This is what Michael's Baseball display case looks like with a car inside:

Before1.JPG

The floor is not flush with the bottom edge of the lid that's made of black MDF.

Before2.JPG

It. Is. Nasty. I can't stand the fact the bottom quarter is not visible if viewed straight on... so I made a raised floor that is also
sloped.

I have stuck washers onto this masonite board to suspend the wheels off the base. If there's one thing I really dislike about manufacturers, it's when they overtighten the screws creating flatspots on the tires.

Here is the finish:

And what it looks like now inside the box:

Can see everythingggggggg!

Edit: snap. I learned of AutoART's 2005 release of the plain body DBR9. Now I don't know if I should prioritize this over the Vantage GTE.

Here are my impressions based off the photos I've looked at:

Pros:
  • The absence of a livery means we can clearly see all the aggressive forms on the front half of the car. The vents on the bonnet and side fenders give off the impression of a fearsome shark.
  • While not as exciting as the Vantage's colourful body, a plain body is clean and I can appreciate how glorious metallic paint looks.
  • Cheaper than the Vantage!
Cons:
  • For some dumb reason, I really dislike how the rear looks. To me it's lacking a little something. I was comparing photos of it to a stock DBR9 coupe and even the latter has the sparkle to look attractive. The Gulf livery looks just fine because it has an orange stripe going down the center to give it a little more substance, but plain grey TBH looks a bit bland back here.
  • AutoART proudly announced (directly on its box) that it is 100% sealed. I didn't mind the fact that my Ignitions are sealed, but somehow clearly stating it is so seems like a let down.

Then there's the V8 Vantage GTE I also happen to like (photos again):

Pros:
  • ooooh colourful!
  • has a livery to keep it interesting to look at from every angle.
  • I don't know what's up with the side skirt but that looks kind of cool!
Cons:
  • Don't got the aggressive grills.
  • Cost a lot more!
  • Body wraps mean no glossy paint to look at.
  • Also sealed. (I'm guessing)

Which one do you guys like more?

I have the DBR9 in the classical racing green. The car looks good, but it fades in relation to the racing version...
But still is a good looking/agressive car...

But the resin SparK... Well gets my vote! ;)

I think an annual collaborated presentation where everyone shows off what has changed in their collection from the previous year is in order. :sly:

News on my end. Found another Canadian-based store that sells scale models. Terrific stuff. I will be seeing if another store in the country will price match the pre-order price the former listed the AA BAC Mono for (163CAD). The latter still only does 189CAD so that is quite the deal! Only reason I'd want to price match is so I can also grab a Shelby collectables at the same time, saving me on shipping. Hopefully they will comply.

I think me and @Venom800tt qill break the Internet if we did.

Group shot, son.

2000px MAX. I'll definitely participate too.

edit: Ignition Trueno in the works still:

I don't typically buy sealed 1:18 models(Anson 993 GT2 road) is the only sealed 1:18 i own, but i'm digging that AE86..

I kinda wish Autoart would update their R34 Z tune model, the Street versions look good, but the Z tune is just off.. about as off as Aa's old R32 casting.
