High School

If they dont do it right kids what do you do? Thats right you do it yourself. Im a freshman and trust me if my dad told me to fetch a tool and brought him back something completely different. Well, he would slap me upside the head, give a speech about this is not that, tell me to go away, and then scream at me for leaving him to do all the work. What am i supposed to do? Not do what you told me to. People sometimes. We only get lunch for 20 minutes you luc......

I only get 20 minute lunches.....the alternate school has 30 minute lunches

^ I feel the same way, if I bring a wrong tool, my grandfather, my father and my mother will get upset because I should know. By the time you reach high school IMO you need some certain skill sets. You need to be able to do laundry, do dishes, cook something simple...from scratch (my dad's a chef so it's not hard for me) and be able to use and identify tools. Not knowing basic knowledge like this; you can only go so far before you need something like this. It's disgraceful to see someone who is so stuck up that if someone doesn't do it for them they get mad, then they get in trouble, then act like they did nothing wrong and start crying. I'm not saying emotion is bad, but getting in trouble because of arrogance and then to break down completely disgusts me. I just hope I didn't misunderstand the post.

Also, I have to type and memorize a two minute speech about a subject of our choice (I've chosen raising the speed limit to 75) by Thursday for English. Everybody I've asked so far is against it, but I imagine I can change minds if I mention the time saved by a higher speed limit that they could use for sleeping in.

So my English teacher asked around to see who was done with their speeches in class today, and called all of us who were done (or like me, very close to being done) to the back of the room where we waited our turn to read the speech to him and hear suggestions. I happened to be the last kid who could go thanks to time constraints, but luckily I got good feedback. During this time he challenged the class to finish their speeches by the end of the period, and our reward would be a pushed back due date. Everyone was done or at least claimed they were done at the end of the period, and now I don't have to speak until Monday.

I'm glad to know that some people have some decency, thank you. I've gotta calm down now.

My dad believes in hardwork, intelligence, leadership, etc. He always tells me that hes getting me ready for the real world. I told a dude that when hes living on the side of the street cause he doesnt care and gets everything handed to him you know what his reply was? "Im not going to be poor because my parents will always help me if i get in a tight situation." I laughed. Yes, i might be taking the traditional job choice route(doctor) but still i have to know how to do other stuff if that doesnt work out.

^ That seems to be the attitude of most kids in my school.

That kid in my group can luckily identify tools so I can have him grab me a tool from the toolbox of needed but just doesn't know how to use them.

Most people in my school generally don't care about anything. At all. If they die, they are like oh well. I was like you guys are stupid. At least I will always have a job.

Some kid in my tech class didn't know how to use a ratchet. I'm just wondering how the hell somebody doesn't understand how a ratchet works... He also had a socket which was four sizes to big. He's in my group to... :nervous:

Don't start me on ratchets. I punched myself in the face once after a ratchet slipped when I was trying to undo a really tight nut. That hurt.

 I've been there. Two weeks ago I was taking brake calipers of my dads one parts car and the ratchet slipped making me punch the inside of the fender. Fingers still haven't healed fully.

I hate when tools in general slip or when wrenches start to round off nuts, slip and then you whack your hand on something. I've also randomly walked into a tire, still on a car, while on a lift several times. That hurts your head.

I have a tendency to hit my head on wheels while the car is up on a lift. :dunce:

It's really annoying lol, though I don't do it nearly as much anymore. Still happens though XD. I guess that's better than walking into a lift arm though....haven't managed that one yet XD

How many lifts do your guy's sjop have? I have three 2 post's and one 4 post. We were supposed to get a new one installed but the school said no :(

No offense.

None taken. :P

 Yea, I learned to avoid it mostly but still do it occasionally. I also managed to whack my shoulder on the lift post at tech, that sucked.

And at work I was taking a wheel off of a car and it tilted towards me when I lifted it and smacked me in the face. That hurt.

I take it you used a normal pump jack? Lucky the car didn't roll over on you.

Oh haha that's what I thought at first. But then I changed it.

I was going to say that I usually put it around chest height to take it off and take it off slow so it doesn't fall. That had to hurt like hell. Tires/rims are not light objects.

That's too high, probably why it happened. It's much easier/better to pull it towards you instead of out and down, that way you have less of a chance of injury. That said I'm guilty of this as well. :D

Scheduling is coming up and I'm really divided on my class choices. I kind of want to take A.P. classes, but the A.P. class I'm in now is such a pain in the ass. I missed a lot of fun times over the summer because of homework, and same goes for the school year. Plus, it is absolutely maddening when I take a college level course but they never tell us how to apply our knowledge to real life. Isn't that the purpose of college?

My friends really don't want me to, but I have a feeling my parents will want me to. I won't be forced but strongly influenced by them.

Then there is the whole $2000-3000 savings per course that I can get in college. But is it worth throwing away my high school years, what are said by many to be the best of ones life?

Please help.

Looking back this was very harsh but at the time extremely funny.

When I was cycling into school, there was some random kid walking in the middle of the road so I went up quietly behind him and when I was a few feet from him I just rang my bell partly to scare the living **** out of him and partly to teach him to not walk in the middle of the road. Immature but funny.

So I had the French speaking exam today.

I said 'I am a fish' instead of 'I have a fish'.
