Would you be interested in such a segment?

I think that this is a great idea, except for the pad-driving part. I can't drive with a pad to save my own life, and enough people have wheels that it shouldn't be much of a problem at all.

And I can't drive with a wheel to save my life, nor do I own one. I think a majority of people don't own a wheel.

Using the pad is to make it so anyone that's selected can participate in the event. If you get a bad time it doesn't really matter, this isn't a competition like the WRS events. It's more about the interview then the lap.

Great idea!
I would love to participate! =)

Actually, I´m thinking in a way I could do the same review of cars, the guys from TopGear do. =)

Will be awwwwwesome! =))

Wait so anyone you 'interview' has to use a gamepad around the track? Sorry, count me out. Some of the celebrities drive auto because they can't drive a manual. In my opinion, cater to those that prefer to use a wheel. If you see a wheel being an advantage, ask the DS3 players in WRS. Only using a DS3 for this is a HUGE disadvantage to wheel players, because we don't use the DS3.

Awesome idea. But you reall should let people choose wheel or ds3. If it was good enough for gt academy its good enough for this segment.

Ds3 is much easier IMO, but I hate it, its just not as fun as a wheel.

That said enforcing ds3 is a terrible idea and not necessary. Besides, just like there are Wet laps and damp laps etc you can simply state that DS3 or Wheel was used in addition to full manual or auto or sequential

First off, I think this is a fricking great idea!

Secondly, I agree w/xSnakex regarding using/not using a wheel!

if you think about the TV Show..how many of the participants drive an auto in their own car, but then have to come out and drive a manual? Or, for those who get a nice sunny day versus those who are unfortunate enough to drive in the rain...

Just denote who used a gamepad and those who use a wheel...

The minute you start imposing restrictions, for one reason or another, then you're going to start narrowing those who want to participate simply because of 'this' or 'that'.

Hey Joey, just a suggestion I have.

If the track creator is decent enough perhaps you could make a track on there and have the "GTP Test Track". This would at least keep the amount of practice one person could have down to a minimum as well as differentiate it from Top Gear a little more.

Also, I like the car you have chosen, it should fill the role nicely.👍

Actually that is a good idea. Once you choose the person to be interviewed, send them the custom track, and they have 15 minutes to post their fastest lap. That eliminates the cheats if you ask me.

I think his plans for a week are fine(assuming that's still his plan), this is just supposed to be something for fun and to get to know fellow members a little better, lap times just add a little excitement to it.

I don't think cheating will be a problem, a majority of the people he will probably interview are ones that have been here awhile, or at least proven themselves to be decent members.

I am super excited to see this go 👍

I'm going against the grain here: I'm in full support of it being DS3-only. People can balk all they want about it; since this is open to many people around the board, including people who aren't obsessed with their fastest laps, I imagine a good portion don't own wheels (even if a bunch of us fanatics do). It's not about setting your ideal time; it's about fun. And since we don't actually have weather, to the people who drive with a wheel and have to down-grade to a DS3 for the event... think of it as kind of like getting stuck with rain ;).

It's more about the community aspect, let's keep it fun and near-universal 👍

This idea is full of win. I'll have to explore the course creator and the ability to share with others but I like this idea a lot!

Justin's idea is great, but Joey, if it is more about the interview than the lap, then let people use their prefered method of racing.

The pad rule is not changing.

If you look at Top Gear, which is the most popular show that does something like this (though not the only), they have one car set up one way. Sure they occasionally bring in an automatic trans, but quite often you hear a celeb talk about how this was the first time they'd driven a manual.

Also you have to remember a lot of the guest they have on the show aren't from the UK so they have to drive a car with the steering wheel on the opposite side then what they are used to. If you aren't used to the pad consider it to be akin to driving a car with the steering wheel on the opposite side.

The lap is already going to be hard for some with no assists, cockpit view, N2 tires, and manual trans. I always drive with assists, auto trans, chase cam and at least sport tires...and I have to imagine others do too.

This needs to be fair for a majority of people, I know that by having an uploaded video I am already counting out people with a fast internet connection. However, they wouldn't be able to participate in any online race series without it.

I don't agree with the pad only rule. You're assuming that pads will be slow and wheels will be fast, when that's not always the case.

They've used an automatic Liana before, for Christopher Eccleston, so it's not always the same for every one.

Most of the time a wheel is faster then a pad, and if I would have let one use the controller of their choice people would be complaining it was unfair. Either way you can't win.

I'll probably never get selected for an interview, but I would love to participate.

I would rather use my wheel but, hey, whatever the rules are, I'm cool with that.

And the suggestion to use a created track sounds good, but hopefully there won't be any cheaters. The Top Gear track would make it more fun because its something we can all relate to.

But, in any case, sounds fun.👍

That sounds like a really good idea. I would be down. I'm not a well known poster however, been a long time reader but never really started posting till recently.

This does seem like a really awesome idea & more importantly a whole lot of fun & a way to make the GTP community better

In case you were in any doubt Joey, I'd be interested in this. Whether wheel or pad it doesn't bother me. It's a bit of fun :)

I'd been intersted, even though I only have a Dualshock 3, and no steering wheel. It's a really creative idea to do anyway!

You know this reminded me that I have to go premium since Gt5 is finally coming out  thanks!

What if you split it up into two leader boards? One using the pad and one with the wheel?I don't have a wheel but i plan on getting one and i think the person doing the lap should be able to pick their poison.Just my 2 Cents.

Or another idea would be to just put *W for wheel and *P for pad kinda like what TG does if its wet ....

Didnt see that, obviously I agree.

I vote yes!

And i want to see the episode where Jordan comes out. Lol

Maybe the first one? No, not really. Joey said the first guest has already been chosen and the weather where the guy is from is 'nice', 'cool', 'interesting' or something (I don't remember the word he used). I don't think he's talking about Jordan. Give us one more tip Joey! :D
