Last week's winner, franz, provides the theme:

This is a focal length competition. I expect zoom in side would
be using more than 50mm for the focal length setting, and for
zoom out side would be setting the focal length between 14mm
- 28mm. Technically, zoom out pictures should have fish-eye
effect, and zoom in will not have any distortion because
of narrow angle. Have fun!

Any. Photo Travel Allowed.

There will be two polls at the beginning of every week.
Each poll will have a top ten for that "competitor".
These polls will last for five days.
A final poll containing the winners from both polls will last 2 days.
You must post your final entry in red letters, ex. “Final Entry”.
Previews may be used, but may be no bigger than 300*400 pixels.
You may have two HM's if a preview image is not used.
You may change your Final Entry once (make it clear you did).
Edit out your original entry, or make it clear it is no longer "Final".
Do not use an entry from a previous competition.
Only one entry may be submitted, and it must be uploaded using Imageshack.
Photo-editing adjustments allowed:

Brightness/Contrast/Levels
Colour/Saturation adjustments
Cropping/Resizing
Blur/Sharpen adjustments
Smoothing/Smudging adjustments
Dodge/Burn
Noise filters
Gradients
Add Text/Border
Clone Stamp (for watermark removal only)

Moglet, do you mind sharing your clean-up secrets with GTP? I'm dying to know how you get reflections like that.

I can't lose this chance of competing with that great photo Mog! So I have to use one of my best rockets hehe. Hope Tangled and Franz will enter too to get more fun :D

Final entry - Zoomed out :)

GREAT SHOTS GUYS!!!
Alex...Franz can´t enter, he have picked the theme.

 I wish I can join you guys
Looks like nobody wants to enter the zoom out side anymore
mog and alex are gods with full of tricks 👍

GOOD LORD! Both shots are so well done...man Im not sure I even want to get involved.:nervous: I should have worked more on my 2.0 skills...because Im outmatched...and have been for quite sometime.

Hope Tangled and Franz will enter too to get more fun :D

I'll enter just for you alex. :D

I have a shot I can use for this, haven't finished it yet though. It's not going to be in the Zoomed out side, thats for sure.
Stunning shots from both of you, I love the S2000 too Mog. You sure made a impressive shot of it.

Zooming in...

Ford GT @ Nürburgring

Full zoom, around 640mm.

I did four laps of the 'ring in a high-spec Family cup, but all I got were snapshots. And with 2.0 rules, I suck at this. :D Ah well, stand it up and let it fall!

[smeagol] Leave now, and never come back![/smeagol]

Seriously, are you on drugs as of lately? If you continue to bring this kind of work, I'll never stand a chance against you in the Tourneys...(Like I already had :guilty:...)

Terrific piece of photography Mog! I love it!

I bet Mog wasn't intended to use it for this comp
he may just use his recent work to enter
but that cleanup at least takes 2-3 hours to finish

Been a while, since I last entered a competition.

 Thanks Bram, and no I'm not on some kind of drugs! As for the tourney, you'll always stand a chance cos' I keep getting knocked out really early. :(

Nope, this one was taken with the full intentions of entering it into this contest. I hadn't taken any GT4 shots for at least a week until I saw this contest and it was seeing an S2000 on some amazing looking rims in the work carpark that made me think of this car. The Lotus rims just seemed to match perfectly, even though that picture doesn't show off their dark tint. The photo took ages to get right though, there were loads of reject shots.

"Technically, zoom out pictures should have fish-eye

I´m thinking on this from quite some time...Zoom In pics are the ones that look "fish eye"...and Zoom Out pics are the ones that don´t have distortions.
At least thats what I think...and look to the banners that Slip made...look at the "IN" pic...looks like fish eye.

Is this right or not, because I don´t know the side I should post my shot.

I know the IN OUT images are confusing
actually both looks fish-eye to me but in different distance
so you guys should pay attention to the theme detail, not the images
Venari is spotted on for the Zoom IN side
however TVR's entry looks like Zoom OUT to me (not zoom in as he states)
since his entry looks wide angle with some distortion at those highrise buildings

At first I thought my entry was zoomed out, and then someone as submitted a shot, which said zoomed in, which was at a distance, which made me change my mind. However thanks for reminding me franz.

No problem TVR 👍
I start to think it is a bad theme
since zoom in shots are boring unless you are really good at lighting and background choice
while zoom out shots can be cool no matter how you shoot
too bad most of the talented artists are gone to zoom out already :indiff:

Also a lot of the really close zoomed in shots need a lot of clean up as well if they are to work.

Well .. if you look at Mog's and Alex's entry for 2.0 comp, both are good entries for zoom in side. More close up means more clean up, but focal length only plays the part of image distortion or wide angle, so zoom in shot only needs minor clean up in some occasions ;)

Please disregard this post, I misread what franz said.

Franz I think it is a very good theme, but maybe the of it wording is confusing to some. I think what you are after for 'Zoomed In' is tight focus shots from a long distance, and for 'Zoomed Out' wide angle shots that are close up?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I would take your meaning of 'In' to be something like this shot? That is, a high focal length (in this case 300) and the camera position moved to make the subject fill the frame.

I think so Brock 👍

Anyways I'd have entered the Tommy Kaira here, it'd have been a great idea, but it was needed to the other comp. The problem is not the theme I guess hehe.

Salu2.alexwrc

You're right Brock 👍 but it doesn't matter how you use the zoom-in or zoom-out. Let say you want to use 300mm focal length, you can capture the car like Brock's Supra photo or like Venari's GT. In other word, you have lots of freedom how you compose your photo. For zoom-out, it isn't necessary to get your car fill in most of the screen (like Moglet's entry), you can create something like wide angle panoramic scenery. I hope you guys understand me this time :P

Hey, I might just get something up for this one.

PS2 broken for good (had about 600 cars on the memory card game save), had to restart GT4 from scratch... on my brand new PS3!!!!!
