After reading the stuff that's left out of it (such as FP1 and FP2) and tyre scaling (so 100% races the only option even online, I do 100% career not online lol) I'm actually not buying it at all this year. It's the first F1 game since F1 2002 not to include all sessions.

Plus I'm starting uni on Monday so I need to cut back on gaming, spending 6+h a day on F1 wouldn't go down well lmao.

Ahh gotcha :(

Need some more international flavor to the series. Especially since there isn't any Americans in real life but right now it's nearly all Americans haha.

Joey, any of your friends from Sofa getting it?

I would have expected some to get it, but they all are skeptical since the last couple have had loads of problems. I'll try to coax some to get it; it's surprising they aren't since a lot of them are hardcore F1 fans.

I think the whole Sebastian Bourdais (not american but 4x champcar champion i think?) experience and Scott Speed experience and Montoya (South American I know) has deterred americans from entering F1.

Connor Daly (American highest up ladder to join F1) looks quick but I fear he has at least 1 maybe 2 more seasons in GP3 before he is ready for GP2.

Oh and NBA 2k13 comes out on October 5th :D!!!

I think it's the secrecy that bothers us possibly. I know when Kimi did some NASCAR tests, he was shocked to how nice and open everyone in the garage was compared to F1

Actually, Alexander Rossi is a test driver for Caterham right now, and has seen some pretty good results in GP3.

Got my teammate at Ferrari. Names Justin, he ran in our prototype series last 2 seasons and LOVES F1.

Gonna bump this incase some of you guys want to join and pick a team

He was in GP3 in 2010 and is in Formula Renault ATM. And being a test driver means nothing lol. Ask Garry Paffett/Pedro de la Rosa/Luca Badoer

True, but it's a stepping stone that more often than not leads to that illusive driver's seat. Plus with constant changing within those low teams, and the crappy drivers they have, I think he'll have a ride next year. No clue if he'll be successful, but it'll just be nice to see an American back in F1. We have the talent, I just don't know why they're not more prevalent.

I thought after a night of tuning I would be hitting the 1:42's, but I hit a 1:43.206 brick wall so that's what it will be.

I'll take Kimi's spot with Lotus unless you'd rather fill teams in which case Button at Mclaren if its open? Love the look of the Lotus tho...

It's good he's kept up with the Formula Renault as therefore the people coming up who are still racing would get his likely seat.

The trouble with the lower teams is that they need some funding from the driver, Williams are being paid $29m by Maldonado. And I don't think he, or Americans for that matter hold big sponsors...

Sometimes it helps. Lewis was a test driver in 2006 for mclaren? We all know what happened in 2007. (ferrari sorcery)

Understand you on that. I have no time as it is but I'm going to try and fit it in the schedule somehow. If it helps at all when the F1 league starts you wouldnt be running this GT series as I don't want to run them at the same time. Not sure if that helps haha

I think American companies have stayed away because we didn't have a race, and after the whole Indy tire debacle they've just assumed Americans aren't interested. Now that we have two races with secured contracts though, I think you'll see a lot more American sponsorship, and possibly a more focused effort on an American F1 team (USGP was such a shame).

It will help but I've got 2 possibly 3 exams to revise for in january, then I've got 7 more in june. Im just questioning my education now. My physics teacher has a bse, masters in solid state physics, PhD, and Post grad. Thats around 20 years of further education. And despite all this education hes a teacher -_- what hope do I have?

That's easy. My second year of a levels did 2 in jan, 11 in June lol. Further maths ftw -_-.

My whole reason to come back on GT5 mid exams was that my physics teacher said no matter what he gamed. He's gamed every day of is life lol. Even through uni. Mainly plays wipeout and GT5. He's damn good aswell lol. So thought if he can do all that while teaching, no harm in joining this series :P.

Don't worry dude, A-Levels really remove hope. But uni restores it, 99% of graduates on my course get a job within 9 months in the engineering sector :D.

Plus I'm only at uni a couple of hours each day it looks like. So I'm good to continue in this series when the next season starts :D

Lol. I wish i'd done further maths I still can but will have to do privately. Stupid college doesnt teach it. 99%? wow. Even Cambridge and Oxford have career prospectus in the 80's. Which uni you in?

So im guessing 1:41's guestimate pole time for 300's?

Can I claim the Mark Webber Red Bull? Might be a while till I get the game tho or it could be mid next month but definately by the end of next month

Sheffield Hallam lol. Engineering has a massive shortfall of employees lol. You're pretty much sorted for a year in industry then often that company employs you when you graduate.

British Motorsport creates more money than the British music industry.

How everyone can't find jobs it's cos they ain't looking in right places. Manufacturing firms are massively understaffed and they love graduates/students it's great. I have some experience using lathes and working with a F1 team supplier :D.

One way or another I will make it as a F1 mechanic.

Getting. On topic. It's real easy to lose a second in the last sector here. There's 1 quick line which is obscure and hard to get right lap after lap.

I can get 37.8s regularly, but any lower will be hard.

Upon reading online, it seems we may need to set a pit window for this game. Some people are saying that the wear scaling is different now and if you drive smart you can nearly go the entire race on option tires and then just pit coming to the white flag for the primes so you don't break any rules.

I would hate to see that...

I'm getting the game as well, but I don't follow F1 that closely to know much about teams or whatnot. I just like video games lol.

So if I do sign up, I'd like to be on a team with somebody and not by myself hehe.

Awesome! I was hoping both of you'd be getting the game

Alefin, I believe Dylan is getting the game so you two could team up just like the GT series

I don't think that will be an issue. If we're doing 20+ lap races the tire wear will affect you enough to notice pretty significant time drops and car control will be more difficult. Really, it's in your best interest to pit when your engineer tells you to, especially since you only spend about 15 seconds on pit road anyway.

Hey Shagg, can some of the stewarts run GTRRL so we don't loose drivers over the dead time?
