Opening resin, correct? Well there is a reason why other than Frontiart almost no one makes resin model that isn't one piece of body shell, I know TSM has already give up developing new opening resin models.
yep, but the broken parts were the rear wing and a couple of suspensions, the package was designed by a donkey, seriously, such a stupid way to pack your models

Has anybody here got this feeling when you thought you purchased a model car at a reasonable price (152 USD, to be precise), and then a few days later you found out that you could have bought the exact same car online and saved almost 30 USD?

I can't use my credit card, but still, my wallet hurts even greater. :(

(I was going to wait for somebody else to post first, so I could avoid double-posting, but now it seems that it's impossible, so I'm going to double-post. Sorry!)

Again, I bought this over 2 months ago, but it's only recently that I have finished taking pics of it. This, unlike my previous models, was bought at Hung Hing Toys. (Hat tip to @RCKakashi14 for posting about it on GTP) I was looking for a 1/64 Alfa Romeo 8C, and while there was one when I was there, it costed almost 24 USD, which was way beyond what I could afford for a 1/64. Instead, I found a Lamborghini Murcielago and a Ferrari 288 GTO, both in 1/43 and made by Hot Wheels Elite. Each one costed 149 HKD (~19 USD), which, to me, was rather cheap, so I just bought both of them. I actually wanted the AUTOart 1/18 Murcielago LP640 in orange, but it was sold out, so I had to make do with a 1/43 version.

The car itself is of high quality, with no damages or mistakes visible. While it isn't as realistic as the Minichamps version, as evidenced by the brake discs and engine bay, I actually prefer this one more, as its headlight housing is more beautiful, and its spokes are actually spaced. I'll try to sum up what is impressive with the car, and what is slightly disappointing in the following:

What is impressive:
  • Their abundant use of metal transfers and photo-etched parts (for vents, etc.), in and out of the car.
  • The presence of seatbelts and buckle clips.
  • The detailed interior.
  • The fact they decided to recreate the windshield wiper meticulously instead of using a generic one.
  • The detailed engine bay.
  • The perforated brake discs.
  • The fact ventilating fans are featured behind the rear air vents.
What is slightly disappointing:
  • The slightly tilted side mirrors.
  • The reverse light was a photo-etched part instead of a clear plastic merged with the taillights.
  • The lack of underbody details.
  • The brake discs and calipers kind of wobble when the car is pushed.
  • The lack of decals to recreate the Lamborghini fonts on the brake calipers.
  • The fact it features 3 pedals instead of 2, which is really odd, considering that the real one doesn't have a clutch, I guess.
  • The excess plastic on the rims.
Enough of the talking, here're the photos:

Consider this to be my Christmas gift to you all. Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays! :)

And now here is my 2016 1/18 model total:

Merry Christmas to you too. :)

Oh, as I post this, I am on my way to the airport. I'll be flying to Hong Kong and stay there for five days.

Another diecast hunting trip has started. ;)

Merry Christmas!

If I'm not mistaken, there are a few around with manual gearbox. Very limited, probably only on request. But they exist!

My dad really spoiled me this Christmas, almost cried of joy  The Porsche will probably take a while to finish but I'll share the planes asap :)

Yeah, but my 1/43 version has paddles behind the steering wheel, which leads me to think that it's designed with a semi-automatic gearbox in mind, so having 3 pedals is a bit odd. The pedals aren't really visible though, so this mistake doesn't really bug me a lot.

Interesting model BTW, and thanks for the greetings, everybody. :)

Hm that's odd, does it have a stick too?

This is the second Ixo that I bought. Unlike the first Subaru, I bought this at a normal retail price of 139 HKD (~18 USD), and the sole reason I decided to buy it is because I don't think the same car is available at any other scale by any other manufacturer. As usual, the build quality is fine. The three things that I like are the fact that the rear license plate is a piece of painted plastic instead of a decal, the presence of a spare wheel, and the presence of brake discs. The absence of brake calipers still make it far from perfect though. Two more things that I don't like are the fact that some of the livery are (I guess) decals instead of tampos, and they decided to paint the whole headlight in chrome. Maybe I should learn not to expect too much from a cheap model car. Here are the pics:

A pic of the interior (you can see the spare wheel here):

One more photo:

This may be my last post of this year in this thread, but this isn't all that I purchased this year, as there are 2 more model cars that I haven't posted pics of in this thread, and both are of higher quality.

Lastly, here's to a brand new year. Happy 2017, everybody!

Looks like I won't be posting any sort of year-end group photo of all my models (even though there was a mention of doing such back in 2015). It's just more work than I'd like to do for the sake of posting a photo.

So far, there is no targeted model in sight. I'm calling it quits on Autoart's Zelda Revolucion, Ignition's red/white/blue Fairlady 240ZG, as well as TSM's P1 GTR Geneva. In the interest of keeping the collection free of further fillers, I'm passing on the TV Bars Aston Martin by Spark.

I am, however, still looking forward to seeing TSM's Honda 2&4, whenever that comes out. I'm also curious to see how Ignition works out their RB Mazda RX-7. The Exoto D-Type is still the holiest of all grails I'd like to have, but at the amount of money it demands, I may as well save up for a giant drawing tablet like I've always wanted.

But yeah, I'm glad to know 2017's outlook on model collecting is pretty small right meow. Hopefully there won't be a large number of surprises that catch my eye.

My favorite Porsche color. The sole reason why I hunted this down...

GT Spirit's got this one:

Doesn't get any more RUF than this. The same could be said about that pun.

Not bad, Bburago. For the 1:43 scale Signature Series line, to use the budget model as a base then add some details such as correct side mirrors do make it look "premium".

Look who's rolling in dough. :P Even with that 5% discount from Jay Li, how much did this one set you back?

Greenlight said the 1/43 R32 GT-R was released in December. Has anyone seen any in stores?

At my Walmarts, I've only seen the Charger, Supra, S2000. I have a feeling that was an older release though.
