High School

YES. Those things are the most annoying pieces of...ughhhhhhhhh.

I failed a test because of them and ended the quarter with an 83. Which I guess isn't bad to some people but I'm an honors student and the "83" on the computer screen was aggravating.

I hate working with shapes...why can't I just go back to simple numbers and variables? :(
I really don't get how anything more than 80 is a fail. For me, no matter how hard I try, unless it involves Shapes (like Geometry) and Creative Tasks, I am lucky enough to get 50 or higher. Though since Maths here combines all the Math topics, Geometry is crammed in with other Math subjects so I get in the 60s.

It's basically a fail for me, because to stay in honors for the next year you have to end the class with an 85 or higher average.

Different grading scales.

An 80 for me in SC is basically a C; an honors student typically gets an S (93-100) or a B (92-85). Again, using SC grading scales. It's different from state to state.

You could possibly squeak by into next year's honors math class. I left my Chemistry 1 honors class with a 82 and I still got put into Chemistry 2 honors this year.

I said "hell to the naw", and got that switched to Physics.

Quite simply, today was a hell of a day and I'm glad it's over with tomorrow being Friday.

Heard about an apparent brutal, bloody as all hell fight in school today. From what I heard, a freshman was walking behind a white student who was just doing his normal thing - minding his own business and keeping to himself - when the freshman pushed the kid into a black student. The freshman ran and the black student turned around and absolutely decked the kid who got pushed. The victim was defenseless and apparently was knocked out with the first punch but the other student kept punching and punching him. It took six people, including a principal, the schools resource officer (who's a fully uniformed police officer) and two of the biggest guys in the school to pull the black student off the white student. It didn't help that the victim was a 5'7" junior and the other kid a 6'5" senior and one of the best players on both the football team and the basketball team, who's also someone who you don't want to mess with. As a result, there's already charges being pressed and a possible lawsuit from both parties respective sides. And now there's a rumor going around that the black student is going to show up tomorrow with a gun; I don't think I need to say anything else.

Then in science class, half the class was making things really difficult on the teacher as they always do. But someone made a Sandy Hook shooting joke, saying that the teacher would get overly frustrated and shoot up the school. The teacher did nothing about it. Then as the class got worse, the same student joking said that the teacher was ready to "blow her brains out" and this time the teacher simply said "enough" to him and that was it. Personally as someone who's admittedly been dangerously close to taking their own life before (though not recently), as well as nearly losing two good friends to suicide before, it took every last thing in me not to make a scene over it. In fact I probably would've had the student not been 16 and me 19. If I would've done that, that would be landed me right in jail or at the very least some serious trouble. And I know for a fact that the school definitely would done something about it.

I was taught BC Calculus first...
Okay so you basically crammed AB in one semester and BC the second.

AB is streteched over an entire year.

Are you attending school or jail??

You call those animals "students"? Jesus..

Finally got my Year 12 class's results sent to me today - in a class of twenty-six, I had fourteen get a Band 6 and eleven get a Band 5, with one Band 4.

So yeah, I'm happy.

EDIT: I actually find Geometry to be one of the easier Math subjects.
algebra is the easiest math subject for me, I've never been very good at perspective drawing in maths.

I hate my food tech teacher and I swear she hate's me too. If I get her again in food tech for Yr. 12 this year, I'm going to drop food tech and hoping to either pick up senior science or if senior science isn't available, I'll pick up wood tech.

EDIT : I still have to contact my former bass teacher about coming in to my school to perform my core performance with me. I'm either doing something from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers or "Love is war" by Hatsune Miku.

I don't think you can pick up any of those 2 subjects, they already a term in Year 12 and appropriate differently than Maths and English since Maths and English have levels while the other don't.

Your best choice is to get on her good side or at least tolerable side if she is causing you trouble. Why do you even hate her in the first place?

1. she has always expected me to write at 100 mph when she knows quite well that I can't write more that 20 - 25 words per minute and she wonders why she can't read my handwriting.

2. she doesn't listen to me when I try to explain why I have ship marks in most of my theory work.

3. I work in the school canteen every day at the 2nd half of lunch, I tell all of my new teachers this at the start of the term and all of them are fine with me being 5 - 10 late after the bell and I have told her that at least 10 times last year and I still got in trouble for being late to class after lunch.

4. She didn't explain what I had to for question 1 in my last assignment very well, part 1 of question 1 was to name the factory that the whole class had spent 3 weeks learning about and part 2 was to just name which food sector(s) the factory is in I got 0 marks for question 1 just because I got the food sector part wrong. I had a 10 min argument with her about it.

5. She always is questioning me on what i'm doing on my computer when I'm doing research on google.

6. she is always looking angry at everyone and she yells too much

And 7. She made me take home all of the HSC past pappers from 2013 - 14 (not that I had any room in my bag for them) and is expecting me to have them all complete by the time I step foot in the 1st food tech class. She's going to be angry with me when that happens because school holidays are surposed to be about avoiding any school work and spending time with your family and friends, not to do summer school at home. And I'm the only student in the class that she gave the papers to.

EDIT 8. she looks like an old dinosaur.

Maybe try to get some help with your writing speed.

Why do you skip marks?

Well, I guess that is understandable

It really depends on how the question is marked, if you are supposed to get both correct for a mark then it's understandable.

It's kind of their job to do that, just so people don't end up on Youtube or GTPlanet.

I think you are acting a little spoilt here, everybody in my school has to do Summer Holiday work. Unless you end up doing them WAY TOO early like what I did which you aren't supposed to (except fpr my Drama IP since that goes all the way to the HSC). For Ancient History, you had to do 2 Essays. For Japanese, you need to do 2 HSC papers and for Drama, you have to read 2 Scripts and continue working on your Individual Project since IP Interviews are in the 2nd Week. This is the teachers way to keep your mind focused and fresh, so your brain doesn't become jelly when you come back.

EDIT 8. she looks like an old dinosaur.

Judging someone by looks is definitely not the way to go.
Overall, I think you need to be more mellow and willing to accept that senior year is getting tougher and you'll have to put much more work in then you would do in Years 7-10. I got Ancient History homework essays every 2nd Week, and I'm falling behind so much in Japanese that I had to get a Tutor.

It's only my food tech teach that is causing me grief and I can't change to another food tech class because mine is only one.

From what I gather, you just seem to struggle with he being a bit more stricter than the other teachers. Try and maybe improve on the subject in general. Maybe start by doing the HSC Papers.

Maybe start by doing the HSC Papers.

I can't start on those papers now because I left them in my room at my dad's place while I'm at my mum's place for the 2nd half of the holidays. I get back on the 25th so that gives me just 2 days to get through at least 300 questions

onto maths, including me, there is only 4 - 5 people in my class and I have the head of the math department for my teacher which is good because he is the best math theach i have ever had.

Just had a look at the 2013 and 2014 Food Tech HSC papers, and there is only around 30 each, which should only take you 3 Hours each, so you can do them when you get home.

Perhaps some better planning and time management is in order, then. You're already one module into your HSC, and the demands on you are only going to increase. As I like to tell my students, the HSC does not sneak up on you; rather, it comes charging at you head on, yelling and flapping its arms about.

I think that you will be surprised at just how far a little diligence will go. We teachers are fully prepared to drag you by the hair, kicking and screaming, to the exam room door if we have to, but trust me when I say it's better for everyone involved when you work with us.

I left the papers at my dad's place because I do all of my homework and assignments there, and the papers are neither homework or an assignment.

They're still worth doing and worth taking seriously.

Also, I don't know what level of English you are doing, but get your hands on the 2015 papers as soon as possible. I taught Advanced last year, and the entire faculty was surprised at the questions on the second paper - they were really specific, even Module C, which was brand-new for the year.

I do believe he mentioned English Studies once before, and they don't do the HSCs.

at the start of term 4, my year had a year meeting. At that year meeting we were told by the head of english that english studies will still have a HSC - type test.

Yeah, you do a HSC Practice exam like every other subject but you don't actually do a HSC Exam for English Studies.
