Fantasy Dilemma this week (in another league of course):

Pick 1
--------
Curtis vs. Vikes
Welker vs. Skins
Calvin vs. Bears

Each is tempting for their own reason. Welker is tempting because Brady is on fire. Curtis is tempting because the Vikes are weak against the pass. Calvin is tempting because he was decent against Tampa last week (good pass def) and the Bears have been weaker recently.

My first choice would be Welker, secondly would be Welker and the third choice would be Welker.

I make the mistake of not starting him last week and I will not do that again. Brady looks as if Welker has become a favorite target for him.

I'm pretty sure the pats haven't faced a defense nearly as difficult as Washington yet. Hmmm, maybe the cowboys.

The list of teams the skins have played.

Miami
Philly
Giants
Detroit
Green Bay
Arizona

Other then the Giants they haven't played a good offense yet. I think the Pats are going to have another field day.

I made the mistake of starting Curtis instead of Reggie Wayne as my third receiver in one league...bad idea, he's had some big games, but he's also been very inconsistant. He'll either go huge or end up with 30-40 yards, most likely the latter. I'd go with Welker until he gives you a reason not to, everything Tom Brady touches is gold this season.

For reference, here's Welker's yardage:

61, 91, 69, 24, 19, 124, 138

Here's Curtis

53, 28, 221, 21, bye, 121, 62

Curtis has as many bad games as welker, and as many good. Welker has an 11 point edge in fantasy points, but has played one more game than Curtis. I'd say it's pretty even in terms of statistics. Which tends to make me let the defense decide, and if I'm letting defense decide, I'd say Minnesota is more likely to give up the big numbers.

Even still I'm leaning welker. Logic tells me that Curtis is the better play, but Brady is so hot right now.

Detroit and Green Bay don't count?

This link has them 23 and 19 respectively in offense. So not exactly juggernauts.

Edit: Reason #2 is that I just don't trust Ncnabb to hit the broad side of a barn. So far this season when its come down to picking a WR I would pick the man that has the better QB getting the ball to him.

I didn't realize Welker had that many off games, New England just has so many good options that I guess he could disappear at times. I'd still probably go with Welker though.

I'm having a tough time with my RB situation right now. I have five guys who are all very good backs, but I always seem to sit the guys who have the big games.

For next week, I've got.

Addai vs. Carolina
Westbrook vs. Minnesota
Jones-Drew vs. Tampa
Portis vs. New England
Lamont Jordan vs. Tennessee

Right now I'm leaning towards Westbrook and Jones-Drew, but it's tough to sit guys as good as Portis, Jordan, and Addai.

Addai looks like he'll be splitting carries with Keith. Still, Carolina will probably be generous. Westbrook is going to have to get it done via the air, because Minnesota will not allow him to rush. Jones-Drew is going to have to get a bunch of carries because they'll be starting a backup QB who can't hit anything against one of the league's best pass defenses. New England will stymie Portis, and Jordan is splitting carries now against a pretty good Tennessee defense.

As weird as it feels to say this, I'd probably start Jones-Drew and Addai.

Sports illustrated would recommend that you start Addai and Westbrook. Foxsports agrees.

I'm sticking by my recommendation.

Addai vs. Carolina
Oct 24 Indianapolis Colts RB Joseph Addai (shoulder, back, chest) is expected to play Week 8.
Westbrook vs. Minnesota
Oct 22 Westbrook had 18 carries for 79 yards and caught six balls for 40 yards in the Eagles' loss Sunday.
Recommendation: He was held out of the end zone for the second straight week but continues to amass nice yardage production. He faces the league's toughest run defense in Minnesota next week.
Jones-Drew vs. Tampa
Oct 24 Jones-Drew (knee) did not practice on Wednesday, the Jaguars' official site reports.
Recommendation: Jones-Drew, who sustained what is thought to be a minor knee sprain on Monday, is called "questionable" for Week 8 by coach Jack Del Rio. "We hope to get him back by the end of the week and that he’ll play on Sunday," Del Rio added. If Jones-Drew is unable to go this weekend, the team would likely lean heavily on Fred Taylor, especially with QB Quinn Gray making his first NFL start.
Portis vs. New England
Oct 23 While Portis' carries have remained about the same, his yards have gone down consistently in the last three games and he is blaming the coaches, the Norfolk Virginian-Pilot reports.
Recommendation: After struggling to run the ball against the Cardinals (2.6 yards per carry) the Redskins' yards per carry fell to 3.5 on the season, good for 25th in the NFL. "We didn't get it done," Redskins coach Joe Gibbs said. Portis' yards per carry has gone down from 5.8 in Week 1 (17 carries, 98 yards) to 2.4 in Week 7 (18 carries, 43 yards) and his solution to the problem is to mimic the defenses' practice style. "If you watch our defense at practice, they're quick, smooth, fly around," Portis said. "For us, the offense, we drop balls in practice, we turn it over in practice. What we do in practice we do in the game." Another solution would be for the Redskins' offensive line to get healthy, as they have been missing multiple lineman throughout the season. Next week probably won't be any better for Portis as the 'Skins travel to Foxborough to take on the (seemingly) unbeatable Patriots.
Lamont Jordan vs. Tennessee
My two cents is that Tennessee is good against the run and ranks 6th in total defense. Jordon isn't that good and Westbrook just might be.

Those are Recommandations from yahoo. I'd qo with Westbrook and Addai even with Westbrook facing Minnesota's defense.

Thanks for the feedback.

Despite Jones-Drew's injury, I think I'm going to stick with him, especially since the Jags are starting Quinn Gray at QB, Jones-Drew and/or Fred Taylor are going to see the ball a lot.

I'm still split on the Addai/Westbrook issue, but I think I'm going to make that one of my Sunday morning decisions depending on who is healthier. Right now, I'm leaning towards Westbrook though, as he can get it done just as well in the air as he can on the ground.

I ended up starting Westbrook and Addai, Jones-Drew is questionable so I think that Fred Taylor will get the bulk of the Jags carries today.

In other news, somehow Derek Anderson was still on the waivers in my league (that's what happens when you play with a bunch of Cleveland hating steeler fans) so I snatched him up for a new QB tandem of Favre and Anderson. I'm starting Anderson today hoping he has a big game against the Rams.

Wow, it looks like the Radsters will jump to third place tomorrow as third, fourth, and fifth appear to be well on their way to a defeat.

Welcome to the Playoff chase, UnoMOTO!

So should my defense be my highest score this week?

WOO HOO! I feel kind of lucky to pull this one off! Look at the points on my bench this week

Anderson 21
Mcnabb 18
Addai 28

This week my QB and TE combined for a grand total of 10 pts 👎. I'm glad to be rolling heading into the playoffs. We all know how important it is to be hot at the end of the season. Just ask the Colorado Rockies....er.. wait...nevermind.

So should my defense be my highest score this week?

27 freaking points! No...that's not natural as they say. Feel free to not repeat that next week when you and I go up for a rematch.

It is not looking good at all for me, being down 14 with Donald Driver going against Brandon Marshall, especially since I need Marshall to do well for me in my three other leagues. I will gladly take a loss in this one if it means I win the other three. :dopey:

It does not help that I did not realize that I have Ben Watson in this league also. I knew I had him in one league, but forgot about this one. Steven Jackson cannot stay healthy. (Can you ever really trust a Ram???) Steve Smith basically stinks at the moment and I started the wrong QB.

I am tired of not being able to catch a break in any of my leagues. In one league I started out 4-0, now 4-3, and very much looking at 4-4. In another, I started out 3-0, dominating each of the three games, and am now 3-4, but am looking at winning this week to be 4-4.

I was handed a devastating close loss to the league leader in my money league this weekend. That may have been my season right there. Stupid Tomlinson!! Stupid Griese!!

Anyway, glad to see things still going well for me here. :)

Currently my other league I am 1-6 and it is looking to be a very close matchup thsi week as I have Cutler and Denver's defense tonight and he has Favre and Marshall. I'm currently ahead by less than two points and so I need Denver to have a good game without Marshall getting any touches.

That works for me...GO Broncos!

Is SJ made of glass? My wife wasted her #1 pick on that guy. :ouch:

I couldn't catch a break in this league in here to start. The ball looks to be bouncing my way now!

I thought Griese was going to make me eat my words from a few weeks ago. But noooo, still the same old Griese. He has flashes of greatness but still chokes under pressure.

It's possible...after last weeks drunk driving arrest, maybe Shanny will throw to stokley to teach him a lesson about making stupid choices.

Looks like I'll be taking that "highest scoring team" title off your hands this week. ;)

All I need is Marshall to score something like 50 pts tonight to keep it. It could happen....in Bizzaro-world!

No, he is tough. Unfortunately the Rams O-line couldn't block a turtle so anyone who relies on blocks is getting hit extremely hard. Bulger got broken ribs in week 1 and they only sat him after it became painfully obvious he wasn't going to be protected enough to allow them to heal.

We don't get any Ram games on this side of the Mississippi so it's hard to tell how bad the Rams really are.

Too bad it took so long for Bulger to sit out. Maybe if you had started Romo from week one you might be leading this league.

I only get to watch them play when I go to the bar with eth Sunday Ticket package, and then they get the small TV in the far corner by the pool table while the Pats and Colts are on the two huge LCDs over teh center of the bar.

Maybe if they had told me before week 3 he had broken ribs....Check when I pulled him, immediately after I heard that announcement. Even healed I knew he wouldn't be throwing the ball comfortably all season.

And here are the scores this week:

JFM = 49er hater 66
Delicious Species 92

The Chefs 133
Centurion Eagles 116

SuperBad 63
wicky wicky radsters 82

I have a headache this morning after the weather finally turned cold so no detailed write-up. Just the scores.

And the rankings:

rank - team - record - ttl points
1. The Chefs - 6-2-0 - 823
2. Delicious Species - 5-3-0 - 723
3. wicky wicky radsters - 3-4-1 - 784
4. SuperBad - 3-4-1 - 675
5. Centurion Eagles - 3-5-0 - 751
6. JFM = 49er hater - 3-5-0 - 635

With the Radsters on a three-game streak they jump into third place. Congrats, but with six games left in the season anyone can still take this league.

Delicious Species 92

Knock, Knock, Knock...JFM...are you out there?!?! Once again JFM seems to have forgotten that he has a GTPFFL team. LJ and Rackers on the bye this week and score no points for you. It's hard to be competitive when starting two in the hole. The New England Defense scored big for JFM with 21 pts, but on a day that The Species San Diego Defense puts up 27, what cha gonna do? Other notables for the Species, Burress with a SINGLE point, Coltson finally mans up with 24 and LT shows that even superman has off days with only 9 pts. JFM left 67 points on the bench, maybe with few moves this would have been a much better match up.

The Chefs 133
Centurion Eagles 116

Here was your rooten tooten shooten match of the week. Nice score Eagles but the Chefs were burning the kitchen up this week. No particular explosion of points from a single person but a very well balanced attack got the job done.(maybe that trade for holt will pay off big coming down the stretch) Only 18 points left on the bench for the Chefs in a well chosen line up.
The Eagles couldn't have played it much better. Plenty of points left on the bench but none higher then the starting line up positions. The Brady point machine in full working order again this week and pumped out a nice 35 points.

This match up would have been nice to see next week when the on field Brady vs. Manning battle takes place.

SuperBad 63
wicky wicky radsters 82

That’s right...3 wins in a row for the radsters. Even with 76 points on the bench the Radsters get the win. With moves like that, the radsters give the point lead back to the Chefs. SuperBad describes how some of his players performed for him! Smith (1), Driver (2), Watson (0), Minn (2), combined for an anemic 5 points. Maybe a bit of yelling at the TV would be in order on this day. SuperBads only apparent mistake was missing out on a 4 TD day from Brees and his 29 points.

I feel for the Centurion Eagles this week. It's a tough loss when you realize you'd have beaten anyone else in the league besides the person you were up against. I have to say I'm proud of my team this week. Despite losing Shaun Alexander (my first round pick) to crappy play, the team is rolling smoothly.

Congrats to the radsters for getting themselves back in the hunt.

UnoMOTO's Sig
I am in the middle of the biggest come back in GTPFFL history!
Not hard to be in the biggest comeback when it is the only comeback to date.

Hummm....I wonder what that feels like?

Not hard to be in the biggest comeback when it is the only comeback to date.

Then you get the joke! Don't let anyone ever tell you your not sharp as a tac.
