High School

Homecoming week this week, so being a senior it's go big or go home with the themes of the day.

Today was opposite day, so what better for a 240lb, 6'2" guy to wear than his mother's brand new dress, leggings, and a pair of heels?

Also, I learned that one should know how to remove make up before applying it.

BRUH.

I approve.

(Though I didn't do that for homecoming...)

For the skit I'm playing Darth Vader (trilogy theme), and naturally it's the one character who twerks.

Our school has a Scottish theme, and each class has a character as a representative; this year's freshmen got Shrek, the sophomores have Merida from Brave, 2016 is the 12th highlander, and our class...

...we've got Scotch Tape. It's kinda... embarrassing. Dynamic, but embarrassing.

At least it isn't as bad as having male cheerleaders performing and a football scrimmage between the upper and lower classmen girls.

...that's actually what the dress was for, only it was a male flag routine.

(I might be slightly fabulous)

Oh lord what a day. The bus ride to the Votech school was good, but it took a turn for the worst on the way back to the high school. We pulled up alongside an 18 wheeler truck at a stoplight. Someone had some smokeless tobacco and went to spit it out at the trailer of the truck. He missed the trailer but got all of the window. Then he tried again, and got the trailer this time. The truck driver got pissed. He cut off the second bus and tailgated us for a few miles. We were all pretty sure that the truck was either going to follow us or report the bus. As far as we know, nothing beyond what I already said was done.

Then there were students punching, hitting and even choking each other, but not in a serious manner. We had to have the police officer, who is assigned as a resource officer for the high school, get involved. Long story short, there won't be any hesitation at all to suspend us and place us under arrest for swearing, having tobacco, acting like fools, etc.

Luckily I'm pretty much completely safe given how unlike the other people I am.
Oh wow. That's unheard of here. Maybe that's why we have brand new buses!?! ;)
If any student representing our district was doing that they'd get thrown off the bus, picked up by transportation employees, go to district (that's probably the worst thing you can do besides being expelled), and would never go on another field-trip ever again. We don't have a resource officer travel with us, however, we do have 3 in each building on campus.

Our resource officer stays at the school, but I have a bad feeling that after today, we'll be having a way for us to be monitored.

EDIT:
Oh wow. I didn't type that correctly.
One question. Does your bus happen to have surveillance camera's installed in it?
(Ours do)

So Sheriff Joe Arpaio's gonna come and talk to my criminal law class sometime in the near future. Should be interesting, what with the reputation he's garnered.

So this finally did happen today. The speech wasn't to interesting (basically just a dragged-out explanation of his career to date), but it really struck me as unprofessional when he mentioned how he was still wasting money on investigating Obama's birth certificate, and how he was completely sure it was a fake. I'm not one for politics, but I don't really see why that should be of any concern to a country sheriff, who should, y'know, be taking care of crime and stuff... y'know. He's got quite an ego too; a real douchebag.

I hated virtually every speech involving a public official of some sorts when I was in high school just for the fact that politics were brought up. I wound up zoning out of those type of speeches for that reason.

I'm genuinely annoyed today. I've been doing some tutoring on the side, because I mostly take senior students, and as a result, get very little experience with juniors. Tutoring is a good way to get that experience - but they stuck me in a class that just goes over selective school entry tests, probably because I teach in selective schools. The problem is that I know these kids wouldn't be able to keep up in my class, but they're bring run through the tests in the vain hope that they will get in.

*Does not know who Votech kids are*
I think it's like our Vocol system - vocational tech. It's a skills-based campus for kids who don't want to go on to tertiary education. Instead, they learn trades and retail and childcare.

Well today was interesting. Got piggyback rides to my classes, sophomores had a huge assembly about bullying (which my grade needed very badly). Learned that my schools cafe got rid of the condiments and only has barbeque sauce available, and the microwave is gone. Lunch wise my school has gotten really bad, even the people making the food are sick and tired of it. My fingers are crossed that on the 27th we go back to the way it was last year.

Yeah our food is terrible, this year is by far the worst its ever been

When I first looked this up, I immediately became jealous and wondered why my area doesn't have something like that.

But then it hit me: It's basically what we call the career center here, well for certain courses.
Almost none of the available courses except for automotive engineering were of interest to me. I'm more of a creative spirit.

Well today was interesting.

What...
sophomores had a huge assembly about bullying (which my grade needed very badly).
I thought this generation was getting better...

What? I thought our school getting rid of salt and pepper was silly, but only barbeque sauce?

Not with this health program that has taken away our sugary snacks.

In the school world of Akira Ishikawa, Akira has to do an essay in English 3 in a mimick scholarship competition (We don't actually get scholarships, but the three winners gets food from a local restaurant that isn't cheap especially for a small town), more Algebra 3, which is just Pre-Cal; Art 2, and is in a group project that has to teach our 4th period class on a college level book chapter about Anti-Semitism in Seminar. One of the group members is very useless, and as a result will get a poor rating on the group evaluation score.
I've been carrying a backpack that is more heavy than it should, and I've been running on 4-6 hours of sleep.

Good week so far for me today. Took an assessment test for Spanish and got placed in Spanish 2, exactly where I was aiming for. Meanwhile, got Jack's for lunch and ran 5 (10 laps) miles to support our college's breast cancer awareness week. The peeps there were really supportive. Got a cool bracelet too (even though it's like 3 times the width of my wrist )

Now I gots to get home and do homework. I have a group presentation to do tomorrow and math homework as well. I got a 94% on our first test, one of three A's in the class apparently and I don't have to do the take-home test if I didn't want to. Still doing it because it's honestly a piece of cake.

Our marching band is suffering right now. Our first performance last week went horribly and we're trying to clean it up. Main concern being some of us enter too early and rush ever so slightly that it throws us all off. Got a half-time performance tomorrow, Saturday practice, then a performance at Vegas next Saturday. Not gonna learn the 4th movement since we have no time, so it's just cleaning for now.

Life is good. :D

One of my friends (he's like 5'7 I think) offered to "give me a lift" to my classes (since we have the same classes). In some places, yes this generation is better, but not here (most of the time). I'm just as confused as you.

Does your group presentation require you to make an quiz? Each of the groups has to have one. My group went as far as making a Jeopardy game for our class to play on despite only having 5 minutes of organized time to do it. Our time limit is at least 20 minutes and a maximum of 40 minutes. We're pushing 35 on the time line.

Golly gee, I already have to look down at people since I'm 5'9/10"-
I'm kidding. 5'7/8" is a height I wished I stayed at, but that's pretty unusual to get a piggyback ride during school.
I'm pretty sure both '98's and '99's generation is bad, if not terribly spoiled.
Hell, I go to the store and buy snacks so I can eat it during art sometimes. Nobody wants the rubbish food that's in the snack machine, and the school can't tell us not to bring outside food into the building.

Our careers centre is usually an advisor with all sorts of resources at their disposal. They're aimed at everyone, of course, but in my school, the idea of not going to university is unthinkable.

Vocol, on the other hand, is aimed at trades, and is usually run in association with TAFE (Technical And Further Education), which is aimed at adults and high schools graduates. Vocol is designed to get qualifications for trades, retail and hospitality.

I don't think the bullying problem has changed in any recent time, but what we consider bullying has.

People have become hypersensitive to any type of wrong doing from one person to another, and therefore we consider a greater amount of things bullying. Before, bullying was defined as repeated attacks either physically or verbally, but now any simple thing you may say or do to a person can be claimed as bullying and taken seriously.

I blame social media for this, as it's basically a competition to see how much attention you can get from people and how many people agree with you. Nobody cares if you had a normal, drama free day, but if you post about how somebody wronged you, you garnish plenty of attention, and then you attach names like bullying to said wrong doing. That over time widdles away at the definition to the point that bullying has become a massive gray area term.

So in the end, the same amount of wrong doings are occurring, we just now count more of them as bullying.

(Also, I'm in no way defending or condoning bullying or those who bully others)

Really impressing my blogging teacher with my first piece of work, he said he never would have known I loved cars otherwise. I don't really know how to improve on my next article. Trying to get a copy of our latest school video since I'm in it, but that doesn't seem to be happening. Get out early today because I have a dentist appointment, Yay (and no)!

We had the police come in and conduct a drug search today. It took at least twice as long as usual, so something tells me that they found something.

Also, apparently someone yesterday on the one Votech bus put a condom over their head. And speaking of that Votech bus, someone screamed "Suck my 🤬!" out the window, and now everyone from the middle of the bus on back is suspended.

Someone got caught with drugs on April 20th when I was a Senior. The kid they caught was in my gym class that I was in at the time of conducting the search.

My school bathrooms always smell like weed. Especially the upstairs one, where several people have been caught.

Anyways, my fall break ended, and now I'm back to the boring grind. At least the recording studio in my Audio Tech class is finished.

A senior got arrested for doing weed and got suspended for like a week and is now banned from all after school activities and other things. I can't comprehend how they even get hands on that stuff.

Someone not too long ago got a ten day suspension and a referral to the police for either heroin or marijuana. Then there's someone who I used to very distantly know a few years back that you can tell he's on some major stuff just by his build.
