Edit: snap. I learned of AutoART's 2005 release of the plain body DBR9. Now I don't know if I should prioritize this over the Vantage GTE.
Here are my impressions based off the photos I've looked at:
Pros:
- The absence of a livery means we can clearly see all the aggressive forms on the front half of the car. The vents on the bonnet and side fenders give off the impression of a fearsome shark.
- While not as exciting as the Vantage's colourful body, a plain body is clean and I can appreciate how glorious metallic paint looks.
- Cheaper than the Vantage!
Cons:
- For some dumb reason, I really dislike how the rear looks. To me it's lacking a little something. I was comparing photos of it to a stock DBR9 coupe and even the latter has the sparkle to look attractive. The Gulf livery looks just fine because it has an orange stripe going down the center to give it a little more substance, but plain grey TBH looks a bit bland back here.
- AutoART proudly announced (directly on its box) that it is 100% sealed. I didn't mind the fact that my Ignitions are sealed, but somehow clearly stating it is so seems like a let down.
Then there's the V8 Vantage GTE I also happen to like (photos again):
Pros:
- ooooh colourful!
- has a livery to keep it interesting to look at from every angle.
- I don't know what's up with the side skirt but that looks kind of cool!
Cons:
- Don't got the aggressive grills.
- Cost a lot more!
- Body wraps mean no glossy paint to look at.
- Also sealed. (I'm guessing)
