I love it. I will never sell it, although that is not an actual picture of mine. :) Mine doesn't have the piezo, but it's identical otherwise.

Here's all of my current porn collection:

Fender P-bass I just stripped the paint from, belongs to the bassist in my band. He is going to spraypaint the scratchplate black (if that doesnt look good he will buy a new one, black), sand down the body and then put a very slightly darker stain on it. It used to be blue with a slight silver/white tint to it.

I'll have to check the wheels on mine, but I'm pretty sure mine are the same size as yours. :sly:

Tom-I want that Tanglewood Strat :D

I know you're young, but I realized the other day that I have spent more than ten times that. :sly:

Michael Kelly Patriot Limited. $600 guitar, got it for $400 lightly used :) It's a great guitar, the Grover tuners are so dang smooth!

They look about the same size. I love them. Used to be able to spin all 4. Mine are 8 lug, lugs are chromed with chrome American Racing center caps.

I'll probably add some pics to this tomorrow, I don't have a lot compared to some people in here, but meh

Got a BC Rich Warbeast, and a knock-off Strat, along with a Vox DA20 amp, and a Digitech Whammy Pedal.

I'm probably gonna look at adding something new to the collection though. In my dreams I'd love to add a Les Paul Zack Wylde Signature, a BC Rich Bich Double Neck, and a Hofner Violin Bass.

At the moment I can just about afford the BC Rich, but I'd be skint afterwards, so I'll probably settle for a couple of new pedals. Anyone have any suggestions?

Tom
No you don't. It was my first "proper" guitar and it's got so many dents, dinks and paint chips that you'd think that Hendrix used it. :sly:

I'm actually a fan of beat up Strats...they just look so cool in my opinion :)

I don't have a method of posting any images on the internet and linking to them, but if you're interested you can click on my profile. I put the photo of my 3 guitars & bass in a photo album called 'guitars'.

Tom
That looks lovely. šŸ‘

Thanks.

Its my bargain bits buy, picked it up from a local guitar shop for Ā£100. Its a mishmash of parts from different sources.

The body I believe is a Squire 20th anniversary (based on the neckplate and serial number) that has been refinished in nitro. The neck appears to be off a Fender, as are the tuners, pickups and the entire bridge.

Whoever originally put it together put a lot of effort into it and it plays stunningly and is a nice conversation point given its mixed origin.

I was considering getting an MIM Strat but they're still quite expensive. I've love an NDM 1 or 2 though. Can't go wrong for playing The Offspring.

Give one of these a go (as long as you don't mid red).....

... for Ā£310 is a cracking piece of kit.

In fact, what Squier has done is get this Strat as close to the US Fender blueprint as the bean-counters will allow. To play, the body is identical (though inevitably lower cost), while the neck is comparable, adding up to a faithful physical rendition of the most comfortable design on the planet.

No its not a MIM or a MIA Fender, but for the money its a solid guitar that plays and sounds great.

Well worth a look in my opinion.

Very nice, not such a fan of the red though. I'm gassing for a white guitar of some sort. Plus I don't really have the money to purchase another guitar sadly. :(

Squiers are amazing guitars considering the money, i've played a bunch of them (and own a squier strat) and they have always been impressive and easy to play guitars. With that said they can usually use a pickup upgrade, maybe some nicer tuners and benefit from a nice graphite nut upgrade, at that point they get expensive, but it will still net you a guitar that is fantastic, and still very affordable.

As for the guy looking to buy pedals above, if you don't know what you want you should save your money until you know what you do. I've bought pedals in the past that ended up gathering dust, because other than a quick mess around they served no purpose in my playing. Most important thing (in my view) is that you get the best guitar and amp that you can afford. "Best" changes from person to person, because its all about the sound, the look and the feel you are going for.

Personally guitar wise I want a Fender Custom Shop Telecaster, though due to recent purchases that is a little out of my league money wise, one option for me is to get a used mexican fender telecaster, strip it down, refinish the body and replace the pickups.

On Scaffs guitar, so you're talking about a 2002 model squier body, now around that era squier were using 70's style headstocks on their guitars (which is the same as what you have), the frets on your guitar are very similar to many used in that era by squier (a smaller more vintage style fret), mine is from 2000, neck looks the same, frets are the same as is the headstock shape. Only difference is your headstock sais Fender. So at that point I have no idea. If there is a serial number at the back of the headstock, its not too difficult to work out via google.

Crappy phone photos are the best I can manage unfortunately.

It's a shame I have to keep the guitars where they are, I could really do with a couple of solid cases to keep them in, but I don't have enough room in my room to do so (as the clutter probably shows >_>)

Photo0436.jpg

I love my amp though. Might be slightly excessive just for use in the house, but I dunno. Plus two lots of Fast Fret cleaner, an electronic tuner, a slide, a capo, and some picks for good measure.

No serial number on the back of the headstock at all, nor on the base of the neck, it could well be a Squier neck - its all party of the enigma that this particular guitar is.

How you see it is how I bought it (well its a lot cleaner now), the shop I got it from bought it in off a semi-regular customer who had been given it by a friend (or some such bizarre tale), they gave him Ā£80 part-exchange based on not knowing exactly what it was (other than its definitely not all Fender by a long shot). He was happy to let me have it for Ā£100 with some new strings and a strap, so from that point of view I was more than happy.

Digging around for info has proven tricky and the following is what I know (based on the couple of times it been apart):

Body - Almost certainly Squier 20th aniv based on the neck plate and serial number (however that is very hard to make out). Most definitely not the original finish as I've not seen another 20th in this colour and my step father (who is a guitar teacher and luither by trade) has confirmed that its a nitro finish (which rules out it being a Squier as far as I'm aware).

Neck - Most likely Squier, no serial number at all. The logos certainly could have been applied after the fact. Its a single piece neck and well finished and again is a nitro finish.

Scratch plate, knobs and pick-up covers - All unknown and while I have seen Squiers/Fenders with silver PU covers and knobs, I've never seen a scratch plate like it on either. The original manufacturers sticker for the scratch guard is pretty much gone.

Pick-up - On reviewing my old stripdown pictures it would appear I was mistaken regarding the pickups being labelled as Fender, I can't see any identification on them from the pictures.

Bridge - Never had it fully out of the guitar, the saddles however are all Fender stamped.

Here are some pictures from the last stripdown:

Any help with working out (if possible) any part of its origin would be great, not that it will change my love of this particular guitar which still remains pretty much my go to guitar (closely followed by my Dot), this discussion has just reopened my interest in knowing more about it.

Why not contact a specialist about it? There's plenty out there and I'm sure they'd be more than glad to help you find out about it. šŸ‘

I've been considering modding my ML-1 for a while, I've been searching on other forums and I now really want to do this to do it. You can see the current finish on the previous page but here's what I'm going for.

Seriously considering selling my Pacifica and Explorer to get enough money to buy a Epi Les Paul Custom. I reckon that about Ā£170 for the Explorer and Ā£150 for the Pacifica is reasonable enough, which would leave me with Ā£320. Good idea?
