Uh, the Corvette model you posted appears to be a black Guldstrand Covette.
Its got the exact body of the 50th Anniversary model.

http://www.spectergtr.com/corvette/gtr.html

Available as a coupe, hardtop or convertible, the Specter Werkes' Corvette GTR is a complete package that combines both aggressive looks and asphalt hugging performance.

Well it says it's a Specter Corvette GTR on their site.

Man, that 911 GT3 RSR is nice.

What about the latest GT3 RSR Dealer Edition by Minichamps? Just got one from eBay.
Must say that I love both the car and the livery. But I'll let the pictures speak for themself.

Next buy? Exoto Porsche 934 RSR :D
Thats a sweet looking car 👍 since I can only see it from the outside, how detailed is the interior?

Black with silver strips for me! :D
Same thing for me. It's pretty cool eh. I'm easily impressed, but the this Specter Corvette C5 is IMO my best quality Maisto car that I have so far.

Anyway, in some other news again, I went to Superstore with my folks for grocery shopping, and looked around at the cars they had there. Here's what I got.

Maisto 1/24
Dodge Viper RT/10, blue w/ white stripes 👍
Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R, blue :dopey:

Maisto 1/24 Assembly Line Kit
Ferrari F430, red :sly:

The 1/18 cars by Maisto they had there were pretty crappy, like Merc SLK, Porsche Cayenne, like who wants that  . There was also like two Hot Wheels 1/18, there was a silver Corvette C6 Cabriolet and there was this $30 package that had a Corvette C5 yellow (coupe) with a very nice 1/64 Corvette (same exact car), but I didn't feel like buying another Corvette C5, at least not right now, maybe later :sly: :sly: .

Anyway, I was pretty impressed with the model kits 1/24 by Maisto. They look actually a tad better quality than the regular 1/24 cars by Maisto. They had some pretty damn nice cars too, like this F430 in red/yellow, a 550 Maranello, some F50s in red/yellow and also some Enzo's in red/yellow. There were some other ones too, like uhm F355 Spider, and some Corvettes, but I already got some of that. Next time, I might get that 550 Maranello, it looked good enough for me in 1/24. Oh and there was also a Dodge Viper GT2 (1/24 kit), that one looked nice too!

Here's some pics from official site.

Cars I got

All in 1/24.

Next time (whenever that is), if I end up buying the 550 Maranello and/or the Dodge Viper GT2, I'll be sure to post some pics of that. There was also a CLK-GTR in 1/24 (already assembled), but it looked pretty crappy IMO so I went with the Viper RT/10 instead of it.

Hmmm, I'm going to need myself a GT3RSR... Thought AA was going to do it, though.

Does anyone here buy from scale18.com? Are they reliable? I read they're from Vancouver, so being in Canada myself, I don't like the idea of buying from an american site, I don't want to find a surprise duty tax or anything like that. :ill:

Also, has anyone ever bought from Maisto's online site? This is it: http://www.shopatron.com/index/288.0

Anyway, it seems pretty nice, Maisto cars are reasonably priced enough for me, but it would cost me around $35cad/car to get it online from them (including shipping) if I buy like 2-3 cars, but only for ones that I really wouldn't be able to find in store, like the Dauer EB110 in black (carbon fiber), the Merc SLR, and the Lambo Diablo SV (  ). They've also got some really nice GT cars that I haven't really seen in stores. I saw their BMW V12 LMR (1/18) in a small store in Desenzano, Italy (by that big lake in mid-north Italy), but it was 30euro at the time and I only had room for 1 1/18 car, and I opted to get a Ferrari Enzo by Hot Wheels.

So yeah, they got some cool more "affordable" GT cars, but the "affordable" is kinda stretching it. With international shipping (non-US, yea right like Canada is that far :indiff: ), it'd be like oh $65cad/car for 2 cars, so yeah.. and that's just for like a Porsche 911 GT1 and Audi R8. Anyway, that's a lot of money, and it'll prolly take me another year, maybe if I work next summer, to be able to afford this kind of stuff.

For now, I'll stick with the local stores, and I'll get my dad to buy me an AUTOart car for xmas/b-day (somethin that's worth the $80cad), and I might get around to trying to get a McLaren F1 1/18 by maisto online and/or a Mercedes SLR also 1/18 by maisto, depends on how affordable I can find them.

You need to upgrade from maisto, friend. Although, we all have maisto models, just not where the pride is. Sometimes on eBay you can get a good deal on other brands.:)👍

There are rumours that AA has cancelled the 2004 GT3-RSR and is planning to make the 2005 GT3-RSR. I don't know if this has any merits as it has not confirmed by an AA rep. Chances are that they will make the GT3-RSR sooner or later since the current GT3-RS is a cash cow for them. But it remains to be seen whether MC or AA will do a better job of recreating the GT3-RSR.

Either way, I'll be putting an order in for one by the end of the week. 👍

I buy from scale18 all the time. They are very reliable and they are highly recommended. If you're from Canada (but not from BC) then you'll only be paying for GST (and not the PST) with no custom tax. Shipping is relatively cheap and if you buy $300+ USD, shipping is free.

$80 CAD for AA? Maybe for older AA releases. The average going price for newer releases is $120. :yuck:

I couldn't agree more. IMO, quality is better than quantity. Space restriction also something to think about when you have a large collection to display at once. Having said that, I'm guessing most of the collectors on this forum are still in school and has little disposable income to spend on diecast so they have to resort to buying low end 1/18s.

I guess to each his own. I know some collectors never move up market and they are content with what is in there collection. And there are people like me who started with Autoart, I just couldn't go to back to bBuragos and Hotwheels; they just don't appeal to me with their lack of quality regardless of price. :)

So if you ask me, I would say to buy one Autoart than three or four Maistos. 👍

Yea, diecast car collecting is really an area where you want to choose quality over quantity. I'd rather pick a specific brand of cars, Porsche for instance, and buy those that are really well built. I could of course buy many other brands and have equally many Porsches if I could do with slightly less well-built models. However, in the end, I know that I'd be more happy over my crazy Porsche collection... I am after all a mad perfectionist :)

I'm doing fine buying from Maisto. While not the best, they are very good models.
I don't have time to always be buying $50 models when I could get a $10.00 Maisto.

Hell, you really can't see any difference from my AutoArt Murcielagos compared to my Maistos besides a bit clearer logos and such. The interior is rarely looked at, so I have no problem with my $10 1/18 deals.

You got that right, I'm only 17 with no job. My parents are paying for all of my university and I'm gonna get a *decent* 2nd hand car very soon. You can't expect me to ask much more of them. I consider myself very lucky as it is that they are paying for my university and car and that on top of that, my dad shares some of my car passion and is willing to buy me some more scale cars every so often.

Well it depends on how the person starts out. When I was younger (until 13yo), I lived in a much poorer country where being able to afford a 1/18 Bburago for your child was considered pretty much a luxury. it wasn't *that* expensive, but 99% of people would look away when they'd see the price, and even 1/24 Bburago cars were considered pretty expensive. My dad was one of very few people I knew that bought his kid a car or two in time, the only other person was my dad's boss who made a ****load of money, and I still had more cars than his kid. Anyway, I've learned to cherish and appreciate all of my cars, and esp. my older Bburago 1/18 cars which I got in my home country, they all have some kind of history behind them. :)

Porsche nut, definitely. Just started out with this hobby though. Waiting for 3-4 cars to arrive at the moment! I'll post pics as soon as they arrive so stay tuned

Yes, of course! It all depends on how much resources you have and also how many other hobbies you've got and what you spend your money on. I'm different than my friends in that I don't spend 90% of my money on booze, I spend it on my interests instead. So.. no offence, man and I'm glad you're enjoying all your cars, that's the way it's supposed to be! Being a perfectionist just makes everything harder to fully enjoy, believe me :)

I wouldnt ever call maisto "very good." They're far from it, my other models have felt interiors and much better molding, especially the underside/chassis and engine.

I understand for Race cars that AA would (probably) be better, but i have an AA Toyota MRS/2 & apart from having the moving discs they are no better than my Maisto Murcielago or VX220.
Ok some of the Maisto's suck eg Mclaren F1 or merc CLK GTR AMG, but others don't.
I collect either Japanese/modified or Supercars (not 911's!). And my Jada toys are excellent Q (except for the oddly shiney engines). As are my Ferrari's, (My fav) 575M maranello is excellent Q, and has moving discs.

Well, that's your opinion.

Maybe you have the time to buy a $40 model off Ebay, but I don't.
My Maisto's are just fine thank you. They do what they're built for.
I don't care if your's has a nice interior. Its not like I'm touching the interior of my AutoArts all the time anyways.

Sure, I treat my AutoArts better than my Maistos, but that's due to price. Besides, my Maistos also do fine when I use them in a my 1/18 garage sets.

Exoto has quite a few Sauber C9s.
Here's my 1989 Le Mans winning C9 with rolling chasis. :embarrassed:

so they are by Exoto. That looks great 👍
Speaking of Exoto, aren't they involved with producing some models of the DBR9?

Enough said.
Last I heard models are for look anyways. Might we well start buying toys.
I guess they[maisto] are for playing with. I once shot up a maisto F50 with my pellet gun. 👍
Certainly didnt make it worth any less.
