New Gumpert Tornanate

Looks more like an early 90's concept car than a 21st centuary 'Hypercar'.

Yawntastic.
It does. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it does look like a concept rendition from the 90s.

Sadly since October last year, good old Gumperts company is insolvent...they are however eventually be able continuing business operations due to German Insolvency Law, but all in all I'd say it doesn't look good...

I've always quite liked the Gumpert, mainly because I like the man behind it (was one of the fathers of the quattro in his Audi days, and now quite eccentric, in an amusing way:sly:)

Maybe they should have built this not quite so outlandish concept first, it looks like it might have found more customers than the Apollo.....

How long before Will Smith uses it to fend off the robot apocalypse?

It's got a nice ass, but beyond that everything on it looks so plain. Gumpert literally has the widest styling range to any manufacturer I know of. From the most plain car I've ever seen to the most over the top.

I prefer over the top.

Just seen this thread and the car for the first time, Googled it and I think it looks great, personally. Shades of Morgan (or more so Weismann perhaps), the De Tomaso Mangusta, that hybrid Jag I forget the name of, a smidge of the Noble M600 and still some echoes of the Apollo. And those square LED lights are neat.

Reading this thread I expected it to look like a mess, I really think it looks cool and will be sad if it never sees the light of day. But hey, different strokes for different folks.

EDIT: There appear to also be models/renders of a "production version" which I like less than the concept, though I still like it lots. Guys, please just Google the name and tell me you think if you saw that car on the road it would look bland? Sheesh compared to some "supercars" around nowadays (coughGTRcoughLFAcoughcough) it looks like it was beamed in from outer space, and thankfully not like it was made of lego by an 8 year old, like the Apollo.

The Gumpert Apollo is still a car I think is a video game car come to life. It's kind of like a car from a Burnout game- you know, a car so ugly to where you reluctantly want to crash the car again and again. Or maybe a car you'd expect to see in a Ridge Racer game. Really, that car was more like something you'd see in a Ridge Racer. You can't hate the Apollo for it's performance figures, however. I've actually never hated the Gumpert too much for its looks. I'd actually want to get next to one, unlike (for example) the Ferrari FF.

So then I see the Tornante... dear God- what a beautiful Gumpert! Almost never imagine a company like Gumpert could make such a lovely machine. It's the same way I felt when Saturn made the Sky. The car looks a little horrid from behind, but not Corvette C7 ugly. I really dig this Gumpert.

One little suggestion... it's "Tornante," not "Tornanate." I did a Google search for "Tornanate" and shown me the correct spelling- Tornante."

Really, the renders are all over the place. The earlier renders with the glass hatch are cool, but later ones with the louvres are kind of... well... can't really decide. The rear end is pretty fat in a Veyron-ish kind of way, but the front end styling and the shape of the rear fascia are nice.

I agree with this, certain aspects of the design are great but others look awkward.

Is it out there on it's own or is competing with the already established range of exotica! It isn't as bad to look at as the Apollo but my God its ugly:yuck: The front grill looks like a pout that is both wide open and to high! It is gastly!:yuck:
