The Veyron is only good for top speed, the Gumpert can turn a corner. Therefore, the Gumpert.

The Gumpert (see top gear test), but indeed if you want to be comfortable the Bugatti is very much ahead.

Troll much? You're going to notice the difference between a 1 minute 17 second lap and a 1 minute 18 second lap? That's turning a corner versus not turning a corner?
Obviously the Veyron is the way to go. The Gumpert is a very limited vehicle basically intended for track use. None of you on this thread could ever possibly notice the difference in performance between the Gumpert and the Veyron (even on the track). All of you will notice the difference in noise, ride, build quality, interior materials quality, comfort, and amenities.

Maybe he wasn't talking about lap times. The Veyron probably made all it's time up in the straights and it would be hard for me to imagine it being anything than a tank through the corners. Doesnt sound fun at all. Aside from this, it's generally accepted that the Top Gear power lap board is an exceedingly poor judge of a car's performance.
You bring up a good point, though. One that I agree with. Most people don't truly understand how uncomfortable and noisy it is to drive a really stripped down car until they've bought one thinking "oh, I'm tough. I can handle a bit of a racket."

According to Top Gear, the Apollo is so hardcore, they don't even let you adjust the seating in fear of ruining the car's weight balance. Too hardcore for me, so I'll go with the Veyron.

Can I plead neither? The Veyron is WAY too played out (not to mention awkward-looking), and the Gumpert doesn't do anything for me either. I think there are more attractive cars that still handle superbly - think Pagani Zonda, Ferrari Enzo, etc.
But if I'm forced to choose one or the other, probably the Veyron simply because it's better appointed inside... I could at least be comfy as I try to forget about what the rest of the world sees me rolling by in...

I know you're not the OP, but this thread would benefit from a poll I think. It'd be interesting to see how many fall on which side of the proverbial fence.
For me it would be luxury over speed most days.

It's a difficult question as they don't really compare.
If money is not a problem, the veyron would be my daily driver (it handles legal speeds well for such an engine) and the Gumpert would be for fast and track use.

They Veyron is so undertested that I don't think that there is any good indication of its performance. That said, it's not much different for the Gumpert.
Still, I'd personally wager that the Top Gear Lap times are making the Veyron out to be better than it is. I do really wish I could have my opinion verified or debunked though.
Gumpert all the way for me, the Veyron simply cannot be compared to that car. Even if I couldn't handle the Apollo, getting it to 50% would probably bring me more joy than setting the lap record at every track ever built in the Bugatti.

The driver ergonomics in the Gumpert is a deal breaker, actually I will sell the Veyron and buy a GT3RS4.0 and a 458.
I don't understand the following the Gumpert has, it is not a particularly good handling car (very understeer biased and not modulatable mid corner), it's just a lot of grip and downforce with also a lot of power. shock value yes but you can have more fun in things way less expensive and slower. Things that you can actually enjoy a bit on normal back roads. The gumpert also has no heritage, history whatsoever.

I'd honestly have to take them both for a long drive and give them both a good testing. Leaning towards the Veyron slightly, though it says something about the Veyron when someone prefers the looks of the Gumpert Apollo, which I do.

If it's the Apollo S vs. the Super Sport, my vote goes to the SS (as long as I can opt out of that horrible orange trim). If it's the Apollo Supercharged... things just got a whole lot closer. The power disadvantadge suddenly isn't nearly as big, the handling isn't likely to be much worse... I'm thinking that thing could beat up a Veyron SS if driven properly.
