Gumpert has released a teaser of an all-new model that the German carmaker will unveil at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March.
The specifications of this new model are still shrouded in mystery. The Altenburg based company didn’t released any information of what the car is going to be named or what it will look like. But it appears the car in the teaser is reminiscent to the Gumpert Apollo. According to Gumpert, the car was recently tested at the Altenburg airport near Leipzig, where it made an “unmistakable” sound
At this year’s edition of the Geneva Motor Show Gumpert unveiled the Tornante. But but since then it has been quiet around the elegantand comfortable sports car. Could it be possible that a new version of the Tornante will be presented in Geneva?

Painting it black makes it an entirely new car. You guys never heard?

Nope. New to me!

Seriously though, from the picture I'm expecting a an updated version of the Apollo. It's starting to age a bit and a new version would be epic.

I'm expecting a transition similar to Koenigsegg's CCX-to-Agera; same basic body design with much more "modern" look.

A 2nd teaser pic was released-
“Calm before the storm…”
What is it going to do eat me?
Should be interesting this to see if either they go for an even faster car or a car more for the wealthy supercar driver not the Mega wealth super racer adrenaline junkie

Knowing Gumpert, it might.

This has to be another Apollo, it looks so similar!

So I see it's still ugly enough that a baby dies every time they sell one, then...

I just can't get excited about a new Gumpert, whatever the performance, when there are so many super/hypercars out there that go quickly and look amazing.

If it's launched at Geneva this year I might have to go everywhere looking into a mirror, lest I catch a glimpse of it and turn to stone.

I like things that look functional. I loved the way F1 cars looked in 2007, and I like the look of the Enzo. I even like the design of the McLaren MP4-12C.

See and I hate the design of the Enzo and 2007 F1 cars. I like the Gumpert Apollo because it looks like straight out of a Burnout game.

EDIT: Same with the Zenvo btw.

There's functional, and then there's hideous.

If you excuse the comparison, women are "functional", but you'd still go for the Italian or Swedish stunner over the 20-stone German shot-putter...

people just saying it is functional because it can't be aesthetic. :D

In the age where everything is wind tunnel tested it will remain a myth until someone gets hold of proper figures.

I don't think there's any doubt that Gumpert will be designing a body with tons of downforce.

if the body itself has tons of downforce they wouldn't need a wing.

Uh... No? What's wrong with designing a body to produce lots of downforce and then adding a wing to further increase downforce.

It's very hard to shape a body in such a way that it meets the downforce goal of the car's design by itself. This is especially true with cars like the ones Gumpert build where the attitude towards downforce is pretty much "the more, the better." It's crucial for there to be a dedicated device (eg. wing) in addition to the body to provide downforce to the rear tires that have to handle XXX horsepower.

If the body isn't designed for downforce, what do you reckon it is designed for then? The only alternative would be low drag, which wouldn't conform to the aerodynamic bodies I've seen in the past...

A other teaser from Gumpert.

They will have 2 cars that they are going to reveal at Geneva.

It looks like an updated Apollo.
