High School

I zoned out all the time in my college finance class I took this term because the instructor sucked. I didn't zone out in my economics class because the instructor was a great teacher, and my English class instructor ran a tight ship so I paid attention in that. I learned that I pay attention best when I either find the material interesting or the material relates to a large chunk of the final grade (such as an essay I had to write that was worth 25% of my final grade).

I can pay attention if it's something that interests me and I can understand. If it isn't either of those two... *whoosh* I'm lost.

A little unrelated, but I need to vent:

My teacher says that I write beautifully and gives me good grades. Bull:censored:. They're all awful and I turn in my work weeks late. I feel even worse when she has to say that they're good and give me a nice score, when I know that I didn't deserve the 96, the 99, or the 10/10. And even when I tell her I'm not a good student, she still keeps telling me that I am. Stop! Please! I know I'm not! That makes me feel so guilty.

I don't get the full or almost full points on late assignments at all, but I know that for my English class, I wrote an essay that I thought sucked and still got a 93% on it. Then proceeded to get a 95% and a 97% on the next two essays. You might just have very high expectations with your work.

I typically try have low expectations, but I just seem to be getting grades that I don't feel like I deserve.

Welp, it's 1:00 AM. I need to sleep.

I'm not a fan of English class at all. Throughout my entire life, I've liked math and science more than English or history. I honestly don't mind solving math problems; however, I would never pick up a book and start reading it for English class. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind reading a good book, but because the books we are forced to read in school are terrible, I can't stand reading them. It's not that I can't read. I can read perfectly fine. If the book I'm trying to read is very boring, I start to lose focus while reading and find myself having to re-read paragraphs constantly because I forget what I had just read. The only reason I take honors English is because I enjoy writing. If I disliked writing just as much as I dislike reading, I would have never taken an honors English class.

Had my US History II final today. Kinda tough, but I think I did fairly good.

Tomorrow's the English III final. 🤬 At least that's the last test for the school year.

History was one of my favorite subjects. I always did well in that.

I just hate my teacher because he's a bit creepy and makes jokes that are too soon. Learning about W. E. B. DuBois, he says "No, not like Sandusky."

My class has some pretty trashy kids, so I'm glad that none of them are laughing at his terrible jokes.

One of my History teachers would wisecrack if the time called for it, but he normally ran a tight ship. I wound up passing his class handily (and I was in his class for half a day since he was my Study Hall teacher and we had block scheduling at the time).

My history teacher accidentally called Theodore Roosevelt "Big Titty" Roosevelt , it became the running joke for our class.

Did he or she correct themselves or move right along like nothing happened?
No, he had stuck a piece of gum in his mouth right before he said it, when he said it he turned around to through out the wrapper and then turned back beat red when we all started laughing

Did the math provincial exam today. 2 more provincials, then I'm actually done until September, when it happens all over again.

Went to the high school today for a tour. Man. I feel like I'm going to get lost every single day.
My high school is pretty easy to navigate so I lucked out there. The hardest thing for me to learn was exactly which sections were on which side of the building.

I felt like that even more than I should have because the maps and floorplans the school gave us when we were moving into the high school were so terrible and confusing.

Don't let that ^ happen to you. Be calm, be cool, tell yourself you've been in the school long enough to know where everything's at, and watch the directional signs if you have absolutely have to, provided that the school has signs put up. ;)

Don't worry about being lost on your first day there. I guarantee you that there will be a BUNCH of other people that don't know where the hell they are going to. Don't be embarrassed.

There are always a bunch of confused people on the first day. It usually took me three days every year before I was comfortable with the rotation. Upperclassmen will typically help if you ask them for it.

I felt the same way when I visited back in 8th grade. It only took me a few weeks in the beginning of freshman year to understand exactly where everything was. Luckily, my school gave us a map to use to help us find our classes and it helped me out a lot.

I hated every minute of high school. It was bs I got bullied and picked on most my years till the very end they started to stop bullying me. I didn't really make any friends there. I wasn't smart never got top grades I either scraped a pass or failed miserably. But you know what the past is the past and I have bigger dreams for the future.

Got through the last of my testing! Officially a senior, glad that this year as finally ended, could have gone a lot better. Played some Basket ball with my friends the last day, than we all got together and drove home.

I've done 2 weeks of an "Introduction to College" class here on a college campus. I did the Middle College program so I'm taking my classes at the college campus at age 16, which is nice but are schedules really this lax compared to high school? It seems like I either enter early or exit early unlike in HS where it's enter and exit early. And I need to get my license; my house is 20 minutes away from the college, or ride the bus.

Also for any band geeks out there, is it wise that a marching band of about 80 has 30-40 freshmen? My freshmen class for matching band was like 10, and that was the bands worst year ever apparently. I'm slowly losing hope in the program, from my section that can't do simple, staple stuff, to the cocky and zealous leaders that drive me insane.
