Welcome to the "I want the Spoon S2000, Del Sol LM, and FTO LM, but can't get Gold Licenses" Club....

....I'm not only the President, but I'm also a member!

I have the Spoon S2000 - it sucks but it is proof that you got all golds on at least 1 license test. :D

I'm trying for Copperhead Concept Car at the moment.

That one took me a while too. I hate that test. Let me know if you need a copy of those hard earned cars. I'm pretty sure I still have copies of my old GT2 saves on the PC. I've got piles and piles of GT2 saves and I believe the del Sol LM in red and black.

I have sat and did all the golds in all the lic tests on one of 4 cards. On the S lic the full lap with the Viper on Leguna Seca and the final test with the Toyota GT1 were the hardest.

I am sitting them again and managed the B lic in 1hr 20 min total time. Believe it or not the GTR breaking test gave me the most grief sheeeesh.

The only thing that can help you is what the show me or hint the game does to show you the proper lines. Also pay attention to the speeds, braking points and turning points. You will find that the time is beatable by as much as .3 secs.

I've got all gold on the B license only, but the most frustrating thing is I have at least 7 or 8 golds in all but the S license

A lot seem to have problems with the NSX. I would suggest if you drive auto, grab a factory standard NSX and practice with it. Do not upgrades or changes to it. That way you will get a feel for the way the pig handles, and it is a pig.

A couple of the tests that gave me heaps of greif.

Subaru Legacy wagon- Braking around the left hand corner.

Alfa - Rome from the second half of the long straight through the double left.

Toyota GT1 - Down the hill medium right up the hill through an off camber left.

All the Lic test have their own problems like the salom tests.

I use manual all the time and found it helps and hurts depending on the test. Actually on some tests I have beaten the Gold time by .35 sec to .001 sec.

The braking tests are the only ones I could do easily without trying 5x. Slide the car sideways, it'll drop a few 1/10th's of a sec off the time.

What pisses me off, it that it's easy to get silvers, but the step up to golds is like 2x as fast as the step from bronze to silver.

like....

Bronze - 16sec
Silver - 14 sec
Gold - 10 sec

Bastards.......I may just have to get a gameshark.

i've got the Spon S2000, and it's not as bad as you guys say it is.
sure it's kind of slow, but it looks good. pretty much all (stock) S2000s are like that.

haven't even tried any of the other license tests.

I have the Spoon S2k. Though it's not as fast it's about as powerful as the normal maxed, and it's lighter. Meaning that Accel, Turning, Breaking, and Overall speed are better.

The Copperhead Concept Car is good, just a bit loose in stock form, if you have the Concept Car LM it's basicly the same in it's racing gear, cept it's yellow and purple. Actually the LM is better, but if your a Dodge fan and want to have the Copperhead in it's origional form, you'll like it. A bit of tweaking and it'll be fine anyway.

I'm working on I-C right now, like I said in the other thread. Can anyone give me hints on how to beat the blind corner test, I'm like .100 away from beating it and I'm pissed off.

I really wanna know what that little yellow and green badge is in the game status menu under the Bronze. I've got 0 but I still wanna know!

That took me a while to figure out but have since by mistake. It stands for lic aquired in GT1 and you converted them over to GT2 which you can do. If you scroll down on the start menu screen where it says start game, options, trade, bla bla. you will see where you can do this from.
If you are starting from scratch in GT2 they will stay zero.

No, the little green and yellow badge is the "loser's medal" lol. You get that little badge when you miss the Bronze by .2 tenth's of a second. You can go back and get the actuall bronze (or silver or gold) and that badge will go away.

The green and yellow books are both; I think it depends on the version you have. On mine (NTSC 1.0), it's what you get for converting a GT1 save to GT2. You get 20 "books" after you start your GT2 game; the golds you achieved in GT1 don't count for squat in GT2....just credit towards an A license.

It took me about 10 tries to perform each of the slalom tests; never once did I get a "kiddie prize". Some swear they've received it, so it's hard to refute those rumors. Then again, many swear they have seen a McLaren F1 in the game!

I'm trying for the all-gold I-C tests; but I'm closer on the Superlicense and I-A. I'm not thrilled with the '99 GT-One as a License Prize car (same specs as '98 anyhow)...I'd rather earn the FTO LM for real; however, it's sooooo painful to waste that time!

It is hard to say what the real difference is. I have both and set both up the same yet the 99 seems to handle a touch better especially in the braking department.

The FTO LM is no where as dominnant as it was in GT-1 but is a well balanced car though it is a bit tail happy.

The CRX DEL-SOL cranks some amazing revs and awesome lap time though you have to rev its nuts of to get any type of performance out if. It is also a bit tail happy especially under hard braking while turning. Oversteer is simular to the NSX's.

In the grestest hits version, the blue and yellow books are the "consolation prize" after you come very close to the bronze 2-3 times in a row. I've never owned GT-1 so I've never converted the licenses.
