As part of celebrating the 10th anniversary of this game, someone on NoGrip has released a 10th anniversary patch and a collection of HD mods. Essentially, it fixes pretty much all errors on the cars that came with the game, adds some polygons and sprinkles the entire game with HQ glitter. Some examples (all thumbnails, so click for full size):

New HUD, sun/lens flare and improved car model.

More detailed interior for most cars, including a few fixes on some.

No, seriously. Add a little ENBSeries and I could mistake it for a 2016 release. As you may notice, there's about 70 cars in the view ahead and this is on relatively high settings - still runs relatively good, but that's more a case of my PC being.. not in top shape.

Night racing at Zolder with some of the new cars. Still not too shabby (shadows aren't on full detail - again, I have to make some performance sacrifices).

It even has a hi-res moon!

It does also come with a hi-res version of the Maserati safety car (with 2005 or 2006 livery), but since I have the Skyline Pace Car from Gran Turismo.. I don't really have a dire need to change that.

I thought the very basic game had aged quite well, but this.. all of my yes.

There is something else huge in the works on another forum for this aswell, don't know when it'll get released but I've skinned 30+missing cars for the project already.

Let me guess: all the cars SimBin forgot about? :D

This would be incredible!

It gets me a little sad when I see we could have had a Stealth B6 in the game, but it failed a technical inspection before the '03 Spa 24.

Apparently it's gone for half a year without me noticing there's a bunch of semi-official EEC GT3 addons, including these:

..and a few more.

As far as I can work out, the only GT3 cars notably not available for GTR2 are now the Cadillac and the Bentley.

Bentley is available ;)

If I can recall correctly, there's also an Acura TLX but not sure where the PWC mod is at...

I can never get that EEC nod to work. Either the cars never pop up in the showroom, or the game crashes at start. I have only one functioning mod with those cars, and there's one car in there that can crash the game, so it's kind of hit or miss if the race will happen.

...and that's why I retired the EEC GT3 mod long ago. Not only did I get rid of it, but I actually am not recommending it to be downloaded. There is another GT3 mod- the FIA GT3 2011 mod- that has less cars, but performs well and doesn't take any college degrees or special abilities to get in new cars. So I would recommend that if you want your GT3 fix for GTR2.

What have you downloaded? There's a few updates and fixes.

So you basically couldn't get it to work and think as you couldn't other people should not download it?

Except that mod is not as good as the EEC mod. Seriously the post/mod comes with a readme that tells you what you need to do and nobody reads them.

It's actually really simple. All I remember is that there's just a gamedata folder so you just extract it to the main directory. And then there's the sounds seperate. Simples.

I'm not sure what actually caused the issue, but I found some cars (read: the SLS) seemed to crash the game when your/AI car details wasn't on High or above. Not sure why, but there you go.

As for installing it, all of the above.

So SimBin is back from the dead.

Only a week after arguably their most memorable title and the one that made it to the Holy Trinity Of Modable Racing Games celebrated its 10th anniversary.

*engages Peladophobian voice*

Coincidence? I don't think so.

It's likely some error in the CAS file (GTR2's equivalent to rFactor's .GEN files) when the modders made it. I could probably have a look at this and see if I can get an easy fix for it because not everyone has a computer that can run a full 36+ car field of these on "High/Ultra" settings while streaming.

Brought this on steam last night with some money I had sitting in my account for a while. Patched it up and now I'm driving 550s around Monza. Only got a controller but still a heap of fun. Best of all being so old the game runs on my laptop really smoothly as I don't have a wheel and pedals setup with a dedicated gaming PC.

Played it off and on over the years but never got deep into it. FIA GT 2003/4/5 was when I really got into Sportscar racing so this is somewhat of a trip down for memory lane for me what with the big banger GT1 cars.

Does anyone know of some good controller settings for the wireless Xbox 360 controller?

This is for the Logitech F310 controller, but they're layout-wise the same. I would recommend 50% Steering Sensitivity and 75% Speed Sensitive Steering. This does make steering somewhat touchy (as this is what I prefer), but the linear input is nice for saving little slides or for finer line adjustments. You may also want to run 3-5% Deadzone on the steering axis so the car doesn't wander off in one direction even if it seems like you're holding the analog stick straight.

Many thanks. I'll try it tonight after work.

Just wondering about the 10th anniversary mod bundle, am I able to install everything in one go or do I have to select which mods I want manually and overwrite files one by one. I'm not really good at this type of thing-was a bit of trial and error getting the patches to work to take the grey liveries off the Ferraris and Porsches.

It depends. If you just get the patch all compiled together you can just extract it to the main directory.

Thank you.

I've been using nogripracing for mods so far. Are there any other good sites to download mods? I'm looking for sites that are safe to download from. I've been looking for an Aston Martin DBR9.

Do any of you folks know how to change the rims on cars?

The rims on the 2003 Roos Optima Viper's rims look a bit rubbish.

I just wanted to make this post to show that it has been a quite amazing time playing around with GTR2. I bought GTR2 earlier this year, yet didn't play with it in a while. I then started getting into the whole modding scene and trying out many more tracks and vehicles. Then in August 2016, I made my first-ever game video as well as my first-ever GTR2 video. It was in the vein of people who post videos about races. I have then worked on making a bunch of skins for various vehicles in GTR2.

I actually wanted GTR2 a long time ago, but my former PC wasn't powerful enough to take advantage of it. Glad I have it now and have worked around to try to play and enjoy GTR2. I even have said at times I kind of like GTR2 slightly more than rFactor. The GTR series is built on the rFactor engine, but GTR2 just has something a bit extra that makes it better. I would still recommend GTR2 to any racing/driving game fan.

Most of all, thanks to all of you for putting up with my ramblings and musings on GTR2. Maybe I'll try to get back into the flow of things and try more stuff out with GTR2 in the future.
