Official finish line explanation
[ . . . ]
The checkered flag process first starts off with the leader of the 500 class. When the 500 leader comes to take the checkered flag and finishes, this starts the end of the race. This is obvious when the server says who the winner of the race is. The rest of the 500 cars continue until they cross the line again and that sets the 500 results.
Now after the finish line message comes saying who the winner of the race is, the next time the leader of the 300 crosses the line, that designates the checkered flag for the 300 cars. For now on, when the 300 winner crosses the line, they are to type into the chat "Win". This will now tell everyone in the 300s that the 300 leader has taken the checkered flag and the rest of the 300 drivers go until they come back to the line. You are only allowed to cross the finish line once after the leader of the class has taken the checkered. So if you are a lap down to the leader of the class and you cross the line after he does you are done also. You don't keep to keep racing to get your lap back.
To enable all of this to happen the time delay in the room will be set to the highest to ensure that everyone on the lead lap of the 500s, and 300s get to cross the line. The time delay doesn't decide anything and is just there to give extra time for everything to finish. The stewards will always check the replay after the race to make sure things are right. If you feel a result is wrong and needs to be reviewed, message a steward and we will analyse the tape and fix or give an explanation.
