ilI said 450 cars because I think that they hide a bit of content from us, it's just my hypothesis. then as for the tracks, I am sending you a screenshot showing that new traces will be added at launch. [wait for the screenshot]

look at the paths there are 6, but the red dots suggest more

Not looking very good. But it's not a surprise with PD. Their priorities will always be graphics and gimmicks.

I had cautious optimism for this game, but it's starting to give out that same weird mix of it being amazing and lackluster at the same time. It's definitely Gran Turismo.
I thought if they'd announce huge number of cars, people'd complain about those large numbers like being 'unnecessary'? Based on GT5/6 (I know there's majority standard cars... but talking about the duplicates of which ppl honestly exaggerate the hell out of it) and FM7.
Serious question, why is the number of cars so important? 400 cars driven for just 1 hour on 30 tracks takes 500 days and that is before you have earned the credit to get them. If you just want to try the cars that wasn't part of Gtsport it will take 100 days.
Because there are those lacking important cars like Chiron or C8.
Imho the important part is that the cars in the game needs to be interesting in their own way. Rather have 400 cars with 25 i desire than 800 with none I care about.
And a car being interesting or not is an inherently subjective topic. So sorry, it shouldn't be about cars that are interesting to you alone, other fans be damned. There are those who find everyday cars interesting and fun to race for instance even if you likely don't.Like, really, I wanted that early-10s RX-8 so badly. Now all we need is the return of the pre-facelift Type S model that was a premium in the PS3 era.

I'm sure we'll have 450 cars at launch, not 428
Pbecause guys something they are hiding from us that's for sure, even in gran turismo sport they kept the gt League hidden from us, let me explain better, it seems to you that in almost two years of free updates how did they replicate a serious and well-built "career" mode, ditto the machines had inserted them because originally trusted they wanted to put them in gt7. now that Hockenheim and Silvertone arrive,we are all happy
Fbrother obviously we have to be a little optimistic, of course I'm super convinced but if I'm wrong the opinion remains, but on one thing I agree kaz painted this game as the best car collectibles, then go and see how many 428 cars are there .. with future updates we will reach 540 in total, in my opinion
guys you are right, but if you want I can send you the article on Hockenheim and silverstone .. or trust me? do you also want gsw and apricots Hill? will come, because in January 2022 I read an article 91 tracks and now in the last trailer there are 97?
and I also have demonstrations that new tracks will be added, via the latest state of play

GRF
Coudln't agree more! Alongside with that, I'm hoping PD would bring back some of those unique Premium cars that were featured in GT5 and GT6, such as Isuzu 4200R, Ferrari F430 SP1 and Cizeta V16T.

They also gotta give a premium treatment for Dome ZERO and also Mitsubishi HSR II to compliment with the 4200R (fun fact: Both HSR and 4200R were unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in '89).
Kaz said the Premiums in GT5 were next gen quality, surely they should have been in GT Sport and GT7. Seems like a waste if they didn't put them in.

I agree on the Gr.B Yaris making more sense than a GT86, but disagree on deleting the GT86. It's pointless to spend time modelling one car to replace another, time spent modelling new cars should be adding to the list, not taking things away regardless if you like it or not. The GT86 is already here, taking it out now is basically throwing countless hours of work away and is unfair to the people that do like it for the fun, "what if" novelty.

To be fair on this one, all of the VGT cars in Gr.1 are specced to be the same performance as LMP1s. I'm honestly more annoyed at Gr.C cars being in the same category.

If I were to guess, it's probably for people that are really into simulating real racing, they prefer to only use cars that actually were used in actual racing versus cars that well...haven't. They break that immersion factor when on the grid, especially when it's cars like the VGT cars as some of them go straight into science fiction or fantasy versus being something believable. Another thing is that people don't like modelling time spent on these cars that could've been spent on something that exists in real life.

With that said, I personally enjoy concept cars in racing games as they can be quite fun for games and not everything should be serious. That and another merit of concept cars in racing games is being able to explore that "what if" factor, cars that otherwise not exist due to limitations in reality whether it's scientific factors, money being an issue preventing it from being put into production, or simply not being able to exist due to restrictions put in place by governments.

I think there's a place for them to continue in GT, though I would repurpose some of them for their own events or something.
I get the criticism of vgt and the spaceship cars but I personally enjoy concept cars due to them being what if and pushing the boundaries.

Also dont mind concept cars like the Audi Lemans Quattro i know we have the Audi R8 both the V8 and V10 but the Lemans quattro is just so cool. How about the Audi R8 V12 TDI concept that would be really to cool to see a V12 powered diesel supercar in a game like Gran Turismo.

Concept cars and their production variants are really different from each other. Alfa Romeo Brera concept is pretty cool compared to the production model. Lets not forget some cool concept cars that never made it to production like the Ford GT90, Ford Indigo, Lamborghini Cala, Bmw Nazca C2, Bmw Nazca M12, Alfa Romeo Schighera, Cadillac Cien man to be honest I can go on and on.

Are you sure the Civic Type R is a 1999 (there is a 1998 model in GT Sport and GT7 already, and the premium version from GT6 was a 1997 model)

Also the DeLorean has neither been confirmed as the Series 2 variant from 2004 or the DMC-12 from the 1980s.

The Corvette C3 is now in coupe and convertible form how did you work out which model the coupe is?

I've seen no-one mention about the F40 and F50, which are both in a GT7 video

Also, I hope to see more modified additions like the Amuse S2000 in GT Sport, such a great car.

Both in GT Sport, so how are they new...?

Complaints already about car content, can you honestly say you use all of the car available in the game.

No, and it's not expected that you will. The point is to add enough variety that everyone is happy. Some people will only drive modern sports cars. Some people will spend most of their time with 90s Japanese cars. Some people will love driving the pre-war cars, others will have no interest in them.

If you have 10 cars in a game, the chances of everyone finding something they really like is slim. If you have 400, it's more likely. If you have 700, it's even more likely.

They've simply made a mistake. For a start it's confirmed there are 34 locations, not 30. So that's wrong. As for mentioning Silverstone and Hockenheimring where could they have got it from? They clearly say they attended the same media event everyone else did a couple of days before the State Of Play, and nobody else has mentioned those tracks. They've not played it themselves, it's "hands off". Not to mention we already know for 100% certainty what 33 of them are, and pretty good indication of the 34th.

They probably just picked a list of real world tracks from google because they weren't familiar with them all.

It wouldn't be the first time either. I remember Red Bull published an article years ago openly stating that Pikes Peak was in Gran Turismo 5. It wasn't and still hasn't appeared 12 years later. Then I seem to recall one article around launch time of GT Sport mentioning that Laguna Seca was in the game. It wasn't, and didn't come for another two years, so there was no way they actually knew about it. Just another mistake.

EDIT: Also they claim 11 fictional and 19 real. That just doesn't work. We already know about 16 fictional locations and only 17 real world for the 33. Even if you discount 3 fictional tracks to get to their 30 number, that's still 13, not 11.

Their numbers are wrong, the specifics are certainly wrong as well.

I'm just gonna say it loud and clear here.

As much as it is disappointing that my expectations for the returning ones (e.g. LFA, XJ220, Autozam, Cappuccino, etc.) and the new ones (e.g. 959, 512S, Chiron, P1, 918, etc.) aren't/haven't met, I'm actually pretty optimistic overall regarding the launch selections, IMO it's quite solid, despite not everybody being satisfied.

Since it has been raining all day here, I tried to compile a list of cars based on the cars on GT7's list that I see as filler material. When possible I tried to remain as close as possible to the original car on GT7's list. In some cases it was not possible or I had not enough inspiration to put another car on the list. I also tried to avoid making a wishlist out of it, allthough some of the cars on this list would also be on my wishlist. The only point that I want to make with this list is that PD could have, in some cases, quite easily transformed these filler cars into something more desirable or appealing to more people. The same can be done with other cars like the Tesla Model S. PD has the base model, so why not update it to a 2021 Plaid version? In some cases when it was a fantasy car made by PD, I tried to replace it with a concept car made by the car brand.

I do not want to start a new discussion if these cars deserve to be, or not to be, seen as filler car, I made this list mainly for fun but also because I'm disappointed and I wanted to see what could have been possible...

GT7 launch car count number is 428, If I'm not mistaken?
It has never been definitively stated. We've had "More than 400", "Over 400", "420+", and "more than 420". The "428" figure comes from a brief glimpse of the number on an in-game screen, which I think was a livery editor screen.

Also we literally mentioned that in the article this is the thread for:

We’ve been hearing about GT7’s launch day car list for a little while, with the most recent figure being 428 cars — as shown in a Behind the Scenes video on an in-game screen.
Which kinda highlights the fact you haven't read it.
I honestly do not think that internet sites would invent ******** to make more views
Well of course they do. The fact you've posted a link to a site doing just that - and it attended the exact same media preview and Q&A that everyone else did, and also hasn't played the game, so it doesn't have any extra info that everyone else has missed - is pretty strong evidence for it.

I mean, okay, we can be kind and say they've grossly misunderstood something, but Silverstone and Hockenheim were simply not part of any video or image or text or spoken word that was in the media preview or Q&A. They've come from somewhere, but it's not from Sony/PD and only Gamereactor.eu mentions them, which means it's come from Gamereactor.eu.

What exactly is the goal with this? You keep posting replies to yourself with cars that aren't in GT7 and it's bizarre.

We have a Suggestions forum you can visit and "Like" cars that have already been suggested (and three more of the top 25 have been added to GT7, so there's decent evidence this might be used by PD) or suggest cars that haven't already been suggested, and we have myriad wishlist threads - including pre-GT Sport cars you'd like to see, all-new to GT cars you'd like to see, and probably a host of others - without needing to spam up other threads for no clear reason.
I've seen no-one mention about the F40 and F50, which are both in a GT7 video
And also GT Sport. Hence not new.

Some dates may be placeholders, however on precedent, the DeLorean and Corvette are the same car from previous GT games.

I'd have to look up the 400-car list to see why I went with a 1999 EK instead of a 1997, but it's Sunday so I'm not going to. If it turns out to be a 1997 later, I'll correct it, but it's ultimately not worth getting super hung-up on exact dates.

Edit: Mild brainwave which saves effort paid off, and it actually does look like the base and TC are 1997 cars 👍 Although I still can't be sure I'll make the change - and let's see if the sites that habitually lift our lists verbatim notice the change...

It was actually the Aqua, the Prius's little brother.
Both are in the game and the list, and the article.

There have been 428 cars for a while now, and PD is constantly scanning/creating more. It is common intuition that there could be 450 by release.
Common tuition to just make up a number for cars at launch with no evidence behind it ok thanks I understand the lack of thought processing and ability to think for yourself here 👍

"and pretty good indication of the 34th"

What's your thoughts?

Of they have been working on more which, as you say, is fairly inevitable, they will release them 5 per month, teased by Kaz Twitter account most likely.

Kaz said the Premiums in GT5 were next gen quality, surely they should have been in GT Sport and GT7. Seems like a waste if they didn't put them in.
We now know that's not really true, as many of them have noticeable imperfections, lower quality textures, etc. That's why GTS got such a small car count at launch.

I thought if they'd announce huge number of cars, people'd complain about those large numbers like being 'unnecessary'? Based on GT5/6 (I know there's majority standard cars... but talking about the duplicates of which ppl honestly exaggerate the hell out of it) and FM7.
No one would complain about the number of cars, if they announced the game with, let's say, 700 instead of 400ish cars. In GT5 and 6, the complaint wasn't about the amount of cars, but instead the disparity in quality, because Standard cars were added just for the sake of boosting the car count. The duplicates didn't help either, as they served to boost the count even more. Too many Miatas, Skylines, and so on.

In FM7 makes no sense, as the game as a great car list, not perfect, but great. I guess people complain because they think the amount cars hurts the rest of the game, somehow. If the car modeling is outsourced, it has no bearing on the rest of the dev team.
