Here's some pictures of what I've been doing this weekend.

First up, BAR Honda 007 Showcar driven by Jenson Button. I converted this one to Lucky Strike, overall it's easy work, but the sidepod lucky strike is a total pain in the a**.

And secondly, the BAR Honda 007 race car as driven by Takuma Sato. This is iin 555 livery as seen as Shanghai GP in China. This one again is quite a bit of work, but it was much easier than I originally thought. However, if you don't have the experience, this one will be very very hard. I had to use quite a bit of microset/microsol decal softening solution in various places to get it the way you see it. This is probably the best conversion I've ever done. It's near 100% good I would say. Previous conversions of mine each have at least one very little mistake somewhere. This one has none.

At last, these two beauties are together.

Oh yeah now I remember that 555 livery. I thought it was quite a nice livery for the car.

As some of you might know, yesterday was 25 years since the great Gilles Villeneuve died. Since I've found out I passed all my university exams for this semester, I got quite a bit of money, but I'm having a hard time finding one for a reasonable price. People seem to go crazy over those Exoto Ferrari's nowdays. :nervous:

Hmm. Are you in the US/Canada?

Cause through their(Exoto's) mailing list they sometimes have money off coupons. I can't really use them cause I'm in the UK.

Yes I am from Canada. I'm pretty sure that all 312T4's that been retired by Exoto for quite some time.

The last time I actually found them on retail store online (not ebay) was around late 2005, that's when I started diecast collecting. Place called replicarz had all the Villeneuve models at around $190 to $240 each. If they'd still have it today, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but up until around now, I haven't been prepared to spend this kind of money on a model.

if you want it bad enough and it has meaning to you then why not, there will always be a way in the end to jusify the price.

MustangSVT, I know it's completely off topic, but have you seen the F1 photos page on daan's website? If you haven't, check it out.

Ooh impressive. Thanks for the link.

BTW I did try to get one off ebay (one of those Villeneuve Exoto), with my luck, it went for the insane amount of 199 euro.

WHich would be £134.... not bad when Diecast Legends are advertising some Giles Ferrari's at £199.99.

Well remembered. I remembered I'd to send you the link when I wasn't near my PC, but it slipped my mind when I was near it.

And Mustang, there is a Minichamps model of Villeneuve's one race for McLaren available that you may get cheaper.

Wasn't gilles 25 years yesterday?

What a daredevil.:D

've seen his crash in slo-mo it's terrible, anyways back to models!

I wonder if anyone will make a 1:18 Spyker?

Well I don't know about you guys, but about 220 euro including shipping is pretty excessive for me. It's about $330cad. When you look at the 330 number, it's much harder to swallow than the numbers in euro or gbp. Most I've ever spent on a diecast is 160cad.

Oh yeah now I remember that 555 livery. I thought it was quite a nice livery for the car.

I also remember the friday show car that had at Shanghai.... it looked even better with blue, gold and stars... they should have gone with it for the race...

Here's some pics of my latest arrivals. Three more models off my wishlist. :)

The BMW Sauber of Villeneuve, been waiting for this one ages now, Minichamps been delaying the 2006 models so much this time around. At last it's finally here. Now I can't wait for that Raikkonen model, come on Minichamps, release it already!

Next one is an Aston Martin DBR9. This is the prodrive #007 from le Mans 2006. I've wanted one since I watched LM 2006 last year and it also fills a gap in my display cabinet. Now I have one row with two Vettes and two Astons. 👍

Last one is a Peugeot 307 WRC night race driven by Marcus Gronholm in 2005. Again fills a gap in my collection and completes my WRC collection. I also really like this car and the night race thing just did it for me.

well here it is,the 1/12 gallardo.this is a sentamental model in a way,now i have to admit im not a fan of supercars as they are abit too obvious in a manner of speaking, but imo the gallardo is something its trying not to be,its abit more quieter than a 430/911gt3/turbo/gt etc and more comfortable.now i bought the silver 1/18 gallardo last year for the sake of it,few extra quid left like the idea of the extras so thought why not.nice little model it was.then a last month a guy called liam turns up at one of our local tuners with his very own silver gallardo,so got chatting and told him that i had a 1/18 model of a silver gallardo and would love a go in the real thing(been around knockhill in a few seriously modified cars so would love to experience it in a car built for speed rather than one modified for it) and he said sure to come looking for him in a while and he would take me out on the track in it,so it got to the end of the session 15mins left and i find liam and ask if its still ok for a go round the track and he says sure jump in but as im getting ready someone goes off the track and they end the trackday.just as a passing joke i ask if there was any chance of a lift to dunfermline as i couldnt get a lift back to glasgow and had to get the bus and to my surprise he said sure why now  .the sheer power of the thing is unbelieve, ive been in 500-600bhp cossies and skyline and they didnt feel half as brutal as this!so it was a simple case the next morning of i NEED a 1/12 gallardo NOW!!! after some searching i found one for 390usd shipped which i thought great! but the guy didnt have any in stock and said it would be around a month so started looking in the uk and everyone wanted between 270gbp and 300gbp for them in the uk then i called a local store who runs swapmeets and asked if any traders there might have any and he said no as he was the only one in scotland to get them so i asked how much.........£199.95  before he could finish i was like i want one now!! order now!! then finally the call came on thursday and well here she is :)

the model is just beautiful, even the store owner was saying how beautiful it is,everythings there exactly as it is on the 1/1 even down to the hinges

the only kinda drawback i have is that i just feel theres something missing,i cant explain it but its like when you buy a cmc or an exoto or a cc or indeed some aa's you have a feeling of yes this is the best there wont be one better than this, well with this i just dont get that feeling that this is the best, but i dont care just look at it :D

and a scale comparo shot

Nice model Holden. That ride in the Gallardo must've been thrilling. I've never gotten a ride in a sports car myself, maybe some day..

How much was the GMP cleaning kit. I should get that myself, it looks pretty nice.

BTW, I received my CMC Mercedes SLR today, I got the silver one, only paid $100 for it since it came with no box, arrived in perfect condition. 👍

What's the best way to open the hood? I know one of you fellas has this model too.

i got it for 12.99gbp,u need to use both hands.how i do it is rest my thumbs gently on the bumpers and with my index fingers push both ends of the bonnet forward and after it slides forward just push it gently from the centre of the bonnet

edit: in fact this might help ;)

Thanks for the pic, it really helped. The hinge system is quite intricate. The overall little details and everything on this model are really good. How'd you get it for only 13 pounds?

On another note, not sure if you guys noticed, but most models have gone up in price recently. Kyosho, Autoart and CMC and also Hot Wheels Elite.

AA's seem to have gone up in price by $3 to $10, and Kyosho have gone up in price from $55ish to $70+ish, and CMC have gone up from $190 to $240 for some of the existing models and HW Elite, the new 612 and 599 and 430 race livery are now $10-$15 more expensive.
