Right now I have an 80 series flowmaster and I quite like it. It doesn't have the volume or throaty note I'm after but it definitely sounds better than the GMMG and SLP Loudmouth II exhaust I heard in person. I have yet to hear the first video in person (Kooks True Duals) but the system has nothing but excellent reviews.

Also got LED's for the license plate, glove box and dome light in the mail.

Whatever you want to do with your car is cool, but personally, I've never understood LEDs for rear license plate illumination. LEDs generally light the plate up better, and lighting the license plate up better is the last thing I want to do with my car.

Just passed SMOG today as I am getting a new plate, current one makes me look like a bit of an a:censored:embarrassed:le.

So what plate are you running now? Just a bog standard Asomethingsomethingxxx, or you still keeping your old plate combo?

I'll be honest, your old plate was unique, and it was something I looked out for whenever I see a red F-Body Firebird around.

I got them to replace the fugly yellow 90's lighting. Funny thing is now it's actually harder to see my plate. LED I got is directional and the way the housing is setup most of the light is aimed at the ground

It was unique... a bit too unique. People would park super close to me, ride my bumper and cut me off for no apparent reason. Then when I drive my parent's car everyone's nice

My new plate:

Well I got one of those DIY A/C rechargers from Autozone but my system won't hold a charge. Might have to just hand it over to a shop...

That is what I would do too. I don't like messing around with the A/C. They will usually pressurize the system using fluid that shows up under a black light then look for leaks.

I'm all for doing things yourself (all mods so far done by me) but chasing a leak in a car's A/C system is something I would never get into. That and window tint

Also since I know everyone here LOVES my tail light blackout's I got some for the front :D

Light output is surprisingly good...

Nice, it matches the front end well. Now all the orifices up front are blacked out.

So going back to no front plates, I've ran mine without for about 4 months now and I haven't had a problem so far (*knock on wood*). You can try running your car without as well and see if the same works out for you?

I've been seeing a lot of windshield plates lately around here.

I've been seeing everything from custom mounts to custom made plates and even window stickers

The blacked out front lights turned out really good.

@Harry6784 You can leave your plate in the trunk or on the floor in the back. If you get pulled over you can say something like you were on your way to a shop to get it installed. The cop would probably let you go or just give you a warning. If he follows you, go to a random shop and wait in the lot. Then he'll probably leave and you can do the same shortly.

Our 99 Camaro has only ran back plate since we bought it. This was in 2001. So 13 years without it and no issues. Then again it doesn't have a front licence plate mount.

Is that a law in your state, though?

Your point is very valid 👍 Just didn't cross my mind when I posted it. I assume not then, and the fact Ohio does not care at all what you do with cars and car regulations in general. As long as it goes 25, has seatbelts (Unless its a Historical Vehicle), and has lights it's street legal and can be registered.

Tabs came but plate is still nowhere to be seen...

Changed my coolant meanwhile, also added a power steering cooler:

Nasty coolant

Old power steering "heater" used the car's coolant to "cool" PS fluid. Often it heated it up and usually leaks PS fluid into the car's cooling system. Luckily that didn't happen to me yet but took the opportunity to remove it and add a real cooler.

That's one hell of a temperature difference. Makes me wonder how much the oil and tranny coolers make a difference on the pickup.

Excellent and will be even cooler when you are moving.

Never knew the antifreeze was also flowing through the ps pump in those cars. I guess I never noticed that on mine.

Many cars didn't even come with PS coolers at all, it was usually added to the top of the line models, WS6, Firehawk, SS. Just removing the cooler brings the temps down to 170-180.

There have been recorded incidents of the cooler actually blowing up when you push the car really hard on a hot day due to the increased pressure. Thought I'd change my cooler before rather than after that

Well tabs came a couple weeks back but still no plates to be seen. I could have sworn last year they all came in one envelope...

Also finally found one downside of a racing clutch, getting on rhino ramps is very tricky due to the clutch not wanting to slip

Ahh I see another forum member from LS1 tech.com. Havent been on there in years but used to do a LOT of business there. Especially for 4th gen Camaros and Trans Ams. Actually met quite a few of those members on the power tour in 2004.

So much information on ls1tech. Threre's hardly any need to start a new thread because most likely it's been asked and answered before

Love the Trans Am, @Harry6784! I'll admit I got a good laugh out of the hybrid badge, too.

I've got a question about the blacked out foglights. Did you buy them like that or apply a product for the effect? Also, you say light output is good but how does it compare to it's pre-blackening performance?

I've had an idea to put HID spotlights in the 300zx's standard fog light housing and blackening the cover would make it aesthetically match the car's indicators. If the colour sucks up half the light though It wouldn't be worth the functionality sacrifice.

Cheers!

Thanks!

I bought the covers and they just slid in place. Light output is good but noticeably less than before. I wouldn't say half but it's quite a bit.

How are you getting around the having tabs but no plate yet thing? I assume you didn't put the tabs on the old plate?

Also, I thought the tabs come pre-stuck on the new plate? You sure they didn't mess up and you're not actually getting a new plate?
