The first qualifying session is done with two new lap records being set. Can the front runners take the win, or have a few racers kept something up their sleeves? It's time to find out :)

Please don't discuss total race times or lap times. You may discuss stategies if you wish though.

Ran a race with the BMW V12 and it was nearly perfect, or would have been save about three offs, two of which weren't my fault. The first, was just a result of not paying attention and going a little wide coming off a corner. However, the second time, the Sauber Mercedes came up and shunted me into the wall, resulting in a forced pit. The third, I was going around the long sweeper when one of the Nissans came flying underneath me and blasted me off the track. I'll definitely have to run the BMW again...especially since that forced pit ultimately put me a lap down, so I didn't finish all 35 laps.

Was able to get 11 laps out of the hard tires, and so, I decided that I could afford to pit early the last time and switch to soft tires and get a really quick lap time.

Have what I think is my finished LMP race. Two small offs for a total of maybe 5-8 secs. Might try again but not neccessay as I'm very pleased with my improvement over last year's performance. What a difference a years worth of races makes.

The GT1 was another story. AI cars are definitely in the way. After 4 tries and numerous sand traps. Hung it up and finished off my prep work on TTCRS.

You certainly were flying in the quali session! 👍

I was very pleased with my time in the LMP. Thought I could get into the high 1'07.xxx in the GT1 but couldn't put it together.

I did my first 35 laps after several restarts , just to get rid of the tailflys.
At lap 17 had to dodge pit exiter R8 in the apex of turn 1 causing off track.
At lap 30 I managed to T-Bone a spinneroo Minolta after turn 2 , before T1.
Resulting as a drive thru penalty. :dunce:

I will give this another go before deadline.

yeah, I almost t-boned a spun Nissan coming out of the chicanes before the last corner, but was able to hit the brakes and ease around it. But, yeah, just be warned, when these guys spin on this track they kind of sit in the middle of the road for a while.

Both runs done but might run again if I get a hankering. If only to try a different tyre strategy. And to erase the punt into the sand that the Bentley gave me coming out of the pit at turn 2M in my GT1 race. :ouch: Those Blue and Yellow barriers are so pretty. :dunce:

Well, I finished the run with the Panoz, but have to do it again 'cause I didn't get the total time. And I was about halfway through the Pagani race when I got slammed by a Ford GT ON THE LAP I WAS GOING TO PIT ON, so that screwed me over completely, because not only would I have had to pit on the very next lap, the car couldn't take corners without spinning out, so I just quit the race. I'll try again either later today, tomorrow or Saturday.

Time sent.

Did only 1 run, with the sound off, and my favorite metal cd blasting on the sound system, was fun lol. Had a couple spins on badly warn tyres aswell, other than that my race was pretty clean.

Finished my second run in the GTS Viper (first run I was hit by a spinning McLaren). I had a few off track excursions, including a spin into the turn 2 sand trap caused by a lapped Nissan 350Z Prototype Race Car. Ran on RH/RM for the first stint, then used RM/RM for the rest of the race.

so...um....what do you do if you get lapped? I redid my Panoz race and STILL ended up getting lapped twice by the 787B. I don't think I can keep it from lapping be once, so...what do I do?

On a lighter note, I finally completed my Pagani race, and finished on the lead lap even (only car in the race that didn't was a Ford GT...which I almost lapped...and I finished in 5th). In the end, it was good race. Tomorrow, after I get home, I'll do the BWM race one last time and submit my times. I think, if I can prevent an unneeded pit stop, I can prevent myself from getting lapped. We'll see...that Audi is FAST! Anyways, laterz.

Presumably, if you did not finish on the lead lap, you simply note that (including how many laps down you were) in the PM and your time will be included but ranked below those who weren’t lapped (or were lapped less).

I may have the same issue, I’ve only made one attempt in the AMG so far and finished two laps down.

alright...That Mazda is evil. Then again, the Panoz also got lapped by the Nissan R390 GT-1 As well. In fact, The Mazda was the only one on the lead lap...the Nissan was a lap ahead of everyone, and the rest of us (me in my Panoz, a Mercedes CLK-GTR, a Gillet Vertigo, and a Toyota 7 Race Car) were all on the same lap together, with the Toyota 7 almost going a lap down...the good news is, I did manage to come in third.

The best thing if you end up lapped is to PM the race winning cars time and the number of laps behind you were and i'll try to calculate something from there.

Sorry about that! Obviously that was assuming you couldn't get a race time in another way.

it's arlight. I believe the Mazda got a 46 minute time...something like 46.08.xxx...but yeah, I can run it againt tomorrow after I re-do the BMW's run.

The easiest way to find out what your own race time is, is by entering the replay menu. Your overall race time is displayed on that menu, and that is still the case if you do not finish on the lead lap. (This is how I’ve been checking my race times for every race I’ve done in these series.)

It is a lot more difficult to record/remember what the winner’s time was, as it is only displayed right at the end of the race and is not able to be found afterwards.

Running the GT1 race right now. I'm thinking if I get lapped again before I finish the race, I should set the number of laps to race on the game to 36 and see if I can complete the 35 lap/135 km+ race distance the next time.

well..at the end I was running laps in the 1'14.xxx range, and if I'm a couple laps down that all you'd really have to do is add about 2'30 to the time and you'd have a good approximent of when I would have finished.

So, I ran the BMW again. the fastest lap time was with Medium tires as I couldn't keep it on the track with the soft tires. But, I ended up in a firm second place. (although, a few more laps might have seen a 1st place finish). Started out with Hard tires and was getting 13 laps out of them, so I decided to finish the race with Medium tires which got 9 laps. Much better race this time.

And now, my times are submitted.

Greetings all -
1st GTS attempt in the Dodge Viper: T-boned the Pagani Zonda on lap 3

2nd GTS attempt in the Dodge Viper: Finished race but slow. Still sorting out pit strategy.

3rd GTS attempt in the Dodge Viper: T-boned the Pagani Zonda on lap 16

I didn't realize that the AI had such trouble with Apricot Hill. I'm getting faster, so I will make a fourth attempt.

4th GTS attempt in the Dodge Viper: Decent race, I may submit this.

5th GTS attempt in the Dodge Viper: T-boned the Pagani Zonda on lap 16

Luckily my Dodge Viper is sturdily built, so only minor repairs will be necessary.

Good luck with your races.

I have a strategy with the AI. at the start of the race don't make any passes, and be aware of when the AI pit. On the lap they pit, a lot of them get squirrely and some are always that. So, when you get near one that spins, don't rush the pass, and keep your distance. When they spin, usually they slide off course, but if they don't you want to slow down to see where they end up so you can zip around them. Remember, the Donut Makers are dangerous, so make sure you keep your distance. If you're careful, you'll pass 'em once and they'll all pit and you'll just go right by 'em and won't even see 'em again.

I'm really going to have to scramble to finish this race by the deadline; I'm still at 16:00 in my 24 hour race because I've been extremely busy for the past week, and although I'm free now, I definitely won't have time to perfect my race. It's possible but unlikely that I won't finish at all. Still, it should be pretty fun, although I hope that I don't have an experience like GTsail did, crashing into the AI and ruining multiple attempts.

yeah, Apricot Hill is kind of a short track with a lot of corners. And the AI generally does a great job of sticking to the best line, which is what you're trying to do, so, if you get stuck behind one that has bad tires or is just prone to spinning, then you can find yourself in a cloud of white smoke and eating some sheet metal. But, if you follow my rules and pay attention to when they pit (my experiences were every 5 or 6 laps. Occassionally they'll push it out to 7 or 8), then you can prevent most spin outs. Also, watch your rearview mirror and track map. When that a faster car comes buzzin' towards ya, try to stay out of his way. Eventually he'll pit, and you'll go by him again, but there's no need to risk sending yourself to the pits, as well.
