Dutch is a 4-year-old American Allaunt, who is a registered service dog and an important part of his owners life. Dutch has never shown any aggressive behavior before or after the incident and is a certified AKC Canine Good Citizen.

In a nutshell, his owner left him with the previous owner as he [the current owner] had to run some errands, only to come to his dog been beaten with a metal pole.

The owner admitted to punching, kicking, and hitting Dutch with a metal pole, and because Dutch bit the previous owner in an attempt to save his life, the court has now order for Dutch to be put down on Valentines day.

It honestly is a cruel, twisted story and my heart goes out to the current owner.

There is a online petition on going at the moment, and the target is 100k signed. They are half way there, but need more help!

It doesn't cost nothing to be nice, and fundamental turn around what could be the death of an honest, loyal, tender-loving service dog.

Dutch's full story is included on the petition website.

Please share the link, and help save this innocent dog!

Thank you!

It was a woman, and not that I know of... If only eh?

Thanks for sharing, 👍

This is a load of bull:censored:. The statement in the original piece and the statement in the update don't even match.

This is why the human civilization will fall.

Someone beats a dog, dog defends it self, dog gets killed
Stupid tourist ignores croc signs, gets killed by croc, croc gets killed.

What ever happened to Darwinian law.

Whoever that previous owner is deserves to be castrated and thrown into a pool with his limbs chained together so he can't move. That dog in no way deserves to die, and if they actually end up putting it down then I've given up hope on our human race.

Please keep us updated. Signed and shared.

Signed for the good deed of the day.

Most animals are more worthy of life around here than some humans, that's the way it goes with humanity being messed up.

What a great story. Owners posts the most sad looking picture of his dog on the internet with a petition to save his life, despite not only being in a dog fight but also attacking a woman.

I also love the bit where someone says that the human should be killed, rather than the dog, and the gutless threat that the people that would euthanize the dog will be killed as well. Good entertainment! I love this thread!

You obviously lack either the ability to read, or all humanity. If you had either of those things then you'd realize that the dog is in no way at fault in this situation and the humans are the ones being unreasonable in trying to euthanize this dog.

And nice job bumping a two month old thread for a post that was frankly useless and will do nothing but cause tensions.

Jeez, I didn't know someone couldn't express their opinion after a certain amount of time has passed.

Also, the story in the petition may not be entirely true.

Opinions which ignore the apparent story of what happened and are aimed to cause anger of others should be welcome. Yeah. Because it's really contributing to this dog being saved (which is the topic of the thread) when somebody posts stuff like he did.

However, what you posted is very interesting. It's hard to know if he did get beat now, but either way I don't know if euthanization is fair. If we can't determine whether or not he was provoked, how can we come to the conclusion that it was an unprovoked act by the dog?

In this situation, considering the dog has no history of being vicious and since there is inconclusive evidence, I can't see the euthanization of this dog being justified.

Signed. Dumb b:censored:. I hope she gets hit with a steel pole on the back of her head. I have a dog and I woud never ever ever let Benjy get hurt.

What are you talking about, like the opinion you shared "Whoever that previous owner is deserves to be castrated and thrown into a pool with his limbs chained together so he can't move." which ignores the true story and certainly can cause anger? You also pretty much called him stupid and inhumane, he wasn't even saying the dog should necessarily be put down just that it's crazy that people talk about inflicting harm and putting down a human. To be honest I think an apology towards DEATHSARTHE would be nice.

What I posted is very, very interesting because it means the story in the petition is a crock of **** and everyone is overreacting.

Wasn't aware you were the arbiter of what constitutes legitimate discussion in the first place. Dog owners never believe their dog is capable of harming anyone, and Deathsarthe had a point with his comment even if the petition in the OP wasn't biased as hell and based off of a bunch of half-truths.

Guess you didn't read the article that casey_2005 provided then. That "steel rod" wasn't what the petition would have you believe. From the news article:
She hit the dog once with a light-weight tiki torch pole, which immediately bent and was discarded.

As usual there are two sides to every story. But some people's minds are already made up and don't want to be confused by facts.

...but then we don't have all the facts.

And we likely never will. It's unfortunate and I also don't think putting the dog down is the right thing to do. I don't have an answer for the actions to take when a pet bites a human but I can't help but think it's rarely the pets fault, or at least the situations can often be avoided.

How many dogs have never done harm to anyone (according to their owner), would never harm anyone (according to their owner) and have been perfectly trained (according to their owner) only to attack someone?

Now, I wouldn't like to see the dog put down over something like this, because, well, I do believe that animals, unlike humans, are much more capable of being turned around with proper training after such an incident - it's just that nobody likes to bother with doing so.

But what I actually do find more shocking are the reactions towards the victim of the supposed dog attack. I feel bad about myself for wishing similar things upon someone who murders a child in front of the mother's eyes, and some folks in here would like to drown someone over beating a dog? Now, that's some interesting morale, alright.
