Apparently you can place your order for one, choose from three trims, and four colours. Will set you back 44000 JPY. Would you sink your moolah into this?

Thanks but no thanks.

Looks like GT Spirit quality for BBR money lol...

Visited Hobbytown USA during my trip to the Dallas, Texas area to see family. I was tempted to buy quite a bit, but ended up only getting one from the Dallas store. Autoart 1/18 Honda City Turbo II for what I feel like is a steal. I saw it on display in their glass case and asked them if they had the Motocompo or box. They had the box, but only briefly looked and didn't see the Motocompo it was supposed to come with, so they gave me a discount I felt that I couldn't resist. As they were loading the car into the Styrofoam, I saw a little compartment that had the motocompo but didn't mention it. Got it for $113. :D

They also had the Autoart Lancia Delta S4, which was tempting but $250. A few photos from some of their stores. Wish I got more models, but there was only so much I could fit in our luggage on the plane.

Woah, nice steal 👍
I wish my local Hobbytown stocked more than just the few Maisto 1/18's they carry...

Indoctrinate the local kids that model cars are the way of life. Make a meme out of it, make some raging fad about it on Tiktok that Hobbytown has the model cars. Bam. Demand > Supply. Business now takes action.

Jokes aside more hobby stores really need to focus their operations to a webstore as you can reach people on the other side of the world. It's asking for too much to expect your locals will really care to come by for your business to flourish.

I didn't realize they had more elsewhere in the US. Someone told me there's one in New Hampshire and another in Massachusetts, so I may have to check those out.

Really, I'd say the bulk of retailers that sell 1/18's mainly sell online, if they even have physical stores these days. Of all the places I buy models from, only like two have physical stores, and neither of them are close to me lol...

Yeah, they have stores all over the country. Went to one back when I lived in California, then there used to be one where I lived in Louisiana. One here in Knoxville, along with another one going towards Bristol.

Anyway here are some random pics:

Waited a while for this model (even if it's nothing special) because it mostly completes my collection of 1/18 scale Porsche "RS" models. This is a 1984 911 SC RS from GT Spirit. Sadly, I have it listed for sale already at a steep discount because it has a nasty paint defect on the front bumper... not sure what's going on with GTS quality lately, but it should never have left the door with this defect. I ordered a new one, too.

The pictures don't look as bad as it really is, the top edge has rough painted area nearly 2 inches long or so.

My local plane shop is alive and kicking again. There's been something of a revival with this hobby, so business has been very good despite COVID. In fact they've probably benefited during this time, which is great!
So this - is why our Memphis plane never came into St. Louis this morning and now I get to work tomorrow...

I love that. I've considered getting one myself from our company store. Thanks for the tag. :)

The FedEx MD-11F is one of the most iconic aircraft and I lost my **** when I saw one in Sydney. My first tri-jet! The aircraft I got (N604FE) is almost 30 years old, being delivered in May 1992. The aircraft still operates and has been spotted in Sydney, Hong Kong, Anchorage, Almaty, San Juan, London, Cologne, Dubai, Paris, Singapore and Tokyo. But you know the crazy part? The first MD-11 was delivered to Finnair on November 29 1990 and I got the model yesterday, almost 31 years to the day! What a happy coincidence.

Between now and the last time I took photos of the last batch of models I grabbed, there has been an 11-month gap. Procrastination, folks.

AUTOart 1/18 - Porsche 911 GT2 RS, but you probably already knew that.

Hmm.... I need to get more consistent with the lighting adjustments between each one.

1/18 scale Porsche 934 Turbo RSR from Schuco. I had an Exoto version in orange before this and regret selling it, but this Schuco is not a bad replacement for the price with all opening parts. Plus, I like this blue better.

This one is an oddball, for sure, but I love it. 1/18 scale Porsche 911 RSR from GT Spirit. For those wondering, the unique colors are based on a real car. The model is nice, overall, but I think the rear is slightly too high and some of the paint on mine is not great, but other than that its's a unique model in my collection.

Are there red ND on red ND shots made in the past?
Nope, seeing as no one makes a 1/18 Soul Red Miata RF. I am building a kit of one in 1/24 though, along with having a 1/43 in a matching color. Might have to take pics of the 1/43 on my car lol

Christmas present for myself:

I don't often buy 1:43's these days because the prices are ridiculous, but when I do it's usually something special. This is one of those cars, most notably because of Chaz Mostert. If it wasn't for that, and the fact that it was the GTLM class winner of the 2020 Daytona 24 Hours, I wouldn't have bothered paying $162.

I know partaking in this hobby is going to leave me further in the hole (and I have enough money sinking hobbies as is) but for my own research purposes:

What would be the best site to order scale models that won't leave me absolutely hosed for shipping rates? (That, or preferably, a Canadian based site, but beggars can't be choosers)
