September 2009 and earlier
- Doubtful that PD will release GT5 before GT Mobile
October 2009
- GT Mobile release, doubtful PD will release 2 games in the same month and have them compete for sales
March 2010
- God of War III releases this month, doubt Sony will let two of it's biggest games launch in the same month
June 2010
If the game is as finished as KY says, and can be released at any time, June 2010 sounds too far off

That leaves us with 6 months in which the game could be released

November 2009
- possible, according to Amar's 12 months hint
December 2009
January 2010
February 2010
April 2010
- possible, according to Amar's 12 months hint
May 2010

Help me pinpoint a month by giving release dates of other big games that may make PD release the game a different month, or anything else that may help exclude or

October 2009 - GT for PSP
End of November/beginning of December 2009 - GT5 Japan
March/April 2010 - GT NA/Europe/AUS

October 2009 - GT for PSP
End of November/beginning of December 2009 - GT5 Japan
March/April 2010 - GT NA/Europe/AUS

If they are just polishing the game, then we might be looking at a simultaneous worldwide release. Here's hoping

They could release the game a bit less polished in Japan first, for example without online functionality like they did it with MotorStorm. GT4 PAL had almost 30 more cars iirc (dont quote me on it) and look at GT5 Prologue.

It would really be cool if we could make a contest out of this one. You know everybody chip in a couple dollars, euros whatever and who ever is closest to the actual release date wins the pot.

I guess GTP would propably frown on that.

Anyway, just a thought. :)

Voted december 2009, as when looking at sonys releases it seems the best spot for it, this would really give sony a quite big period of top games releasing within months of eachother, now when i think of it late 2009 early 2010 could get pricy. :)

I would say Nov '09 because I think that would be the best time to build up momentum for the holiday season. It would give people time to get it and play it, then praise it for the masses who are debating whether to get it for someone for the holidays. It's because of this that I think Dec '09 is too late.

And I don't know why people think March of 2010, seeing as there's nothing going on at all in that time. It's the middle of the first half, so too far from summer gaming, and not close enough for those who get money from the holidays.

So KY just said they could release GT5 at anytime! Did that not just, loose some GT Mobile sales? I
really believe it will be here before Christmas 09!

Well if they DO read these forums they'd know how we feel about further delays ;)

Sadly I don't think we'll see it until May/June 2010 for a summer release or October/November 2010 for a holiday release. It's also GT and it's bound to have a delay or two with the release date. I would be ecstatic if it came out November of this year, but I don't think I'm going to hold my breath, but here's to at least hoping !

They might actually try to do it sometime around forza3 which is October. So Im guessing November, or a GT5 PS3slim bundle.

Remember GT4 was released toward the beginning of the year, March or April, I think.

Just like GT5P.

EDIT: GT4 came February here i think.... 9th February or something (got it 1 day earlier yey).

You're right, I didn't really think of that. However, I wish we had access to monthly sales data to see where they get their most sales. I'm sure there's a spike at the beginning, but it probably died down until the summer.

I think it would be the best to release it before FM3,I think August-September would be nice... but I voted for November...

Because Kaz releases when he wants and the usual logical stratigies are not always a priority.

This is the other reason I believe it will be March 2010. (although I hope I'm wrong) The interactive periphials were announced for release at that time, so if GT5 was that close to being ready, why would they not announce it.

Also SONY pushed the GT PSP ahead of the PS3 GT5 and I think GT5 fans are on them now like the hounds of Baskerville so they are trying to keep us at bay with this spit and polish routine.

BTW Greetings to you fellow Virginian. :)

If it was going to be release that early don't you think they would have said it during their E3 presentation? And had preproduction games up and running for the press? Yes it would be great but I would think PD would have shown more of the game if it was that complete, especially to draw attention away from Forza.

Just curious. Do you guys think KY is lying when he says they haven't decided the release date yet? I don't, and that would mean Amar's post is no hint anymore. :nervous:

-> June '10. At least if its anything earlier, I would be surprised.

-> Plus, since I've been waiting this long; I can wait for two more years if I have to.

I think November / December 2009 (voted November).

Just a thought...... the Tokyo Games Show is at the end of September. Would that not be a good time announce GT5 in time for the xmas holidays?

And I guess I'm an optimist seeing as I'm used to being out of school for the summer and getting games either then or at the holiday season. I forget that a lot of the GT audience is a bit older now and Kaz can schedule releases whenever he needs.

looking at PD background a release in japan in december seems like the best bet for your money. with a Eu/NA release around febuary/march

From everything we've heard from KY the game is pretty much complete

But he's not giving us a release date

I have a big hunch that the release date is up to Sony, and not PD or KY

So it comes down to whether Sony wants GT5 to boost holiday sales or whether they want it to keep PS3 sales going through the always slow Q1 of 2009

My guess is they will go for Holiday season. December is too close to Christmas, and not enough time for a GT5 bundle to be effective before the holiday season ends. There will be a GT5 bundle, no question at all.

So I voted November 2009. Early november to be more exact.

If not then Sony decided that they need GT5 for slow first quarter after the holiday season. If so I expect a April 2009 release date

But the release dates of Uncharted 2, MAG, Heavey Rain, pocket racers or whatever its called, will be crucial to when Sony decides to release the game.

If MAG, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain etc come out in October or earlier then that leaves a window for GT5 to be released DNovember/December 2009.

Once we get the date for the other AAA titles coming out for PS3 this holiday season we should be able to narrow down GT5's release date to one or two months.

A worldwide release shouldnt be a problem if the game is as far along as KY says it is. also, amar's winds say it will be worldwide because the game is so far along

I think you may be on to something.
Since SONY's E3 conference I've been trying to figure out, if the game is almost ready, why would'nt they give us a release date.

If SONY is playing the release like an ace in the hole, that could explain why.
If KY wants to polish on it a few more months and it would be ready this fall, that may clash with some of the other games you mentioned.

Since GT5 is such a heavy hitter, some of the other game publishers may have told SONY they don't want to have to compete with the GT5 release this fall and during the Holidays.

That puts it sometime 1st quarter 2010 and KY will take all the time he can get to keep working on it, so like GT4, its propably March-April 2010.

Another possible theory anyway.

well seeing as KY may be in charge of PD but he is also a board member of sony computer entertainment his games are more likely to be released when it is best for the system. because hes not only need to worry about the success of his game but hes also needs to worry about the success of SCE. that is another major thing people must keep in mind when the release of the game will come. it seems like alot of people tend to forget that fact and just complain about GT5 getting pushed back by sony. just remember guys KY is part of Sony. not sure if this is really in the right place but it seems good enough to post it here. but just because a game is far along in production dosnt necessarily mean the translation is done. im sure translating it for the EU release is what will be most time consuming seeing as the several different languages needed for the region. guess we will have to ait and see.

Why in the mind of a great part of GTPlanet users always GT gets delayed by others games sales health ?

GT aren't the Sony's best-seller franchise for nothing... why others games can't get delayed in order of GT5 ? :]
