Why is there ice in Texas?

Texas is a big place man. Dallas is near the Oklahoma border and it sits right in the middle of the Great Plains. What this means for our weather is that there is basically nothing to stop cold air from Canada making it to just about Austin. Couple that with warm moist ocean air from the Gulf, and you get all kinds of strange weather. We get some pretty massive thunderstorms and tornados around here as well. But the ice ... you wouldn't believe the ice.
