GTP's Star in a Reasonably Priced Car Segment: Discussion Thread

If there's one of the REAL reasonably-priced cars, then there's no discussion about what we should be driving.

Anyone else sad that the Stig that will be in the car now won't be the Stig anymore? Apparently (all hearsay) BBC might bring a pink, female Stig in next. But that's beside the point. I would enjoy something like this for GTP.

Why do I get the feeling that Sabine Schmitz is going to be the "Chick Stig" if the rumour is true?

The car will need to be new or at least new-ish though. The cheapest car in the game is likely to be something used or so unspeakably horrible no one will want to use it .

Once we have a car list confirmed, we should have a vote on GTP on what car should be used. Pick 10 cars that would fit the bill, and have a poll. We can choose based on which is our favorite, which car fits the role better than others, how the cars drive in GT5 (specifically around TGTT), or how the car would bring character to this event.

Having a vote and nomination would just turn into a huge meaningless debate and in the end people wouldn't be happy with the car. I'd almost rather save time, pick a car, give the reasoning behind the car and have people not be happy. At least that way we can get started earlier .

As for an official car list, don't really know. I would think one might leak before release through either a review, or Apex book leak.

Besides being cheap and "new", the car should be a new addition to GT, and should be a premium car so it has significant meaning in GT. I wonder if we can ask everyone to drive in cockpit view. If so, then wet laps are gonna be crazy for sure.

Go for it, I encourage you to do so. Having events like that are good for the community. This segment will be more about the interview then the actual lap. The lap will just be something fun and to link everything together. Everyone will have to use the same car with the same settings and hopefully there are so hilarious faults along the way.

Based on my experiences though an open free for all just turns into a pissing contest. I want to focus on the person behind the wheel (err controller) more then a time. I'm sure a lot of Top Gear type things will pop up.

The point is that it follows the Top Gear format of laps and interview. The TG test track is unique as in it isn't really a circuit unlike Suzuka. Chances are that none of the past or present Reasonably Priced Cars will be in the game anyway.

There's nothing stopping anyone doing something similar at Suzuka now (in GT5 i presume) But this is Joey's idea, he gets to say what's what, and at the end of the day Jordan has given the idea the official GTPlanet seal of approval.

Okay, I just didn't get why he would specifically NOT use a Top Gear car (if available ofc) while the rest of the idea comes from TG.

I do find the claim that the TG track is used just because it's unique a bit strange, as I am sure the whole idea of this (in many people's heads) came up when the track was announced...

But all in all I think my reply was a bit to aggressive, I apologise.

If the car wouldnt be in the game, then use another car. but only if isnt.

I just finally took a look in this thread after avoiding it for a while because I'm not a huge TG fan. However... this is a fantastic, fantastic idea, now that I see it's more about the actual community and less about the car/track. Seeing a weekly post or something on the front page, with an accompanying article, about members from all around the 'Planet would be seriously awesome. Great idea, Joey 👍

I agree with someone somewhere about how ideally it should be a new-to-GT car, preferably Premium, so that it's significant, but I also agree that it'd be just easier for you to pick the car for the feature instead of a long-winded (and argument-fueling) poll situation. Do it!

Judging by the E3 video of the track... I think PD has probably done a lot of the camera work for us .

Yeah, I'm thinking more the interior views. I haven't seen a full lap replay from the TG track, though.
