Thought I'd update this thread. Thanks alot to the assistance of

Episode 2 -homeforsummer
Our second guest on GTP's Star in a Reasonably Priced Car is one of the few very satisfied onwers of GT5, homeforsummer!
How did you find your way here to GTP? How long have you been a member?
I've been at GTP for just over 2.5 years. I'd known about the site for much longer but never used it regularly until I bought a PS3 and GT5 Prologue, at which point I decided to join up. Hopefully my
first ever post set the scene for the rest of my time here, although admittedly I use the actual GT sections a lot less nowadays!
So has GT5 been everything you expected?
I have to answer yes, because I'd not really been waiting on the game with any great expectation anyway. I've had one of the busiest years of my life this year so I've not had the time to get all hyped-up about it. In that respect, it more than meets my expectations.
What has been your favourite vehicle to drive so far?
This is where everyone expects me to say something slow and crap! I'm struggling to remember which cars I actually own in the game... the four I've got the most use out of, mainly online, are the MX5 in which I started the game and is now a supercharged monster, the red Chrome Line Mercedes 300SL which is good fun to drive, the Spoon CR-Z and of course my Daihatsu Midget II which has been turned into a 100bhp drift monster. Much as I'd like to say the Midget then, the MX5 is probably still my favourite.
What about tracks, anyone really stand out to you are your favourite?
The Nürburgring 24 hour layout with time and weather effects, by a long way. The sense of immersion is brilliant, seeing the headlights and tail-lights of other cars as you're going around the track.
What has been your favourite GT game and why?
GT5. I know some people say that some of the changes made throughout the series make some of the games worse, but to me each game improves upon the last in enough ways to still make them better games, so GT5 is the pinnacle of the series so far.
What other video games do you enjoy playing?
I don't actually play many other videogames, mainly through lack of time. I used to play Enthusia on the PS2 a lot but now GT5 has surpassed that one in handling as well as most other aspects, so I expect it'll gather dust now. In fact, the only none racing game I've played in quite a while is Mirror's Edge on the PS3, which I do enjoy.
I know you've driven quite a few vehicles that are in GT5, how do you feel their virtual counterparts stack up?
Let's see... I've driven real examples of the first-gen new MINI Cooper, several NA MX5s, the NC MX5, the Audi TT-S, the FTO GR, the Del Sol and the Ford Ka. Of those I've driven all the MX5s, the Cooper and the TT on actual race circuits and I'd say the game is pretty faithful in its reproduction. Though the stock NA MX5 in the game doesn't oversteer as much as the ones I've driven on a circuit before...
You've been doing some writing for an automotive blog, how did you get into that? What's it like to be an automotive journalist?
I've been working towards a career in auto journalism for a while now, but the best move I made was entering a website competition to win an iPad by writing articles. I didn't win an iPad, but they did offer me a job! It's good fun and I love writing and being more involved in the auto industry, but I'm not getting the full experience yet since I still have a regular day job that eats up most of my time.
Do you think having eco-green cars in video games like GT5 will help boost their acceptance among gearheads...errr petrolheads is what I think they call them in the UK? What else do you think it will take to get these eco cars to be accepted?
It's hard to say. In my experience, there seems to be a narrow band of people genuinely interested in electric vehicles, a proportion who are apathetic, and then another proportion who dislike the idea without hesitation. Without wishing to rock the boat too much, I tend to find that the latter group are generally the least educated on the matter, and once people learn more they at least fall into the apathetic group, where they understand the technology but aren't sure it's ready quite yet. To be fair to those who hate EVs, I also know a lot of EV-lovers who are a real pain in the backside because they refuse to accept that anything but an EV is a valid transport choice. As a massive petrolhead
and an EV advocate, either extreme annoys me. To answer the question though (!), I do think having EVs and hybrids might help a little, as it shows that they can actually be fun and it doesn't mean the death of interesting cars. You might want to check out
my article on the subject...
Being in tune with the automotive world must leave a lot of choices, but what's you favourite car and why?
Almost impossible to answer, but I'll give it a go. With an unlimited budget, the first two cars on my driveway would be a Ferrari 246GT Dino and a Porsche Carrera 2.7 RS, because they're both absolutely stunning and about as pure as driving machines get. On a more realistic budget I'd say an original, S1 Lotus Elise, preferably in the Type 49 colour scheme. It's the perfect expression of not needing masses of power to be fun. Though the Elise only wins as Mazda never produced a production coupe version of the NA Miata...
How did you find our Citroen? You can be honest.
Not too bad! The fixed-centre steering wheel is groovy but can't say it helped my laptime any. Was good fun though.
Any thing else your want to say?
It's actually quite nerve racking trying to get the best possible lap in one attempt...
Well then, lets get on with it and see how you did:
