By the by, what company makes those models?
It's AUTOart.
Dat Cyclone Spoiler. @a6m5 pics.

Autographed, Cano.

It's AUTOart.

Thanks for clarifying that one man, much appreciated. 👍
Knowing that, however, means that it'll probably take a very looooong while until I get my hands on one of those (if I ever get there)...

Wait, Mario Andretti actually autographed that? Damm, a6, you don't screw around, that's one way to ensure a huge profit if you get around to sell that. And that's a major "if"... The car already looks great by itself, but the whole "autograph/special box/certificate" thing really make it stand out as a collector's piece.

The AUP is the only thing stopping me.
Did you grow up or something? Did AUP ever even slow you down before?

j/k :P

It's worth the price to me($155-ish, shipped from AmiAmi), but yeah, it's quite up there by my standard, too(Venom chuckles lol). I really like this one, but the one I really have to have is the carbon fiber version due out next month!

That one is not mine & is for sale at our store. I can get a discount on it, but as you know, all my money goes to Tomicas(find that 'take my money' gif for me, @Spacegoat lol). :sly:

Edit: Also, that Cyclone is 1/24 scale. I think this is below my employee price.

Yeah... 155 bucks is already way up there by my own standard. That's not the sort of money I can justify spending, not quite yet. But I'll put near the top of my "to (hopefully be able to) buy" list, maybe dreams can come true, you know?

Also, dat carbon fibre Spec II... Boy, if I ever have to pick between the two, it'll be a tough decision.

Oh, you have a model store? Never knew that, it's a cool thing. I wasn't quite aware of that. I do suppose most of your "scale model" budget has to go to Tomicas, to foster your ever-growing (and beautiful) collection of TLVs. Gotta set the right priorities, right? :sly:

And I'll find the money gif before spacegoat can, haha;

(Yeah, I know this is probably not the best version, shut up. :P)

Also, that Cyclone is surprisingly cheap for an autographed car. I was expecting something with a three-digit number, so that price is oddly pleasing.

Yes & yes.

I wish. :D I work at a car dealer. We carry few diecasts along with toys.

That's good enough, and yes, I mostly throw my money at Hot Wheels, Greenlight & TLVs. :D

Agreed. People who don't follow racing(myself included) would recognize him & that's saying a lot.

Oooh, I see. So you offer real cars as well as scale model ones. Neat stuff for sure, I guess that explains it better. Still, I had no idea you work at such a place.

First of all, thanks, and secondly, I'm not entirely surprised to hear you say that about your model spendings. If anything, you can't argue it isn't money well-spent considering the quality of the stuff you buy... After all, I witnessed several times your fine taste in scale model cars. ;)

Heck, I'm not an American racing specialist myself and even I know the influence of the Andretti family in the American racing scene. Being a former F1 champion would usually drive their related products' prices up the proverbial wall. I mean, I bet his championship-winning Lotus doesn't go for cheap...

You are too kind to say that. Thank you! :)

I'm just stating the truth, that's all. I don't like lying about stuff I know well. ;)

Picked this up at a car show today for $25, not a bad price I think

Fits well with the Toyota collection :D

Very nice Celica, and it does fit pretty well with the rest of the Toyotas. I'm particularly fond of the white & blue Minolta LMP, it looks very well detailed. And you even have Toyota badges to go with all that... A very cool set indeed. 👍

Thanks! I'll get a few more photos of the Minolta later on, that's one of my favorites also.

I can get a few photos of the Toyota collection while I'm at it.

May I also ask, what cars are on the bottom shelf? I see a MR-2 and a classic car, but I can't tell which one the other(s?) is. And I can also spot a Buick Reatta badge for some reason...

My two latest models:

AutoArt Alfa Romeo 4C (sorry for the bad photo):

The version of the 4C that they made still has those ugly bug headlights. I wished they did the version with the original/Spider/US-spec headlights. Nonetheless, still a gorgeous car.

Another interesting thing that I'm not sure how I feel about yet is that this is not all die-cast like previous AutoArt models, but is partially die-cast, and partially composite shell. It's lighter than a fully die-cast car, but the quality of it looks pretty good, and the shut line of the engine compartment and the doors are pretty tight.

That's assorted stuff, the classic one is a Lotus Elite. Random badges and models go there. I'll get some shots then. There's two other shelves of stuff.

Finally found a larger scale model of the IS300! Except it's a Jada import racer, so it's got the usual ricey stuff. Also, found this 1/43 scale GS300! (Not sure who makes the GS300, but I think it might be J-Collection?)

I can't believe I'm actually procrastinating with hobbies now.

This is all I have since the last time. I went two rounds on the putty. I'm aiming for a flat look, but I'm going to add another flat plane underneath all that to make the splitter more noticeable.

My excuse to not do too much work is that I want to keep the bodywork very light on aftermarket styling. Granted how little the duckbill spans, I don't feel widening the fenders will do it any good. Therefore, I'm trying what I can to reduce the ground clearance without giving it too much flashiness around the lower half of the car- skirts and front bumper that is.

Hello again, here's some more progress I'd like to report:

Front_bumper_cut_07.JPG

Making the front bumper's bottom edge all smooth was becoming too difficult for me. Somehow I ended up shaving off more putty on the sides than the facade, so I now have this slope to cope with. Getting those grills to be symmetrical is also challenging for me.

Having to go back and forth on applying and removing putty, I decided to try the polyestor putty instead, hoping that would be easier to work with. Seems it's just as troublesome because it loves to stick to itself and doesn't spread like butter. @Nessy, does Milliput clump like the yellow stuff you see in the following photo?

Front_bumper_cut_08.JPG

So I stuck that piece of acrylic underneath. Now I have a flat surface to work off. I'll start by marking off the center point, and maybe other points to help keep symmetry when I get to making the rest of the splitter.

Side_skirts_02.jpg

Other than straightening out the bottom edge, I think I can settle on this middle-ground height. It creates a much lower stance than stock, but it's not millimeters from the floor.

Can't say iv'e ever experienced that, though i imagine if left long enough it will start to go off/cure, and you may get clumping but not as bad as that yellow stuff. Still, it can all be sanded away.

It's all looking great so far AOS. 👍 Especially like the route you've taken with the side sills (did a similar thing with a 1/24 Tamiya Honda S2000 kit).

Can't wait to see the RX7 finished. 👍

Thanks! I wanted to get this done a lot sooner so I could start another car, but it seems that may not happen.

The putty isn't clumping because I've left it too long. This pic was taken right after I finished applying it. Straight out of the tube, the compound appears to be pretty moisturized still, but the moment I mix in the hardener, I can see that it looks significantly drier than before, but it doesn't stick like epoxy or sticky-tack. It seemed the more I handled it, the faster the surfaces start to lose its runny texture.

I was just wondering if Milliput could stay active long enough that I could comfortably sculpt and scrape smooth surfaces.

The operating window is fairly good with the Milliput but you really need to be careful that you don't disturb the bonded surface area. Trying to apply force (through molding/sculpting) will naturally weaken that initial bond between putty and subject.

The good news is, is how well Milliput works with water. I find keeping a bowl of water nearby and just wetting and smoothing/sculpting the model with wet fingers, gives really good results. You can even submerge the model in shallow water and do the same thing, it's almost as if the putty melts away from smoothing with the fingers.

To be honest, i can't really explain it that well, but trust me, give it a try yourself and you'll see exactly what i mean. I doubt you'll be disappointed with the results. 👍

Now, my budget is around 300€ and I want to get a brand new shiny model...got some options...considering I do like prototypes too I can't really let the LC2 and the 962 C be outside my collection... @Venom800tt , how's the Lancia? If I remember you should have that model.
The 312 T2 from Hot Wheels Elite is a good choice, too bad I already have the model in 1:43 and personally I would prefer the T3 but I'm sure the 1:18 version was never produced...got already 2 Ferrari F1 from Exoto (Gilles T4 and Prost 641/2) and this should be enough for a while...
The 312 P Berlinetta is absolutely stunning but I really don't want to spend such a big amount of money AGAIN on a single model...
The P4 and the 312 from GMP are great but I can grab a decent P4 for MUCH MUCH less and the 312 is not my favourite Ferrari prototype...I already have a solid 512M...
Now, there are tons of pros and cons, but I would prefer the LC2 and the 962C (maybe I'll buy some LMPs from Maisto from the same eBay seller, the Audi R8 and the BMW LMR V12 are quite promising...)...I'm just disappointed you can't open hoods or remove the chassis to see the engine...Sparks models seems to be quite detailed anyway...any tips?
