I've never died in a dream. I've fallen quite a few times and as I am about to hit the floor I wake and have a sort of body wide spasm. Then I go back to sleep feeling like right fool.

I haven't died either however I have happened to kill someone I disliked back at school. Back to myself, erm, Baseball to the head a couple of days back..

I remember being chased by a crazy motorcycle gang with machine guns and rocket launchers before driving a Mitsubishi Fuso off the Hoover Dam while doing it with a hot redhead. I'm pretty sure I would've died in that one, but I can't remember if I woke up because of that or because I got off just in time.

LOL! Greatest post in GTP history!!!

i've died in numerous dreams....well the ones I remember, anyways. Like a reoccuring one that generally starts out as some random peaceful driving to a nice park, in the fall. Heading over to a grassy gnoll, and laying down a blanket for a stereotypical picnic, with my barefooted crush ( she's always barefooted for some reason...?) So's we start grubbin' and b.s.'n, and a rabid dog, or a zombie comes along & attacks me. It eats my neck, and I die.

Then the said evildoer circles the picnic site, and is prepping to kill Marissa, the said crush from earlier. i then revive as a zombie. Not a bad one, 'cuz I always destroy the badguy savagely, and save her life. But I never get the girl in the end, 'cuz I'm dead. She always looks at me in the eyes, like she wants to be with me, but she knows she can't, or she's scared of me or something. (or at least that's what I think
is going on...)

So, by this time, I'm fighting off a horde of bad-zombie-dudes, so's she can get away....and i eventually really die. (dismembered & stuff) She gets away safely in the car we drove there in. Then I wake up.

Haha. Once for me. I had a dream I was in NY with buddies and we went to the ghetto in Harlem. I wanted to go say hi to a rapper called 40 Cal, and well, I got there, his boys weren't happy, and I got shot. I woke up freaking out and stuff. But after I realized how stupid that was, I was laughing my ass of the whole morning.

 Yeaaaah.... Right.

I've died in dreams, I was once being chased by those dogs that the police use in Jet Set Radio Future, If anyone knows South Ketchum Avenue in Amityville, I was being chased down that street, and I ran into someones back yard, and I jumped into the river, but for some reason, I couldn't swim! :scared: Then I realized this: I didn't live in Amityville anymore! Woot. Sudden conciousness inside the dream, then, I started to think that I wasn't in the river drowning, but I was in a mansion surrounded by money... :sly: I won the dream.

Have you been to Hollywood? It's like frickin slummy. Harlem's a lot quieter and has bigger buildings, but the feeling is the same.

And I SO want to be able to control my dreams... EVERY time I wake up, I slap myself for not making it awesome, since I realize that most of it is impossible.

I had a weird dream that i think i died in. All I know is that i was at the soccer field then an enormous storm came so i jumped into my moms taurus, picked up my family, then quickly sped off. I was driving extremely fast down a narrow snowy road then realized that the taurus was a fwd. At that moment the back slid out on me and we flipped, then i woke up.

I also had an extremely weird dream the day before 9/11. My family and i were in the taurus driving home from the store and there were kids in the street so we slowed down. They kept yelling "do you see the planes" and when i looked up, there were 3-4 large airplanes flying overhead. As we reach my house the sky starts to turn dark and red and i can still see the planes flying overhead. I'm sitting at the front steps looking at the planes and start crying when i hear one of them start to dive very quickly. I was shouting something, then plane hit a house the top of the hill, about 5 or 6 houses over. From there everything went black so i assume a second plane took a dive at my house, instantly killing me.

As far as I can remember, no. I also seem to wake up right before I hit the ground or whatever. Or.....

Do you guys ever wake up with that "jolt", when you fall and hit the ground in a dream? It's pretty entertaining. I like ones when I fall off from the back of a bike. I can feel it coming, too. It gets a chuckle out of me sometimes when that happens, and I'm still like half asleep!

IF YOU DIE IN THE GAME YOU DIE FOR REAL
What the hell are you doing here!?

I've had that happen before, but not falling off a bike. More like I was about to go into the free falling dream, but not all the way so I wake up with a "jolt", or I get the feeling I'm falling off/through the bed and I wake up with a "jolt".

Mine's usually just walking or something, and then I wake up and plunge my foot into nowhere.. even happens sometimes when I'm still (semi) conscious--'studying', watching TV, etc.

Almost. I wake up right before that happens.
But I have woken up with a start when those dreams happen.

If it's a nightmare i tend to have a jolt. I had a dream, like a lot of people do, of falling off of a large building. The whole time i felt like i was actually falling and right at the point of impact i hit the floor because i was falling off my bed.

This leads me to the point that how can a dream seem so long in such a short amount of time. Last year at my school it became a trend to purposely pass out. All of the people i talked to afterwards said they had an enormously long dream, though they had only been out for a few seconds. How could this be? One thing that can be assumed from this is that my dream of falling occurred in the few seconds i was actually falling off of my bed. *sigh* the human mind is so weird.

Usually it's the total opposite here. A dream which seems only to be 5 minutes long I've been asleep for at least a couple of hours. When I'm in *controll* of my dream, I usually try and stay in the dream as long as possible because I conscoiusly know that time will pass quicker. It must be really weird to have it the other way around. But since you were purposly fainting, I wouldn't be surprised...

I used get that a lot, but it would happen only when I was falling asleep, and lying on my back. Also, it would always be when I was just lying down and resting in the afternoon, and not particularly intending to fall asleep.

I have blacked out in dreams before, although I don't know if they led to fatalities. The most recent one was me at a store during a robbery where the thief was actually some kind of ninja assassin. He kept jumping all over the place and throwing knives at me as I tried to run out of the building. I remember getting incapacitated and then having knives thrown into me until I blacked out and woke up with my heart racing.

'Blacking' out seems more like what it is to die, isn't it?

We don't know what it is like to die. We can only imagine that what happened (because we 'woke' up) that we 'died' (or blacked out - shifted perspective, if you may) in the dream.

Is this a dream, too? Will we 'wake' up?

I had a dream where a rattlesnake was in my house and he striked and aimed at my heart. As soon as he got ready to sank his teeth in, I woke up. I woke up in the middle of the night, and trust me, I didn't go back to sleep that night.

I've had some weird ones. Can't remember most of them which is odd because I can clearly remember some dreams I had as young as 4 years old.

If I'm not dreaming . . . this is not a thread about lucid dreams, nor a thread that's a dream journal, but a discussion about 'Death in Dreaming'. Good Topic, Pako.

With that in mind here's one of mine. (Dream about Death.)

I dreamt of suddenly coming awake in a beautiful meadow - a lush carpet of green dotted with hundreds of small yellow flowers. As I lay there for a moment (not lucidly knowing I was in a dream) I was a bit confused and wondered where I was and how I got there. The place was beautiful, shimmering, and suddenly I saw one of my younger brothers running towards me, and he came up to me with a huge grin on his face, prancing around and waiting for me to get up from where I lay.
I stood up then a little bit shaky, then suddenly realised, that something was wrong - that this couldn't be real - because he was already dead. In fact he looked a little younger (maybe 14-16) than when he actually passed (21).
'I'm dreaming,' I told him. 'This can't be real. You're dead.'
'No,' he said, totally in that familiar mischievous way he would say ''No".
'No,' he said, 'You're dead. You are the one who is dead.'
At that, I woke up. It was a huge shock. I lay in bed stunned for a long while - his presence was so palpable in the 'dream'.
He had also appeared in the image of the age when we used to spend a lot of time together (after which I was too grown up and got involved with other stuff, and he had grown up and was employed, himself.)

Yes, I have.

I was murdered, actually. It sounds really weird when I think about it but I was stabbed through the head with a sharp and jagged metal pole.

The strange thing about it was that I could feel it. It was one of the most excrutiating pains that I've ever felt. It lasted for what felt like ages and ages until I finally woke up, sweating and breathless. I was talking to a friend about it and said it could have been sleep paralysis, but I've never read too much into that.

Do you guys ever wake up with that "jolt", when you fall and hit the ground in a dream?

Usually when you wake up with a jolt, or you get the feeling you're falling, (almost always happens when you're sleeping), is because your heart rate has lowered to a certain point that the body recognises this so gives you a sudden boost of energy which wakes you up, to ensure that it doesn't fall any lower, which could be fatal.

I actually had a dream a few days ago where my GF cheated on me in university. I went to visit her, and heard a creaking bed and her saying "shhh". I hung myself in front of her door with a note on the ground saying "I knew I wasn't good enough" before she got her clothes on and open the door while the dude managed to escape through the window.

The thing is.... my GF and I are insanely loyal to eachother, and in reality, it wouldn't happen..

They have computers in communist countries?

I remember having a dream when I was 6 about being kidnapped by a guy in a green mask. I screamed really loud and he turned around with bloodshot eyes, put a big a** gun to my head and shot. I guess I actually screamed in real life because my mother came running to me and said "Are you OK?!" and "Do you need anything?!"

I also remember seeing a whole series on YouTube of a CoD player Drift0r who had a really crazy and long dream.

Slightly long narrative, but this is one of three times I've died in a dream.

:::::::

I was walking down the street of a big city, humming "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". I noticed a girl walking down the street, and she looked as if she was deeply hurting inside.
I walked over to her, and asked if she was alright. She responded with a shake of the head. I asked if she needed anything, and she just stuck out her hand.
The moment I took her hand in mine, I felt a sharp sting in my palm, and blacked out.

I awoke to a harsh light shining in my face, being tied up and gagged, and a man saying, "He's awake. Should we start?"
Someone else replied in the affirmative.
"Alright..."

Then the chainsaw noise started up, and the bulky dude just went straight for my head. I woke up in a jump, and couldn't sleep the rest of the night.

:::

Quite a few of the details are missing from my memories, I know the girl had a name along with the street and city. Will post the 2 others tomorrow.

I've had dreams like that since I was a kid. :scared:

I've had a couple of dreams where that happened which were both set in the same car park near where I live. I was walking across it in the first one I had years ago, and I was feeling extremely anxious and concerned for my well-being due to a group of suspicious-looking men. Then one guy came up and drove a screwdriver into my chest. I felt like I had the wind knocked out of me, but I woke up as I blacked out.

The second dream was a few months ago and no more than 20 yards from where I was targeted the first time. I was in the drivers seat of an American car of some sort from the 1960s, and another car came past and shot at me. I just remember the glass breaking and everything looking blurred as I slumped down into the foot well.

I've had dreams like that since I was a kid. :scared:

I get hypnic jerks occasionally when I'm about 10-20 minutes into my sleep. Usually it's just one of my legs kicking.

I generally wake up just before getting killed, though I distinctly remember one dream where I got killed by someone with time crisis pistols and everything went white for a moment, then I woke up. I probably don't remember any other dream where I die and keep dreaming since I would forget it, I even forget most of the other ones unless I tell them to other people or write them down. I generally forget my dream within hours of having it, sometimes even minutes, they may be very detailed sometimes but those details get lost the second I wake up. I envy those that can vividly remember their dreams
