded drag forums you make GTP a special place for us. Whether you're @RACECAR making our schemes for the B-spec series, or you're @nascarfan1400 delaying the Fantasy Series, for all I know you could be like @Jahgee & @rallymorten spreading Dank memes in the air! @Angel actually gave me a chance in Season 2 of her series. I drove a bit better. But my attendance wasn't the best in it....Sorry I have friends that are my age also over here. @GTRacer22 & @GranTurismo916 to name a few. @vetteman24 is cool guy to hang with in the Fun Runs rooms since he seems to be sane while the rest of us lose it Then in the MLP forum you have @FrzGT & @Alutec with @SonicCharmeleon & @EliteBeast55 & @Silver Wing . And then you Mister Funny man @BayneHamlin1121 who just won't stop when he knows when to. @swiftsmith my team owner for the Swift Autosport Subsidiary Smurf Autosport. @ToyGTone for just being here and sending off some good information. @Ameer67 for being my info base for when I need him. Side story actually for when I wasn't user. So in the GT5 days and Pre GT6 days, I used to lurk around here for some things regarding the games. And every time I would come here I would look for Ameer's posts first. Then I would look around. I got big respect for the guy. Then when I joined finally, then I joined his crew which we just retired yesterday sadly. Also @Beav is guy I've learned to like greatly and we're good friends now! @BKGlover is guy who has everything in him no matter what. Ask him and he's there. @Formidable for having that good stuff ya know what I mean? @Michelin for being the tire brand of my choice. @Harsk100 for making me laugh at the stuff he does, for good reasons not bad. @chengman for making fun of Ameer when he's not in the rooms, and for making awesome lobes when we're bored. The Mods for keeping the site clean and fresh from Multiple Identity freaks, people who think they should be mods as soon as they join, and other mind boggling ideas.

Irregardless of my actual commitment to any sort of racing (thanks life), I've definetly met some amazing people. Due to my own stupidity, I don't really remember any usernames to tag, so yeah, you guys know who you are.

GTPlanet is a sprawling entity, with all sorts of activities going on here and there at any given time 24/7. So we tend to miss each other sometimes and it also depends on what the member is currently engaged in. At times a swath of players will move from one game to another, or from one platform to another and forum demographics change.

In 2015 I spent the majority of my time in the GT6 Forum (itself a large collection of subfora) though I had mainly only time for the General Board, Seasonal Events/Quick Match Forum, the Course Maker Forum, and the Photomode Forum.

However - I would like to wish those awesome guys that I ogle from a safe and respectful distance; guys in here:

who are, to me, the heart and lungs of this site.

A very Happy New Year to you Club, League, and WRS folk as well as all you tuning gods - and may 2016 bring the best rush ever and new wrinkles to the Series.

I guess we are now all looking forward to GTSport for the PS4 - hopefully in a few months - and the eventual release of GT7! I have tried Project Cars but the camera ain't all that good - good car photography relies on angles and PC does not have them!! It stuffs up my photo taking, though it does have a few filters more than GT.

So, to all you guys and gals who have liked my photo posts, have seen them but ignored them, have had me like your photo posts or you have simply seen my name somewhere in passing - HAPPY 2016 and may the force feedback be with you!

Seeing as I've got three mentions here... thanks guys!

These past few years have been bittersweet for me. Work and family have pulled me away from GTPlanet steadily over the years, as they have already done, irrevocably for GT itself... and this year, I've simply been dipping in from time to time rather than staying on and having a grand old time, as in the past... I mean, it's great that oldies like @JohnBM01 have come back after an absence, but really... it feels disconcerting to time warp forward a few days, weeks or even a month and land straight back on the same planet.

I've had a grand time playing, learning and re-learning stuff here, from gurus like @Scaff and the insights gained in debates with the likes of @Danoff and @Famine have been eye-openers, even though I'd never shied away from the like in my time on other boards, I've gained a fair appreciation of the art and science of critical thinking over these years.

It's no secret that many of us have parlayed our experience in GT and at GTPlanet into careers in motoring media outside of it. And some of those people aren't here anymore, while others, I interact with more on the dreaded Facebooks than GTP. (For those of you who are still active here... hi guys!) I find it funny that this (not-so) little site has spawned so many of us... and here's to hoping that over the next ten years, it will spawn more.

There's many others I rap with - but I have to admit that because GTPlanet is so sprawling and I tend to roam a bit I may have missed out on mentioning many a guy - no hard feelings, just memory lapses of the moment.

Some very active threads from you this year, and some quiet (but healthy) ones, too - in case you didn't know - that Tractor thread is one I always check when it gets bumped. I grew up next to a dairy farm till I was ten - and had many an argument with those monsters of tractive force. Should I be proud that I actually fell off one?

Real life - for those of us who actually venture out of the virtual to explore what quanta have cooked up in reality - can be wearing.
It's like being forced to go on a fourteen kilometer hike around Silent Lake with a 42 pound rucksack strapped to one's aching back. Then you stumble back to the campsite after midnight - rows of tents all dark, everybody else in having had their fun and are now in their bedrolls.
But in one tent a light still shines - and just outside the tent a little fire with a pot of java warming. You know you can stumble up to this tent and the owner will be only too glad to give you a nod and put a warm cuppa into your hand. You're back home.

That's the sort of light that TB keeps on here. Is there anyone who doesn't know him?
Watch - I'm not even tagging him - but he'll be around like a bear sniffing honey.

This guy is family to everyone eventually - a great inspiration to us all - and we're lucky to have him around. He knows, I hope, that at any given moment - whatever the cause - I have his back.

Others who have been most kind to me from the very first moment I joined (these guys go way back with me) were @Cano, @a6m5, @AOS- and @diabolicwyvern (a.k.a. the Panda) from the Hot Wheels discussion and (in addition to TB) @Solid Lifters, @Omnis, @FoolKiller, and @35mm in the Food Thread. There was no lack of activity if these guys were around and they have been super company in the Rumble Strip Threads year after year.
@Grayfox, @Carbonox, @Dennisch, @neema_t, @Pako, @Luminis, - these guys were outstanding good fun in many threads in the Rumble Strip as well as the Electronics Forum where I dared poke my head sometimes for the occasional shock
There is no lack of Hobby Threads at GTPlanet - enough for its own sub-forum really, and in the many I participated many members come to mind immediately - @R1600Turbo, @Holdenhsvgtsr, @Venom800tt, @Ramanujan, @Spacegoat, @Sonygamer455 , @Nessy and lots (and lots,) of newcomers last year to the game of collecting, assembling or customizing one object or another, whether cars or guns - and a prolific member who no doubt has caught a lot of attention in Model threads, the Food thread, and the GT6 Photomode forum - @RCKakashi14, whose models were even featured in the GTP News Section.

Looking back on 2015, there was an excellent pick-up in activity across all the Hobby Threads - including the Railfan and Watch threads where I hung out with such heavyweights like @High-Test, @Ettick, @Mike Rotch, @AMG, @catamount39, @Carlos, and @Swagger897 - just the best people ever to back and forth with about the shiny or noisey objects that catch our manly eyes. No lack of nice people in the Book Thread either - @35mm, and @F1GTR not only blow us away with photographic knowledge, but are as well read as the other literati in there - @prisonermonkeys, @daan, @BobK, @Northstar, @zzz_pt, @W3HS, @Brett, - just to name a few - these guys carry big sticks in their heads and I read them very carefully when they start 'talking serious'.

Talking about 'talking serious' and I have to mention where all the eggheads hang out - the Opinions Forum where the likes of - @Famine, @Danoff, @Exorcet, @Keef and @Sanji Himura - to name very few - I go read these guys when I need to have an informed opinion on some current controversy.

I missed a lot of the sporting events in 2015 so didn't get to hang out much with my usual sports crowd - @MUSC4EVER, @Robin, @Ross, @ExigeEvan - guys with whom enjoyed many live Tennis events - I'm hoping to try harder to make time for these events this year.
A massive Thank You to all you guys - hoping you have a blast this year - both in our virtual camp here - and in real life. Thanks for keeping those lights on. 👍

A special note to @ipswich1992 - missed all the amazing fun we used to have in TDU2 and GT, Nate, and all the great non-members you introduced me to racing online - have a good one, mate, and here's to meeting up with you more often this year.
