High School

If you have a study hall it becomes a lot less work. Then again last year I found myself doing my AP homework 8th period, when I had AP Euro 9th, and my 8th period wasn't even a study hall.

I do have a study hall, only two days out of the four day cycle though. So that's 2 or 3 times a week.

I'm pretty sure most of us have Block Schedules :P

I hate block scheduling. So stupid. I think it's better to go 9 - 40 minutes periods everyday than to go 4 - 90 minute periods. Plus you move around more; sometimes I barely want to sit in a class 20 minutes, let alone 40 or even 90.

I really don't see how our school could do block scheduling either, because we have tons of electives, and on top of that you can optionally take Career-Education, which takes a nice chunk out of your schedule (4-5 periods).

We are on a four day cycle, though. Usually it's a science class, and than you have a science lab with a gym. Science lab would be day 1/2, gym would be 3/4, and the plain class would be everyday.

We only have 8 classes a year. So half the semester we get 4 and the other vice versa.

My school does six 55 minute classes a day, with the order changing every day in a four day cycle. It's a bit confusing to learn, but I like it better than having the same classes pretty much every day.

Our school used to be block scheduling using 8 periods and having 8 45 minute classes on Monday and then Tuesday-Friday was alternating days of 4 90 minute classes (A days and B days- A were odd period classes and B were even). My Senior year changed it to 6 periods of a little over an hour or so with Wednesday being shorter classes and a study hall added for an hour (I thought it was dumb to have that seminar day).

I didn't have a preference either way, but a lot of my class preferred block scheduling since the switch screwed a lot of people by forcing them to take summer school or else they wouldn't graduate on time.

My high school had block scheduling of just 4 periods semester round, 90 minutes each class. It does feel long, but the content needed to be covered gets covered. I would hate to constantly switch classes so soon- everything would feel rushed and I wouldn't learn as much.

For the lower end classes or classes needed to graduate, maybe the 40 minute or 45 minute classes sound ideal.

But in @GranTurismo916's sake when he's doing an AP class (and this is from my account from taking AP Calculus), you need that full 90 minutes. If not more. Trying to cram in just one section that you get an idea of within 40-45 minutes is just ludicrous to me when AP classes are involved. The material is a lot to swallow at once. The chances of questions being asked are gonna be certain- but you only have that short time frame to get all that done. AP classes are the only time where more time is gonna be needed rather than the block scheduling (that the northern states seem to go by).

In Australia, or at least my school, you only need 6 subjects in Year 11 (you can go for additional Extension subjects if you can and want) while only 5 is required for Year 12 so you can drop 1 to let off the load.

Also all subjects go for 1 Hour each, we mostly have 5-6 Periods are day (this can vary depending on the school)

My school changes order in a 2 week cycle. Granted some days are easier to learn since some do stick out a lot (like they day where I have all my subjects and the day where I only have 3 at the very end).

Not too many things piss me off this bad but this is definitely one of them. This morning at the bus stop some 🤬 not only never slowed down for the bus, but she floored it right as it stopped and deployed the stop sign and lights, and almost hit a girl who gets on at my stop. The driver then proceeds to blare the horn and give the bird to the bus for at least 300 feet past it. I missed the bus just by a moment or two but I saw it happen from my kitchen window (I wasn't completely ready therefore I couldn't try to catch it). People like this are why if you can't be a :censored:ing responsible driver, then oh I don't know, maybe DON'T :censored:ING DRIVE AT ALL!

So we have been discussing about our Years scavenger hunt for this year.

This is the first time it is not run by the school, and boy is it ridiculous.

For starters, this is so much more broad in location so each team has to have a driver to get around. So if none of your friends are drivers, tough luck you can't compete or are severely handicap by having to catch Buses.

Also the tasks, some are fine and really only just embarrassing things or fun dares (like barking like a dog in front of a crowd or put your face in soft serve ice cream) but we also have things that I don't even think are legal like walking half naked into Mcdonalds, litterly stealing random peoples outdoor property and defacing another school...

I think I want to sit this one out.

This is about college, but it's still a story worth telling.

So the college I'm going to has two campuses. One I can walk to in 15 minutes, the other I can get to in about an hour by transit. So I woke up at 6 this morning and was out the door to the further campus by 6:45, and was there two hours before the class I thought (keyword being thought) I had was supposed to start. So I hung out in the library until then. But when I got to the class, it turns out that I was at the wrong campus the whole time, which meant I had to go all the way back to the other one. However, I still got to the right one two hours before my only class on Tuesdays. The problem? I'm still actually waitlisted for the class I have on Tuesdays (Meaning the class didn't show up on my online schedule), and the classes I was actually going to are Wednesday classes. At least there were pancakes.

Also, when I went to the wrong campus, the train was having issues.

Very, very true. On my AP Euro test I got a 3. Easily could have done better. Part of it was the fact that I reviewed less than I should have when I had many, many opportunities to, another part is the fact that it's the hardest test I've ever taken, and part of it is that she had to fit in a very large course into daily 40 minute periods, which is hard to do, so she really couldn't cover everything; definitely skipped over a lot.

But on the bright side of taking AP Euro, I ended up getting a 100 on the Global Regents (the New York people know what I'm talking about).

So you guys remember that pickle I mentioned the other day, the one about me either going to homecoming with my crush or going to the dirt track for a sprint car race? Well that pickles been eaten solved, because I'll be going to the race. My mom has already decided to buy the tickets tomorrow and there's no changing her mind. I can't complain at all though, so I'm happy with how it turned out; I believe I said one means as much to me as the other. Plus a week and a half might not be enough time to get everything ready for homecoming anyway.

And as for other school related stuff, this year as a whole so far has been pretty great. Sure, there's some stuff bothering me, but it's not bad enough that it's getting in the way of anything too too bad. And that hasn't happened since 4th grade. I set out to make this year, my senior year, the best year I've ever had and thus far that is the case. Four months ago I would not have believed by a long shot that this year would be going so well.

I just finished my HSC Music exam. 3 10 minute talks go by very quickly ;) then I had my performance, which went a bad as it could've. First The bass I was using wouldn't get back in tune after I used it for the first 10 minute talk, so I had to pull another one out of thin air. Then I majorly stuffed up at the start, so I had to start again. Other then that, I did ok.

There was a small shootout between a cop and a gunman in a town just five miles away from my school today. There's a handful of schools near by other than mine, 5 total to be exact, because my district borders other districts. Three of those five schools went on lock down for 45 minutes to an hour. The two that didnt? My school and the middle school in my district (the two schools are right beside each other).

EDIT: It should be noted that the gunman was captured/contained, but I'm not sure if they were alive or not. The police officer was okay.

Today is my last day of classes ;) Next week is just a write off. Monday : dress up day, then laser tag and bowling, Tuesday : day off, Wednesday : Mumbulla Mt excursion, Thursday : presentation day / graduation day :)

When I went to high school, we had lockdown drills, but we never had a real lockdown. Apparently the school's only ever had a real lockdown like twice or something, and it was for incidences in the neighborhood, not directly at the school.

The only true lockdown I ever had as a high school student was my senior year when the principal had the drug dogs brought in on 4/20. What was really dumb is that some Darwin Award winners actually got caught with drugs that day.

At Graduation Day, my school has chosen my Drama HSC group to perform. We had to sub someone again because he is away on holidays so we've been teaching the new guy our performance and removing any of the rust the rest of us have for Thursday.

I'm on the brink of suspension...:scared: Heck, I'm not even at school today - what's the point of going anyway?.
I say I'm on the brink of suspension because I was given an "Official Warning", which is worse than a detention apparently. I don't feel as though the punishment fits the crime. All I did was fail to give my iPad to a teacher, bloody hell. 2 teachers sent emails to my coordinator in regards to bad behaviour after I was given the warning, so if another email gets to him, I will be suspended. The real killer though is that the warning stands for the rest of the year, which means I can't act up for a full term. I have NEVER done that in my school life, so the pressure is on. How will I do it?

It's kids like you that make me mad. There's always a point in going to any type of place kiddo.

Also get rid of that period after the question mark. You would know that if you went to school though.....

New rule in the school today that covers the entire building for the rest of the year: In each period, a maximum of three trips to the bathroom are allowed from each classroom, and this applies to every class as a whole, not individual students. If a class exceeds that three person limit, then that class loses their bathroom trips for the rest of the grading period (there's four grading periods consisting of nine weeks each). If said class exceeds the limit for a second time or more, the class loses their bathroom trips for the rest of the year. And finally, if the majority of classes (say 5 out of 8 total for example) exceeds the limit once, the entire school loses their bathroom trips for the rest of the year.

My reaction? A simple "what the flying 🤬!?"

The stupidity is out of the roof in your district.

Okay, that's just ridiculous. I wonder how long until the complaints come in. The worst it ever got for me was some subs only allowing one person out at a time and maybe having to write our name on the board. But I thought that was fair. But this is on another level.

Oh it really is. This new bathroom rule is just the tip of the iceberg. Glad I'm a senior.

Year before last, they banned any and all bathroom trips for the entire year after a whole crew of people was caught smoking weed in the one bathroom in December. Parents complained, both over the phone and in person, and it didn't change. I seriously doubt anything is gonna change this latest one.

All that ban is going to do is make people smoke weed elsewhere.
