What kind of B spec racers don't know which ones to do
Indy 500. B-Spec that, and quit after 76 laps. Do NOT quit while in the pits, you've been warned.
Quit while Bob's driving down the raceway like any other lap.

Give me a slot for the garaya '03 please. But I'd like to test a new car please, not the Garaya '03.

I'm actually do some tests with the S2000 LM Race Car, the Asparadrink '04 and the NSX RM '91.

Here is how i do:

Reference car:
My Garaya '08 from the season 2 (specs from season 2)
Best lap on the pre-season 3 race: 2:04.9 at Suzuka
Go to pits at the end of lap 15.

Reference track:
Suzuka

Test cars.
I test some cars and try to manage the same performances than the Garaya
(Suzuka, 15 laps).
If it's too fast, i remove turbo or/and add ballast.
If it's too slow, i add a turbo and try again
If I can manage much more laps than 15, I add ballast and (or not) add a new turbo.
If I can manage only 13 laps or less, I've not found solution yet.
If I the car keep too slow with a full turbo, I've not found solution yet. I'm afraid to add any engine upgrade because if the cars become too fast, I can't remove it.
And Asparadrink and S2000 are Standards models, I have only one car per model so...
 
Can we possibly one weekend run a mixed pre-season for the new guys so they have an idea on passing etc etc.?

Of course! I need to get testing the Celica soon, not driven it before. Have a feeling you'll be a bit quicker though, but never say never :)
 
haven't you tested the "Razor Silvia" couse it's a GT300 car, a bit slow but maybe with a few more HP can catch up with the rest !!!
 
So you know: I wouldnt bother wasting your time :P

Even with a full turbo, that car is horribly slow, been tested many times by multiple drivers - so, just a heads up that most of the cars on your list were tested previously and weren't really up to the pace :(

S2000 LM Race Car? I keep a consistant 2:06 at Suzuka for 8 laps (not tested yet for 15 laps)
 
Razo Silvia and the other Lexus is a waste of time. Would love to have them but they just cannot perform.

Funny how most of the people's car choices for Laguna are different from Suzuka. :lol: I wonder how difficult it will be for some of us to decide which car to use for the season.

I just want to try out some different cars in real race before choosing between them (provided I even get to that point :nervous:). Many of these cars a new to me.

The Weds Celica I got in the first race is great, it is fast and easy to manage, and I do think I could stand it for a whole season. Some of the others might drive me insane for whatever reasons.

Welcome to WSGTC newbies! I'll keep this brief and in simple English. Race clean, disciplined, and respectful around your fellow competitors! Fast but incompetent drivers need not apply - rather have slow and clean! Read the Racing Code 685 times (Click Here!).

You must follow the Car Specs and Regulations pictured below (TBA)! Not following specs will result in an immediate Disqualification.

While inside the race lobby, do not use the 'CHAT' feature while Stewards are sending out instructions for pre-race checks. If you have questions, go ask them NOW! Otherwise, read the OP. We will be using a special pre-race qualifying that is listed below - Read it! Thank you for your patience!

Pre-Race Qualifying
  • Since we're not doing the weekly qualifying, we'll do a pre-race one instead.
  • After pre-race PP Checks are done, the track will be reset.
  • The field will be given 15 minutes to do their Qualifying in Free-Run
  • If you are satisfied with a lap, DRIVE back to the pits. DO NOT press PAUSE and then EXIT!
  • Again, drive back to the pits! Do not press pause and exit!
  • Stay in the Pits and wait for the start of the race.
  • Once everyone has been confirmed to be inside the pits, the host will start the race.
  • Once the countdown hits ZERO, DO NOT MOVE!
  • The field will roll slowly and maintain 50mph/80kph
  • Maintain your grid spots while holding a double-file grid (8 rows, 2 columns)
  • Follow the Rolling Start Procedure Inside the OP!
  • Goodluck and Have Fun!

  • Win the race
  • Finish 2nd if a Veteran (or previous round 1 winners) Wins
  • Finish 3rd if Veterans (or previous round 1 winners) finish 1-2

Do you plan to change the car regulations?

One issue I see with the current regulations is that on some cars its quite easy to cheat and still having the car pass all regulation tests. As an example, there is no problem to configure a Lexus to have 522hp/1100kg/612PP or a Motul to have 522hp/1130kg/610PP, both cars still having full aero.

Even if most drivers will not cheat, in a sizable starting field there will always be the few drivers that will cheat especially if its watertight that it cannot be discovered. In setting regulations I think a good guidance is, "if it cannot be policed, allow it".

The issue with relying on a HP based regulation is that if the car will have the powerlimiter set at less than 100%, it can in reality only be set at 10Hp increments even if its combined with a PP regulation.

I think the best regulations is to use a PP based system that can still be combined with not allowing engine upgrades as all of this can easily be policed. Then leave it up to each driver to configure the best car. One other benefit in my view that it opens up the possibility to run with less aero, ie tuning becomes much more interesting.

Only way I can see would be an option is to reduce it's aero, and make up for the lost pp with more power.
But with 7 bhp more, and less aero, the top speed will probably be 2-3 km/h higher, right?

No pun intended here. Just want to discuss the subject since it's interesting. 👍
