High School

Thanks to a few friends I've escaped my little bubble of anti-socialism. I have to say, it's much better seeing yourself as equal to everyone else. I really have no fear to talk to anyone now (besides my crush). So here's what I've figured out: The people I wouldn't talk to are extremely nice; I'm noticed by teachers because I understand the material and can spit it back out to help fellow classmates easier; some people had no idea that I spoke lol.

My day runs by so much better. I'm acknowledged in the hallways a lot more often; it's nice to hear "Hi Jacob!" on my way to class. :)
Thats awesome! 👍

Tomorrow and on Friday, I get out of school early because parent teacher interviews, which are a thing. Tomorrow, I get out at 12:25 (School still starts at 8:35 as usual). Don't remember when I get out on Friday. This week has been lacking in full days. Monday had Remembrance Day assemblies, resulting in missed classes, Tuesday was Remembrance Day, so no school, today was the only full day of the week, and the next two days are abridged because meetings. Though I will go through all four blocks in half a day. I think I've had more abridged days though. I think I once had a quarter day or something. Maybe it was an hour. Regardless, I don't have to worry about physics anymore, which is relieving. Tomorrow, I'll go look for a new elective to replace physics.

In my Senior year of high school, I was often called A-Dro (A for Anthony and Dro for the first three letters in my last name) because some people thought that I would become a rapper. That never happened.
People used to call me "O-Dog or OG". Mainly due to the fact the my initials are OG and I was well known for "keeping it real". I can also spit some hot fire if you give me time to write it up first. :sly:

That's what I did. After a while, people in my English class expected me to have a rap ready to perform when I was doing a presentation. In fact, even my instructor in that class told me that she expected me to perform a rap for the group presentation. Half the class had their phones out record my rap, and if that was any other day of the week, those phones would have been confiscated within seconds.

Found out that there was a kid who was playing hacky-sack with a group of others in the courtyard that climbed up a wall to get the sack off a roof, then obliterated a light on the way down, which he chose to jump down off of of all things. According to one of his friends, there's cameras out there, but I'm not sure if they was messing with him or not.

So my intermediate art class moves way faster than intro.

So this is an F because I couldn't complete it in time...

Well maybe I like to make sure everything is perfect... Not my fault I'm a slow worker.:boggled:

Art classes don't make sense to me. How do you grade art?

"You didn't draw the flowers in this vase as good as I did! C-!"

Screw you! It's art! Art is anything! Do critics go from exhibit to exhibit, grading each piece? No. So why do that in a school? You can teach art, but you can't assign a grade to it. It's all wrong in my mind.

Well, it's an F, because it's incomplete. That's literally the only reason.
In my class, grades aren't based on how well you do, but if you used proper techniques or not.

In my art class you don't have deadlines, critiques, or any of that stuff. If you go in and you make art for an hour and a half you get an A+, simple as that. Most of the artwork I make is done rather quickly but I'll take my time if the piece is something I'm really passionate about.

Anyway, today in weight training we were doing get-ups (where you start laying down, get up, and sprint to the finish line as quick as you can), and I completely failed and it was hilarious. The coach had us laying in a really awkward position and the way I got up and started sprinting I lost my balance, fell, and slid a good few feet. "Safe!" was the coach's reaction. I have a massive friction burn on my right arm and leg now. :ouch:

The three day week went by very fast. We started the stock market game in my economics class. I'm not but am looking forward to it, mostly because if your in the top three in your class you don't have to take the final, which would be nice. Too bad I know nothing about the stock market lol XD

All you need to know about the stock market is that it's a crapshoot.

Life only goes downhill after high school. Enjoy it while you can cause it is high school is the easiest that you'll ever have it in life.

I'm pretty sure kindergarten takes the cake on that one. :sly: In all reality though, high school is going to be relatively easy compared to college and onward in the work force. This is coming from someone who's still in high school as well.

Last couple years in high school were the golden times from my experience. Despite having the exams it was an absolute chill and fun. Free king-sized meals at the bufet, lots of events, impromptu class night-outs. It was that awesome. College isn't like that. You go there if you feel like it, sit through classes learning stuff, trying to take note of when's the next assignment due. Also depending on the education system where you live, you have the financial burden hanging by your neck all the time. Believe me, sorting out money is not fun. Not fun at all.

Most people would reverse that

So my Audio teacher likes to hold a small concert in the theater with his clients when they come to town and my class actually went to it this time. It was some dude from a 60's band called The New Christy Minstrels. I was one of the few people who knew what he sang because my dad listens to those songs all the time.

It's better than last year, where some jazz musician played in the theater and some emo electronic punk band played in the lunchroom.

Have my first big presentation tomorrow. I'm slightly nervous, going to practice during my block one study hall. Almost got into a, I'll call it a argument. I'm sitting next to a friend (said friend was a girl) and we were talking. Some guy decided to forcefully pick me up and move me just so he could sit next to her. I'm 4'8 and the guy was around 5'7 I think. I was not thrilled and just as I started letting him know how I felt a teacher just happened to see what happened. The kid wasn't happy, especially when he saw my friend hug me. Really hope that doesn't come back to haunt me.

You are legally a midget LOL.

The one thing that I learned from Seminar is to practice your presentation. Study hall probably won't be enough for you to memorize what you need to say, and once you go up there, you're mind will probably go blank. If that happens, try to keep calm and go with the flow.
The argument... the guy was in the wrong from the start. He shouldn't get upset with you for his wrongdoing. He needs to grow... mature (see what I did there?). It shouldn't come back to haunt you... shouldn't.

People nowadays are getting bolder and stupider. You did good to stand up to him, now it's the task of ignoring him everyday.

I just wing every speech and hope that it doesn't suck. Although in my case, it helps that I'm really good at impromptu speeches so I can BS pretty well.

I guess my English teacher fits this boat too.
Anyone who is under 5'0" is legally defined as a midget according to friends.

I try to wing it. It doesn't go as well as being prepared.
